Detailed description is Page for BBCDlab studies to be advertised, and for pictures of baby scientists and their impressive brainwaves to be shared! We are the Bangor Brain and Cognitive Development Lab in the School of Psychology at Bangor University, and we are looking for baby scientists to help out with our research!. . Like us to keep up to date with what age participants we are currently looking for, upload pictures of your baby scientist in the cap, or of their impressive brainwaves! Please share our page with any friends or family that you think would be interested in taking part.. . Our lab is interested in studying the way being bilingual influences the development of language and other cognitive abilities. Our young participants range from as young as 7 months old to 17 years and we look for both monolingual and bilingual participants. . . We use an ERP method to study the brain, which involves putting a soft cap (which fits much like a swimming cap) on the child’s head, and placing sensors into the cap to measure activity from the brain. Depending on the study, our infant participants could be sitting in a car chair watching a puppet show, or sitting on their parent's lap watching images on a screen. We have a playroom in which we start the procedure, where the baby and parent get familiar with the lab environment and the researchers in the lab, and where we make sure the baby is comfortable and happy to go on with testing. . . Depending on the study, testing procedures take about an hour to an hour and a half and parents stay with their children the entire time. We end the session by giving our participants a little gift, £15 compensation and a booklet with a picture of them in the cap and a picture of their brainwaves (for examples take a look at our pictures).. . Anyone who is interested in taking part in the studies is put on a university database where we keep contact details of participants and birth date information that we use to contact participants with when they are the right age for each of our studies. . . If you are interested in bringing in your child to take part in our research, please feel free to contact us through this page, via e-mail on: psp0a8@bangor.ac.uk, or via telephone on: 01248 388 828. For more detail about the Bangor Brain and Cognitive Development lab please visit our website, http://bbcd.bangor.ac.uk/ or get in touch and we will be happy to answer any questions. Also if you have any family and friends that you think would be interested in taking part in our research, please share our page with them or recommend Seicolegwyr Babi Bangor as a friend.. We hope to see you and your budding baby scientists in the lab sometime soon!
