In the fall of 2003 freshman Steven Brower, a former Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) member, proposed the charter of Villa Julie's chapter of Phi Beta Lambda. In years prior, a struggling business club existed, but without the support of a state and national organization, the club's existence was sporadic throughout its history. . . Through creative leadership, innovation, and a strong public relations campaign, support for a newly chartered business organization was developed and presented to the Student Government Association and a formal charter proposal was presented. Officially sanctioned by the college in December 2003, Villa Julie College was issued charter 14667 of Phi Beta Lambda by the national organization on January 22, 2004. In 2008, the Villa Julie College Board of Trustees voted to change the name of the College to Stevenson University. Along with the name change of the institution, Villa Julie College Phi Beta Lambda (VJCPBL) has changed its name to Stevenson University Phi Beta Lambda (SUPBL). . . Since the official charter of Stevenson University Phi Beta Lambda, the chapter has been involved in every Maryland State and National Leadership Conference and continues to strive for excellence in the National Competitive Events Program, community service, and adding value to membership at the local, state, and national levels.
