Detailed description is Hi! My name is Steve King and I am running for City Council! I am excited to serve the Haskell Community, in which I have made my home the past 15 years. I am a 1992 graduate of Hawley High School and later attended Hardin-Simmons University for three years, where I am still a member of the, World-Famous, Hardin-Simmons Cowboy Band. I later received 4 Associates Degrees from the Community College of the Air Force, an Associate’s Degree from Wayland Baptist University, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Wayland Baptist University with a major in Occupational Education and a Minor in Business Administration.. . I am a decorated veteran of the United States Air Force, serving 8 years as an F-16 Weapons Loader and Instructor. During my military service, I was stationed at several places in the US, as well as South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait near the end of the 7-year long Operation Desert Storm. In 2003, I was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. After leaving the Air Force I became licensed as a Nursing Facility Administrator and moved to Haskell to start my career. My wife Julie and I have a combined total of five children. Nikki, Doug, Nate, Kaylee, and Taylor.. . For the past 15 I have remained active in the community of Haskell. I served as Past President of the Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Haskell Memorial Civic Center. I am presently Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and the Haskell County Shooting Sports Club. . . Over the years, I have coached Little League baseball, soccer, and flag football. Currently, I am an instructor in 4-H Shooting Sports for both pistol and rifle teams. Also, as a part of this group, I am diligently working to build a first-rate public Shooting Sports Complex for Haskell County. I believe children who are given discipline, goals, challenges, and the opportunity for diversity are the keys to building the citizens and leaders for our future. . . I now feel that the best way I can help is to serve on the Haskell City Council. As a City Councilman, I pledge to honestly and energetically support the people of Haskell; and to be open to all the citizens of Haskell for their ideas and concerns. I want to promote new ideas for change and growth, attract businesses, and develop the city aesthetics to help guarantee that our town remains safe, prosperous, and becomes the best small town in the state of Texas..
