Serenity Fields Farm - Farm in Moultrie,Illinois,United-states

Sefton Road

Illinois, United-states - 61925

Detailed description is We have a passion for fresh food and connected living. We believe in the healing benefits of nature and seek to keep kids playing and working outside! We are originally from northern California where we have enjoyed beautiful weather, fresh food, and outdoor recreation. Fresh food is so important to my family and friends that in California we grow fruit and vegetable plants instead of yards and buy coops that fit only two chickens because that's all we have space for. So for us to have 10 acres all to ourselves - well it still amazes me! . . We have an immense garden and a small orchard, lots of berries, fruits, nuts and vegetables as well as many farm animals. We have a soccer field as well a place to play volleyball, basketball, kickball, and kick the can, and trees for various circus acts as well as nooks to read and relax on the hammocks, in the barn loft (made by Brian, Jasper and Azrielle), and in the lounge chair under the gazebo in the orchard. Or places to ride bikes, scooters, rip sticks, 4-wheelers, horses or just to take a leisurely stroll through the woods. The creek is also a big draw for animals and kids alike. We have many old tire tubes that are used regularly each spring to float the creek. When others are alarmed by the flooding (rightly so), the kids are delighted and hoping for the creek to flood! . . We bought this farm two years ago to raise fresh food, give the kids many wonderful things to do outside, and give the kids meaningful work and an opportunity to make money and learn responsibility. . . Right way we knew we were sitting on a gold mine and we wanted to share it with everyone. I teach English as a Second Language at Millikin University. So, I have students from all over the world. Each semester we have a "farm day" at the start and end of the semester and for many it is the high light of their trip to the US.. . Our extended family visits us with their kids as often as they can as they also enjoy this lifestyle and we have friends out regularly. Still, this didn't seem like enough.... . So, from a desire to see others enjoy what we are enjoying and knowing it's too much beauty for one family alone, I brainstormed ways to share the farm. From there was born the idea for farm camps. It is a way for me to combine my passion for teaching, my love of kids and the outdoors, and my determination to see more and more kids away from their devices and out playing and socializing and doing meaningful work. . . On Serenity Fields Farm everyone can unplug and reconnect with themselves and others (including animals, fresh food, and beautiful plants).. . Other ideas that are percolating are birthday parties on the farm (some kids says they look forward to our kids birthday parties on the farm all year - why not extend this joy to more families), school field trips, boy scout and girl scout certifications, and art classes on the farm.. . We also see ourselves increasing the fresh food we provide to others. . We currently sell a limited amount of chicken and turkey eggs and beaf and lamb, but may yet sell vegetables as well as alpaca yarn for local artists.. . As my husband is a counselor and I am currently in a MSW program to also become a counselor, our vision includes animal assisted therapies and other counselor modalities on the farm. . . We hope you will be a part of the unfolding of Serenity Fields Farm!. . Best wishes,. . The Lauper Family
