Detailed description is This is the official author page for the Knight Ranger series of books. Excerpt from Chapter two of "The Veteran" : Sam couldn't reason with the gang. He had no choice but to defend himself. The others backed away. Sam stood sideways in a fighting stance. Enrique threw a punch. Sam swerved out of the way, grabbed Enrique's arm, rotated it, and flipped him on the ground, and stepped away. Enrique scrambled to his feet and charged the boy. Sam turned and kicked his foot back, but Enrique deflected.. "Not this time, gringo," Enrique said and put Sam in a headlock.. Sam reached his hand just below Enrique's chin and pressed his fingers up, causing pain and made Enrique let go. Enrique's eyes narrowed, and he fumed. Sam stepped off to the side and twisting his body, he did a wheel-kick, and Enrique was on the ground.. "Come on, let's get him," one of the other gang members said and advanced toward Sam.. "No…he's mine," Enrique rasped and struggled to stand. He took out his knife and waved it at Sam.. Really? Sam thought. . Enrique shot the knife forward. Sam turned his body, grabbed Enrique's wrist, and struck it with his other hand. The knife dropped. Sam elbowed Enrique in the stomach and swung his leg back in a back-crescent kick. Enrique fell to the ground, groaned and held his stomach. Sam stood in a fighting stance. He watched to make sure the man wouldn't get up, and he watched the others. His heart beat out of his chest, and he huffed and puffed.
