Danielle Spears is currently a Nursing Major student at Middle Georgia College in Cochran, GA. Chris Rigsby is currently in transition to her new job as an Assistant Professor of Biology at Macon State College. Both sisters grew up to the sweet smells of homemade goods coming from their families kitchens. Their mother, Lynn, and grandmothers, Mary and Shirley, were always, and still are, cooking up something good for the family. They always gave the sisters freedom in the kitchen when it came to trying out new recipes and making lots of messes! This was definitely the beginning to their sweet successes!. Chris began making all of her friends’ birthday cakes in high school and college. This led to her first wedding cake experience, making the Auburn themed groom’s cake for her friend’s wedding. After college, Chris attended graduate school at the Medical College of Georgia where she began making all the birthday cakes for her labmates. But instead of just “plain ol’ birthday cakes”, Chris experimented with all of the southern favorites from her youth, like Red Velvet, 12-layer chocolate cake, and caramel cakes. She also started making various cheesecakes and quickly became famous around the department as the “lab baker”.. Danielle started out in the kitchen with her sister, but didn’t start experimenting in the kitchen until her daughter started Pre-K. There she became the ultimate school mom, bringing snacks and treats to her daughter’s class every chance she could. Danielle’s specialty became cupcakes and candy treats. She loves to try new flavors, such as Cinnamon Churro and Orange Dreamsicle. Danielle has always looked forward to Christmas, when she could spend hours in the kitchen preparing her candies. Buckeyes, Martha Washington candy, truffles, and cream cheese cookies to name a few.. Chris and Danielle wanted to start a bakery dedicated to maintaining the rich history of southern baked goods, while incorporating new recipes that are sure to become family favorites.
