Dawn Moffet of Yellville announces her candidacy for the office of County and Circuit Clerk of Marion County on the Republican ballot. I am excited to continue to serve the citizens of Marion County. As a Deputy Clerk, I have had the pleasure to serve many Marion County citizens and would like to continue to do so as the elected official.. . I have served as a deputy clerk since 2002 and have detailed knowledge of every aspect of the office. Being a combined office brings many challenges. For instance, in December of 2014 a new system from the Administrative Office of the Courts was implemented. The Marion County Circuit Clerk, along with other counties, were required to start documenting all of the attorneys pleadings and Judge’s orders through a computerized system known as “Contexte”. This required many weeks of training, which I completed successfully and helped my co-workers complete as well.. . The clerk's office is also responsible for the posting of payments to the accounts of child support, and mailing such support to the parties, in accordance with the court. We are also responsible for issuing marriage licenses, preparing payroll, and preparing payments to the vendors for the county. I have been involved in all aspects of this work since 2002. I feel that my 13 years experience would bring into the elected Clerk position a real understanding of how the office completes these tasks successfully.. . The office is also required to maintain voter registration and land records. The office also works closely with the election commission, maintains jury records, and documents from 1887 to the present. These are just a few examples of the many duties of the Marion County Clerk's office. I have had training in all aspects of this office, and am confident that I can run it courteously and efficiently.. I have had the pleasure of serving my community as a City Council member for Yellville. I served on the Yellville City Council from 1998 to 2005 before moving outside the city limits. I also contributed my time to the County as a reporter for the “The Mountain Echo” newspaper. As a reporter, I covered the events of the Marion County Quorum Court meetings for 12 years.. . I have a bachelor’s degree in education from Baker University. My husband, Mike Moffet, is retired after serving as a peace officer in Marion County for 25 years. He and I are blessed with four children and six grandchildren.. . I have had the pleasure to call Yellville and Marion County home for nearly 30 years. I have spent the majority of my time here serving the community in my work. I am proud to have raised my children here. I couldn't imagine changing a thing about my life in this community; the people here are the most gracious and giving people I have known. I would be honored to serve you as your County and Circuit Clerk.. .
