Detailed description is American Legion Post 176 Salmon Creek Heights The formation of this organization was promoted around a hot stove of a small country store at Salmon Creek, Washington in the winter months of 1949 and 1950.
It was born of a desire that we have a small, closely knit organization of our friends and neighbors, dedicated to the service of our community in which we lived rather than to be merged into a larger group miles from home..

There was a tremendous amount of work involved for those few pioneers, but their efforts were successful, and in February 1950 the first meeting was held at Salmon Creek school..

The first meeting was held on February 8, 1950 with 12 veterans in attendance.
The dream was at last a reality.
At this meeting the first officers were elected and the post was launched and on its way.
It was decided the post would be named Salmon Creek Heights Post rather than for any one individual.
Committees were appointed and the first meeting was history!
