Detailed description is A studio offering Modern and Ballet classes for all levels of technique. Elizabeth White, instructor and choreographer (Royal Academy of Dance/Juilliard) About the Artist. Elizabeth White began her dance studies at the age of four as a Royal Academy of Dance student focusing on Classical Ballet, Highland and Irish Dance. Originally from Michigan she started performing at an early age with the Kalamazoo Ballet Company until relocating to New York.. Elizabeth has studied Ballet, Modern and Jazz techniques at Western Michigan University, State University of New York and as a student of The Juilliard School of Music in NYC. She has performed original concert dance works by choreographers including Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, Errol Grimes and Torg Bjorn Steinberg. Elizabeth has studied with master teachers such as Robert Joffrey, Ann Reking, Cori Terry, Loyce Holton, Nelle Fisher and Anna Sokolow.. Elizabeth has taught as an Adjunct Professor of Dance with Western Michigan University. She has held Artist in Residency positions with Kalamazoo College, Education For The Arts, Minnetonka Center For The Arts in Minneapolis, Kalamazoo Civic Theatre and Magical Rain Theatre teaching both dance and theatre performance.. Elizabeth held the position of Children's Program Coordinator and Educator for Wellspring Dance Collaborative where she was a performing company member. Her choreography and performances with the company were hailed in reviews: "Wellspring's most electrifying dancer" and "most inspirational performer of any medium”. After receiving an Emerging Artist Grant from the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation, Elizabeth relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota serving as Founding Artistic Director for Blixa and Company Dance Theatre.. Elizabeth’s choreography for concert dance, musical theatre, and vocal performance ensembles is inventive and based on a strong technical foundation. Her instinctive sense of music is apparent in her expressive and passionate style of choreography.. As an instructor of dance she teaches a range of levels from beginning children to the advanced dancer. Her commitment to inspiring self confidence in dancers combined with her extensive knowledge of dance is rare. Elizabeth’s students explore their own creativity while receiving the highest level of dance technique. She believes in training the body towards a professional career while protecting the imaginative spirit.. Currently Elizabeth is a guest artist with University of Nebraska and the Kearney Public Schools. Elizabeth is the Founding Artistic Director for Blue Door Dance Theatre.
