Dedicated trails in the Equestrian Parklands wind beautifully along Big Cove Creek and continue on into the Hays Nature Preserve along the Flint River. Special trail class lessons are offered to students upon achieving proficient riding skills, and the resident boarders delight in spontaneous outings as the weather invites. . . The gift of approximately 540 acres of woodland, bottomland, and reclaimed farmland now known as the J.D. and Annie S. Hays Nature Preserve was accepted by the City of Huntsville in January 2000. Areas for canoeing on the Flint River, picnic areas and trails already existed on the property, and it is proposed that more hiking and horseback riding trails are being constructed.. The Nature Preserve is located adjacent to Hampton Cove, bounded by Hwy 431 and the Eastern Bypass, and is interwoven with the Hampton Cove . Golf Course.. .
