And through its woodshop operations Just Johnson’s Inc. provided jobs to developmental disabled adults. Due to a change in management at both Kern Regional Center and Just Johnson’s Inc. in 2012, the Company updated its Service Delivery Plan to make it relevant to the current needs of those it serviced, as well to meet the requirements of the legislation which governed the program. . Developmental disabled adults who attend the program are part-time employees of Just Johnson’s Inc. They are paid minimum wage. They are assigned to one of our six Work Centers. Each Work Center replicates real-life work settings. Consumers work side-by-side with co-workers and supervisors to complete work assignments and tasks in a timely and productive manner. In the Work Center the focus is on helping the developmentally disabled adult learn to be a good employee. Problems that occur naturally in the work setting are treated as teachable moments, where supervisors mentor and coach the employees in employability skills. The progress of each individual is carefully monitored to insure that the program is assisting them in meeting their goals.
