At The Blue Door Restaurant & Bar, we took great thought & pride into building an environment our guests could feel comfortable in. We believe that all everyone’s senses must feel the soul of the restaurant in order to truly capture The Blue Door’s essence. Being both first-generation Greeks and having traveled there multiple times, we wanted to bring a little slice of Greece to San Jose.. . Our design elements were influenced by one of our favorite resorts in southern Greece. Anyone who has traveled to Greece has been fortunate to see that, aside from food & hospitality being the essence of the culture, it is surrounded by a sea of blue which is also represented in it’s flag & the superstitious powers of the evil eye. When fishermen went out to sea to earn their living, their wives painted their doors blue to protect them from evil and bring their husbands home safely.. . Today, many of the islands continue to paint the doors and windows blue and on some islands, it is law. For us, aside from its mystical qualities, The Blue Door represents the door to the Mediterranean as reflected in our menu.
