Detailed description is Brown Stone Farms is a small family farm located south of Greenwood. You know us from the Greenwood Arkansas Farmer's Market that we helped establish! Several years ago, Jamie and I started talking about how nice it would be to move to the country and have a few farm animals and a small garden. We had two young sons at the time and lived on an 1/8 acre lot...we had a beautiful home but a very small back yard and we really felt like the kids needed to be able to explore and experience a simpler kind of life in the country. We sold our home a month before our third son was due to be born, and discovered our untamed land the same month. With our family, we purchased 60 acres and decided to all move to "the land." It took about 18 months to get the land ready and a home built, and we finally moved in just a few months before our daughter was born. Jamie got to work quickly building a chicken coop and goat pen. It took some time to get everything just right, and we had several delays along the way...but thanks to a lot of encouraging family and friends, some helpful Youtube videos, and many hours picking up rocks, we finally had a working hobby farm. We started with two goats and twelve chickens! The garden came next, and Jamie just couldn't do it small. We prayed and prayed over our plants and thanks to the Lord we had an abundant harvest all summer and into the fall. This led us to start offering up our produce to friends and family on Facebook and eventually led to us getting the Greenwood Arkansas Farmers Market running again! . We are so excited about what this year holds. We will again be heading up the Farmers Market, and bringing our fresh, homemade bakery items, homegrown produce, and jams. We also plan to sell a variety of greenhouse-grown tomato plants, farm fresh eggs, baby chicks, and possibly goat's milk!!.
