Within three years (1985), the Miami Office changed its charter from an Edge Act to a national bank charter issued by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and its name to Pacific National Bank, N.A. (PNB or the Bank). Since that time, Pacific National Bank has operated as a full service commercial bank and wholly owned subsidiary of BPE. PNB is an FDIC insured institution, Federal Reserve member bank, and operates a single branch at 1390 Brickell Avenue in the city of Miami.. Headquartered in Quayaquil, BPE was founded in 1972. BPE is currently the second largest commercial bank in Ecuador with $2.2 Billion in assets, serving over 417,000 consumer and business household relationships, employing more than 1,100 full time employees, operating 117 branch distribution points, and 208 ATM locations. In addition to being a dominant retail banking brand in Ecuador, BPE is also a leading player in other financial sectors of Ecuador's economy and adds to the strength of its Bank brand through other BPE affiliated companies that offer a broad array of financial services including insurance (Seguros Sucre), consumer credit cards (PacificCard/MasterCard), brokerage services (Valpacifico), trust services (Fiduciaria del Pacifico) and logistics services (Almagro) to name a few.
