I was born and raised in Los Banos California in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley. I grew up in our family’s agriculture business, still going strong after sixty years. I work for a major food processor in Los Banos as an operations manager and have been with the company for twenty-six years.. I moved to Gustine California in 2005 and opened a small fitness center. I operated it for seven years. I sold the business to a local family. . While serving as a Commissioner on the Airport Board I saw the need for people to invest and take pride in their city. I made a commitment to be one of those people, giving back to the community and being an example. In 2009 I ran for Mayor of Gustine. During my three terms as mayor I was a member of the San Joaquin Valley Air District Board for four years, and a Board member of CASA for two years. Currently I serve on the Board for Crime Stoppers and was recently appointed to the Board of Westside Ambulance.. I have been doing the ground work for a run for State Senate for two years; talking to other elected officials, business people, farmers and citizens across our valley. District 12 is one of the largest in the state. The extensive area covers San Benito County, Monterey County, Fresno County, Madera County, Merced County and Stanislaus County.. I want to be in the State Senate because I know I can make a difference. It takes hard work. Doing it from behind a desk is not the answer. I believe what my Grandfather told me many years ago, “If you want to succeed in life, you have to roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty, and lead by example”. I do this on a daily basis and plan to continue this philosophy as Senator of District 12. . The number one source that fuels our valley is water. Without it everyone suffers. It is important to make sure that the bond money, voted in for increased water storage and water system improvement is used for just that. These projects must be expedited to assure water availability and balance.. Our valley needs increased job creation and economic security. I know the valley and have roots here. I understand the diversity and issues in District 12 and can make a substantial and informed contribution. I believe in doing what is right for everyone not just “someone.” “Life is about one very important thing, human kindness.. . . . I believe in the three C’s. Communication. Compromise.
