When we say community, we really mean it. We don't belong to a large corporation that makes a profit from the station, and listeners aren't forced to listen to large blocks of advertising.. . Operations at WRLR are made possible by grants and Underwriting from companies within our area of operation and donations of funds, equipment, services and time from area residents and volunteer staff.. . WRLR is an LPFM (low powered FM) radio outlet. LPFM stations are allowed by the FCC for areas like ours to provide information to the community. WRLR is currently the single LPFM station in the state of Illinois not affiliated with a religious-based entity. Our station and its unique programming also serves as a benchmark for other LPFM stations and is setting nationwide standards for LPFM quality and professionalism.. .
