The ISU Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching is a centrally supported unit under the umbrella of the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost. CELT’s mission is to: support, promote, and enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning; encourage scholarship of teaching and learning; communicate the importance of teaching and learning to both internal and external audiences; and to serve as a catalyst for learning-centered education. A team of 10 staff members and a leadership team of four faculty and one staff member carry out this work.. . CELT’s current initiatives center on professional development focused on teaching and learning for faculty, graduate students, and postdocs. We help faculty members, graduate students and postdocs gain a deeper understanding of the principles that underlie effective teaching and learning, and help them relate these to their unique teaching situation. We work collaboratively with individuals to help them develop and implement a teaching program that is inclusive and that promotes student learning and success. . . Our current support includes programming, funding opportunities, and online resources.
