Thank you Two Sides of the Same Coin is a women empowerment project that works with women in Uganda to create a successful business that will provide them the tools to generate an income to support their families. It was incorporated in the state of South Dakota in 2013. We have worked with 60 women small business owners in the Fort Portal area. . . The women attend a one week course that includes the following areas of study:. . What Is An Entrepreneur. Marketing Your Business. Record Keeping. Customer Service . Goal Setting/Visualizing Success. Creativity. Business Planning. . During the course, they develop their business plan, each evening they are given an assignment to complete a part of their plan that was covered in the day's lesson.. . After the training, the founder visits each business that is existing (approximately 1/2 of the participants). The new s (the other 1/2) are given the task to complete a feasibility study. One day is spent in collaboration with the instructors refining these feasibility studies and giving direction where needed. If appropriate, seed money is given to entrepreneurs who have a need along with displaying character, discipline and initiative.. . The women then all return for a graduation ceremony where they give a 5-minute presentation on their business. . . Graduates of the program attend continuing education classes and mentor the new entrepreneurs. 2014 training for alumni includes advertising and customer service, record keeping and loan servicing, and creativity. . . WHY: Madeleine Albright said it best, "There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women.". . Please note we are not a 501C 3 but are in the process of applying for status.
