Detailed description is Transferring American Motorcycles Safety Ideas and Practices to West Africa via Liberia. The PA MSP training has helped to reduce motorcycle crashes in PA. WHY ARE WE HERE!. . We saw too many deaths and fatal injuries as the result of untrained DRIVERS (Cars and Motorcycle) on the streets and highways of Liberia. . . So, we formed WoGeS Vehicle -N- Motorcycle Safety Training Services to intervene by finding solutions to those problems by promoting the call for a comprehensive SAFETY AWARENESS and TRAINING agenda, for all PEDESTRIANS and DRIVERS to get educated of Road Safety by the year 2020 in line with the United Nations declared "DECADE OF ACTIONS FOR ROAD SAFETY 2020" worldwide! . . Considering the huge task at hand with the needs to effectively achieved our overall Goal to SAVE LIVES AND PROPERTIES, the National Safety Partnership, NASAPAL, Inc and the Liberia Motorcycle Safety Program, Lib MSP were formed out of WVMSTS to better execute awareness and practical training.. . PROBLEMS IN THE ROAD TRAFFIC (SAFETY) SECTOR OF LIBERIA. . WoGeS in 2008, 2009 conducted an assessment into the road safety situation. The exercise was conducted in (10) ten out of (15) fifteen Counties of Liberia, namely: Grand Bassa, Sinoe, Lofa, Bong, Margibi, Gbarpolu , Grand Gedeh, Nimba, and Montserrado. . . The assessment was conducted through random sampling among fifty Road Users (pem-pem drivers, pedestrian, bicycle riders and car drivers) between the ages of 14 and 60 years. Those interview were asked about their knowledge on road safety, insurance and vehicle usage. We also spoke with agents of three Government agencies ( Liberia National Police, Ministry of Transport and Health) Here are our findings: . . 1.Over 85% of vehicle drivers in Liberia are SELF TAUGHT.. 2.Over 95% of ROAD USERS has less knowledge of their RESPONSIBILITY as DRIVERS and PEDESTRAINS. . 3.Over 90% of VEHICLE DRIVERS were not abreast of the Government motorcycle policies and the vehicle and traffic laws due to the lack of information dissemination.. 4. Over 80% of ROAD USERS had little or no idea of the importance or workings of insurance. 5. That Government has no proper record system of road incidents and data of available vehicles in the Country .. 6. That all vehicle DRIVERS training agencies in Liberia has separate curriculum.. . RECOMMENDATION. . 1.That the GOL enact and enforce legislations to safe guide road users. 2. That the GOL provide an approved curriculum for road users and ensured proper dissemination nationwide . 3. That the GOL provide the required logistic for it’s functionaries to enhance efficiency. 4. That Insurance entities advertise their businesses and organize seminar to reach out. 5. That the GOL ensure that all vehicle operators acquired at least 36 hours of road safety training in line with international standards.. 6. That road safety be taught in academic institutions to help alleviate road fatalities..
