I dont welcome im peter w. Watching the news hour live from my headquarters here in doha coming up in the next sixty minutes Iraqi Forces Say theyve seized key locations around kirkuk has there been some Kurdish Peshmerga positions plus. We cant understand this president and confusion. The Spanish Government reminds Catalan Leaders they have until thursday to withdraw their bid for independence. For the first time in fifteen years israel approves the construction of illegal settlements in hebron city in the occupied west bank also. Anger and sorrow somalis are in mourning over at least two hundred seventy six people were killed in the capital mogadishu. And support call in cap or neck fights back the american football quarterback who took aim at n. F. L. Games filed a lawsuit saying he hasnt been signed and f. L. Owners are called. We begin this news in iraq where theres a Major Military operation underway in the north the iraqi army and its allied militia are advancing on kurdish controlled kirkuk from the south and from the west of the city now one of the main issues in this dispute oil kirkuk is an Oil Producing city the Kurdish Regional government believes it is part of its territory straight to Charles Stratford whos on the outskirts of kirkuk for us here on the news charlie where are you what are you seeing and what are you hearing. Where on the outskirts of killer cook on a road here you can see there are literally thousands of cars and the numbers are increasing all the time families. Weve seen fleeing the city we understand that certainly according to both sides now both Iraqi Military and the Kurdish Forces that the Iraqi Military and take control of that Strategic Military base k. Y. On that was under the control of the peshmerga since two thousand and fourteen when iraqi forces fled that beisel offensive we also understand now that the Iraqi Military forces have also taken control of the airport the airport quite close to the center of the city we have been speaking to sources in the city they say that iraqi forces are not actually in the center but certainly pressure is mounting and i as these people fleeing testify you know a lot of fear in the city for that involves weve been speaking to sources in the government as well who are telling us that the plan after. That has been secured and as i say we understand that that is now the case there will be a push in advance by iraqi forces towards some of these Oil Installations and oil fields to try and secure them i mean its incredible quite. How fast this story is moving and its safe to say that no one is really expecting this withdrawal of Kurdish Peshmerga forces to be quite as quick as this i mean weve seen evidence of very angry peshmerga accusing those that have withdrawn as being aligned with factions that they say are sympathetic to this move by the Iraqi Government just in the last few minutes weve had patients here at this position shouting and basically insulting people as they flee saying that they should stand and fight and there are concerns for what could happen in the center of the city because of course it is such an ethnically diverse place and there are certain ethnicities certain factions of political factions in that sitting here as i say are potentially sympathetic to this move by the iranian government charlie does this represent a potential split within the past or a some of them just doing this for a tactical reason and theyre going to go off someplace else and perhaps regroup and then return. Its very difficult to assess i mean certainly the pace of that say that theyre staying and fighting are accusing these people these patients of leaving as being aligned fundamentally with the iranians. There has been certainly yesterday there was a call by all factions for unity and to stand up and fight but all the evidence is suggesting you know the quickness of the speed with which this withdrawal is happening and the anger on the streets among certain a lot of patience would suggest that indeed this is some sort of split and it is hampering any kind of potential defense of this city a city that is so deeply important to both sides in a city that you know. The kurds until as we saw as it until this morning were unified in saying that they were going to defend that seems not to be happening now and there is a reported call from the Central Government in baghdad charles for the peshmerga to come under the umbrella of the Baghdad Military i mean realistically for some of the peshmerga not least because of their back story when it comes to how good they are at fighting surely most of them would not go with that as as a concept as an idea here. Its safe to say that that would not be taken on board by the vast majority of patients here. No matter what seems to be increasingly one could describe as almost a rout type a name there is still loyalty to the k r g here lets not forget this referendum the whole of the ninety two percent came out in the county those who voted at least wanting to eventually secede from iraq we know there have been splits and i think. Rivalry between various groups in the k r g but the idea of you know the peshmerga coming under federal control certainly seems pretty unfeasible at this stage but is an indication of just how confident l a body was a lets not forget the kind of mixed messages that the Prime Minister has given over the last few days we were told you know by him that this was just a Troop Deployment the standard Troop Deployment following the defeat of my soul around her week that there was no to mando deadline for the withdrawal of pace murder fighters in this area and it was only last night where we had this line from a law abiding saying that there was evidence although he had proof that the k r g were moving p. K. K. Fighters into the area an organization that so not only iraq but pretty much the entire. International community considers to be a terrorist organization the k r g denied that accusation but it was then that a lot body basically said that this was a declaration of war. It seems highly unfeasible that there would be any agreement by the patient to come on to any kind of federal control but what we are seeing certainly is a surprisingly fast moving story and a withdrawal problem many patients all the implications to the south and the west can put. Just looking at the broader picture for a Second Chance do you get the sense here that this has potential to be another civil war in iraq. Its very difficult to say it would be dangerous at this stage to talk about something as serious as that i mean we know that this city this area has been contested and disputed for for many many years we know how passionate the kurds are certainly the Kurdish Regional government believes parts of the coach will govern how passionate they are about it about keeping it because of its oil wealth and as we keep saying and many of the kurds consider kill a cook to be. There. But we have also spoken to certain color kurdish politicians actually inside kirkuk who have been very candid and said you know we we want to cook as being part potentially of a future searches stand state but were open to the ideas of kirkuk having some sort of autonomy status within that future state and power sharing within that autonomous status being david up among the various different ethnic groups. So there have been ideas on the table for many years about the status of the city but of course having worked together so well the peshmerga the iraqi forces and the shia. In the fight against eisel. And the kurds taking control of this city it shows you you know just how passionate they are about defending it but when the push comes to the shop theyre up against a far far bigger and stronger military force as this this exodus of these with rule three to testify and as we watch that exodus behind you charles well say for the meantime thanks very much stay close well talk to you later im sure. Ok lets get more on that. Is an iraqi a member of parliament and formally a National Security adviser he joins us on skype from baghdad mr al ruby how much of kirkuk does the baghdad government now control. Its a matter of the suburbs of. Now under the control of the. Group of forces. And this is this is. Whats happening here people should not forget that. There was and there are the control of the government of iraq and the two thousand and fourteen when. The three provinces not to knock a book but the. World of the occupied by the peshmerga and its time to create a new fact or new reality on the ground and there and this was this was it to do that created y. B. That locational could have been undone by mr baez not it so this is it of his own making whats happening people should never forget whats happened when that whats happening now in critical of of mr burns and his own making why is it what he said last arnies allow me to interrupt you why a set of mr barzani is making given that kirkuk ok it was just the night before the session vote but kirkuk was allowed to vote the majority of people almost ninety three percent voted for succession. But. Almost more than ninety percent as well there were not then ten years ago voted in which it was. Iraq is a. United. Democratic republic so its these. If they want to divorce it has to be from the sun arguably the world and can i just say to you that arguably the country has never been as united as you are now suggesting given that the problems of the kurdish region so it only go back to what the very early ninetys after Saddam Hussein invaded kuwait one year after that the kurdish region began to hit the headlines it is not united it has never been united it has had to accept a status quo thats what mr barzani would say. I dont really disagree with that this is the currency of five thousand years old and this is a currency has always united. Its only had one after the war the three provinces in the north. Not under the control of Saddam Hussein where they werent really. And the floor in two thousand and three ok so were having that conversation im going to interrupt you one more time as were having our conversation we are watching pictures of hundreds perhaps thousands of people getting out of kirkuk they obviously have no confidence that this situation is not going to escalate what is the difference this existing to me explain to me one thing what is the difference between monitoring an oil field and becoming a force of occupation when does one change into being the other. Well i think this question is very valid the question should be should we had asked by mr verizon and so we declared the winner and illegal referendum and from unilaterally and this this situation has me totally and exclusively but i was there but as a bunny so this question has to be addressed to mr benson in so not doing well could you give us an indication of how long you think your forces will be there for. Well did. The council up to the present the iraqi parliament. The Prime Minister the commander in chief. Deploy the Iraqi Security forces all over the country all over that its of it in and out of the ground or whatever this is the usual of the Prime Minister and the commander in chief. To impose to implement the rule of law to implement this so one of the government. And thats what hes doing and if your country is as united as you are telling it is is it is mr al there are very there for you as an m. P. And the Prime Minister mr ala body you are perfectly happy to see people in iraq not kurds from the kurdish region because youre telling us thats in effect what they are not you are quite happy to see iraq iraqis it would appear literally running for their lives. This is a bit of the question this is what this is all just yeah and the nationalists. And. Answer this is such a little its not a loaded question but i take the point and i move on its not an aljazeera question but i understand where youre coming from one final point how closely are you working with turkey on this because we understand that turkey is ready to cooperate with baghdad and the p. K. K. Presence across iraq so theres a whole different agenda coming into play there. Were more than happy were all were very closely and intimately guard in it with both iran and turkey on this issue whether its good or of the the whole of for of the of the south but by mr bowers and the and there we believe that were the regional superpower weve got them in iran and our understanding our position and how and i can tell you there were there were a lot of. Coordination and cooperation between the Iraqi Security forces the specially the Counterterrorism Forces in iraq and this question of forces in. And there were there were in Baghdad International airport couple of weeks ago and it a lot of a lot of our forces as well. The borders are between iraq and. Ok we must leave it there mr many thanks for joining us there from baghdad and as we stay with these live pictures of people joining in that exodus near kirkuk just to get you right up to speed we have a situation where the Kurdish Peshmerga there in that area around kirkuk very very wealthy area because of the oil in the ground there is it is apparently clear and i stress the word apparently there is some sort of split going on within the Kurdish Peshmerga some of them have decided to leave some of them have not as the Central Government forces out of baghdad continue towards not in circling but taking up strategic positions around kirkuk weve got Charlie Stratfor there our correspondent monitoring that development of the story we were just hearing there from. An iraqi m. P. Saying that all of this what you are looking at at the moment is down to mr barzani of course who wanted to push for thats a set. Vote on full independence for the kurdish region they want to call it kurdistan it is not lost on anyone however that what youre looking at the place youre looking at right now it was only allowed to take part in thats a session vote the night before the vote took place maybe worth recycling again that the vote was massively in favor of independence between ninety two and ninety three almost precisely one thousand three percent of the people who took part in the ballot said yes we want to become an independent state and also there that m. P. Reacting to that news that turkey is ready to cooperate with baghdad to end the presence of the backstory to that of course is that turkey has had an ongoing highly negative situation with the p k k and thats playing out in real time as well day to day across the border in syria because of what turkey is doing across the border there in its efforts to take on the p. K. Kate will monitor that story for you and get you right up to speed with all the developments as we have. Lot more still to come here on the news hour including these stories the tax on every segment is ridiculous horrible unfair most definitely less think. The tax on fizzy drinks to help fight obesity in one of americas largest cities loses its foods. And sports doctors and are just two wins away from reaching their first world series in twenty nine years details coming up later in the sport. Now just hours before a deadline from the Spanish Government catalonia as leader has failed to declare if his region plans to secede from spain in a letter to the Central Government he asked for more dialogue madrid has given colors huge amounts until monday to see whether he would proclaim independence after a banned secession referendum earlier this month in his letter the Catalan Leader says this my first request is to reverse the repression against the catalan people and the government my second request is to set up a meeting as soon as possible so that we can discuss the first agreements my governments priority is to seek a path to dialogue with our utmost intensity in a moment well be live in catalonia when the barker is standing by for us there but first to the spanish capital madrid where the deputy Prime Minister has been speaking paul brennan is there paul what did the deputy pm have to say. Well i have to say that madrid was expecting him on stance this morning i can characterize it in a kind of passive aggressive defiance from. Which wasnt unexpected by madrid it put them on of course he met the deadline the monday deadline that was set by. The Prime Minister but he didnt in the way that roughly demanded an answer yes no answer the Justice Minister in the foreign. Came out and said that frankly it was not valid the response it was inadequate and then because the Prime Minister himself has had to head up to the northwest of spain because thats his home region and there are wild fires up there which have killed at least three people hes gone off there to the left is his deputy Prime Minister soraya science santa maria to give the governments response and she frankly said look how hard can it be to say yes or no. I mean back and pretend that i know that i get it he will not understand it or get him in on such an important issue we only asked for clarity to extend uncertainty will only favor those who wish to end peaceful coexistence and to continue with a poor project the government hopes that in the following hours up until the next step line on thursday mr put your mind will give the clarity that all citizens demand and the rule of law requires we cant understand this perceive and confusion and less hes doing that to meet the demands of the most radical groups. So we skip along to the next deadline which is thursday at which point was to push him on as required by the government in madrid to withdraw the independence declaration to formally say that hes backing down and if he doesnt then the process of invoking article one five five will be invoked now there are two parts to that first of all the putting people on trial for sedition and the reason why im standing where im standing is because in that dark building over my shoulder the head of the Capitol Police is in a hearing a Court Hearing charged with sedition along with two Pro Independence Movement Leaders today and the other thing is that the reassurances that the deputy Prime Minister was trying to give when she said this she said look these five hundred doesnt aim to suspend selfgovernment but to ensure that the region of catalonia operates within the law exactly what the nuances of that may be lost on the council on people but what. What shes basically saying is theyre not going to go in mob handed and completely take away all the authority of the council and your house ok well leave it there paul many thanks need barker is in the catalan capital barcelona need as far as the castle lands are concerned do they want talks about talks or it do they want discussions about how weve become independent. Well it really depends on who you speak to there are of course different attitudes and opinions within the Ruling Coalition here youve got the hard Left Wing Coalition who want this to be way more than just a symbolic gesture of independence they want this to be actual independence on the other hand youve got the more pragmatic wing who would rather see a slow transition if thats the right word to use if indeed independence is on the cards at all others of course the god himself of the silent majority just simply dont want independence but i think whats important to note is whether or not its really been spelled out to more than seven Million People here exactly what independence looks like weve heard a lot of passion but do we know exactly how it would unfold if that is how mr putin will want to take this hopefully we can learn a little bit more now from sonia who has been speaking to us all morning the political analyst here sonia no weve heard an awful lot of passion as i mentioned there really has called us put them on really spelt out to people here what is to come if he is going to pursue this road towards independence not only he hasa and but i would say in general the punk band this movement has not done but neither now or this past years weve had what we want to achieve as a nation and where we want to go but not how is that going to happen and i thing a lot of information is still lacking thats why people are now reacting in very different ways and just like being very. Improvising just because they were not told that. Companies could leave catalonia the state could put into action article one hundred fifty five and bring police here so people are just really very lost in this situation right now the next deadline now is of course thursday the governments of madrid assume that declaration of independence is Still Standing even though the government last tuesday said that they would simple to mislead withdraw it was suspended for two months to allow for talks at the. School one five five the century means the stripping away a photo nobody but the Spanish Government to now say that its more about bringing back legality is there a softening of tone whats going on here its all new language so were just learning all these new words that politicians are using you know or theyre too soft and theyre harder than their positions it seems. Like she has really soft in the tone itself but like the. Mob in the sense that when she first day for the first time she was giving a bit more time and really specifying. For what would actually happen so the threat of. Option article one hundred fifty five is there but she hasnt specifically mentioned it and i think its the same for the cuts they are saying things without specifically saying it because they know that where its hard legal connotations and legal effect so i think both parties now seem to be very careful. Ok thank you very much for your analysis so it is very much a game of political pingpong or tennis is this the newest thing now to a political statement the next deadline is now thursday where we await exactly what the next move from the leadership will be nieve thanks very much. Welcome back here with the news out today here in doha the headlines thousands of people are leaving the iraqi city of kirkuk as Government Forces advance on Kurdish Military positions around the city the Iraqi Military says its forces have captured the k. One air base and the local airport which was on the peshmerga control the iraqi army and allied forces have also been moving on oil and gas positions to. Just hours before a deadline from the Spanish Government catalonia as leader has failed to declare of his reach and plans to secede from spain in a letter to the Central Government he asked for more dialogue. The Israeli Government has approved the construction of jewish settlements in hebron in the occupied west bank thirty one new settlements have been approved almost four thousand homes the settlements are illegal under International Law this is the first time the government has given official approval in fifteen years kerry force it joins us live now from hebron in the occupied west bank harry what does this all mean. Well just to clarify the numbers slightly were talking about thirty one new Housing Units here inside hebron which have been approved as a whole this week were expecting nearly four thousand Housing Units in the west bank the occupied west bank to be approved so its not new settlements its new construction within settlements largely but here in hebron it means a great deal because this is such a divided city these answers that are separated by big barriers on top of hillsides that you see across the the occupied west bank this is the middle of the old city of hebron people palestinians and illegal Israeli Settlers alike living on the same streets divided by cages and barbed wire and fences heavily policed by a very large israeli Army Presence here as well checkpoints which restrict movement inside the old city im joined here by its armor heres the head of the Palestinian Youth again settlements organization an anti settlement settlement activist what will this mean on the ground here do you think it means that more of Violent Attacks on those leaders to close on. It means there. Will be in their homes it means more displacement more land more if mcleans eek and israel is doing to me its about time and discrimination to wear the last innings and the other hand its a kind of challenge for the new School Decision to consider the people in the World Heritage and protected by the International Community its a kind of a challenging the International Law and international to make peace between the palestinians and israelis as some people watching this might say this is actually this is one building of thirty homes how much difference does that make you just talking about a symbol are you talking about real encroachment here were talking about increasing the settlements the number about twenty twenty five theyre sent it means a lot on the ground it means theyre out of destroying the. Busting in and. Destroying any kind of. Solution for what is happening is that of taking the settlers out well known that out of a very fanatic and very extreme what are taking and taking the palestinians day and night it means more injustice more in quality and that what is happening you know they are sleuthing get they are giving us signs that there is no we dont have any kind of peace or any kind of solution for the palestinian problems and the palestinian suffering sagarika the the head of the the so general the p. L. O. Has this year said that settlement activity is increased eighty five percent in one year one metric of it the published promoted housing unit plans thats gone up by by more than one hundred percent how do you account for that increased in the course of a year is because of the American Administration the new one and explain support to the world right wing government in israel and its about that the International Community dont have. To put a High Pressure on as well to make it a counter bin according to the International Law. Its considered work lines just to break in and you know that the Prime Minister of israel says that hes hes having to rein in settlement construction because of u. S. Pressure in the country we dont see any u. S. Pressure. Minister announced or we should use the four years quickly before the International Community week up and he says that theres a give up their lives the next with thank you as well its a kind of an exception its kind of. Policies in palestine and in the bank and jerusalem is and i thank you very much i will just to give you what the municipal government here has been saying the man has said that he will challenge this both in terms of a legal challenge that he is submitting once of the Supreme Court of israel and also through International Pressure here to marshal on behalf of the palestinian musicality here in hebron there are some legal niceties about this it is. Being converted from a security a military base on security grounds that the israelis claimed it on to housing so there is potentially the opportunity for some kind of legal challenge however the history of such challenges is hardly one of the Great Success story harry thank you. Somalia is in three days of National Mourning after at least two hundred seventy six people were killed in the worst bombing there in recent years it happened at a crowded intersection in the capital mogadishu on saturday its still unclear who was responsible Catherine Sawyer now reports from nairobi in neighboring kenya was when people in somalias capital mogadishu a trying to come to terms with one of the worst car bomb attacks ever a truck bomb exploded outside a hotel at an intersection lined with government offices restaurants and shops hours later a second blast struck another Business District in the city most of the buildings in those areas have been destroyed still being pulled out of the rubble president mohammed up to life visited the scene and his government has declared three days of mourning and they said you know. The target of these terrorist is not government officials but civilians as you see here there are no government buildings only civilians who are going about their daily life we have to come together and fight these monsters until we eradicate them from our country and speaking to aljazeera the United Nations deputy special envoy to somalia say despite such attacks the security situation around the country has improved a great efforts have been made by the government to particularly secure the city but also other areas in in the country but nevertheless when one is desperate enough to get through these kind of things do happen and weve seen it yet again into mali unfortunately doctors are doing their best with limited resources to deal with the many people who have been injured dozens are in Critical Condition several have lost limbs so. What happened yesterday was incredible i have never seen such a thing before and the death toll is uncountable corpses were burned and no one could recognize them. Attacks on soft targets like markets and restaurants have become common in somalia whats says this in our part is just how large it was and the devastation it has caused right now people are in shock hospital supplies like blood are i dont know dead many are wondering how someone is able to drive as you called packed with explosives into the heart of the city catherine so our desire nairobi kenya. Hundreds of somalis marched through the streets of mogadishu to force their anger against that bomb attack some of them said theyve lost faith in the states ability to protect the people. Now a big story out of europe this hour the head of airbus says he may step down the european plane maker is dealing with a widening and alleged Corruption Scandal tom enders told german media hed leave the job of c. E. O. If he was quote no longer part of the solution the companies being investigated in the u. K. And in front inquiries were opened after us raised its own suspicions over irregular transactions airbus is the biggest aeronautical and Space Company in europe its known for its a three eighty of course the biggest passenger jet in the world in twenty fifteen it was named best aircraft the first time boeing failed to nab that award but by december of last year suffered a setback when it to spur deliveries of twelve a three eighty s. To its biggest customer emirates that same month the Company Announced an order of one hundred planes to iran air but that did not include one single a three eighty demand for that aircraft has since been on a sharp decline l m p for it is an aviation analyst he joins us now from the u. K. Alan welcome back to the news whats going on on air bus well i think its a. Period of concern because this corruption child has been hanging around thought for some years the u. K. Special from unit spending and since two thousand and sixteen the french have been looking in the share and there were allegations by. In two thousand and thirteen and it really goes back even to the start of this millennium when there were there were there was suggesting that middlemen were involved in making sales whether they were in some australians or sri lanka into the u. K. And so on and the export guarantees of stops in a number of countries why this is being investigated and have us themselves picked up these things were happening and its one of those things where the concern is did the people at the top actually know or was it just happening further down the organization to get the figures right and end is is doing the right thing is to say and my guess is that the results of the inquiries are about to come out and and this is preparing the company for the shock that will happen when it does and thats an effect on the bottom line and on our companys reputation but were talking here about billion dollar deals around the world that the level of Organization Must have been here which. And indeed yes but they seem to be in small pockets and you can you can see where. Different companies have been set up and as i understand thats the way the investigation has been going that theres been show company its organized in seven countries that were able to make payments through offshore countries now and bust themselves picked up on some irregularities the chief Financial Officer picked them up and reported them through and so and buses is very aware of whats been going on has been carrying on its a staycation interestingly the chairman going to be a vote of confidence so mendez but i believe that was only after the investigation make sure that. Some wasnt involved in any if they securing his dates as the head of the Defense Industry before he became group c. E. O. At the reshuffle five years ago so endless is apparently was unaware of these things happening and thats why i think hes putting his job on the line to say if im not part of the solution then i would resign him do that Sector Companies are very quickly alan when we know what actually happened here will still be in trouble because people Like Singapore Airlines are saying actually we dont want the a three eighty an ember is waiting in the wings theres this move back to small point to point across the a three twenty one b. For twenty three those small bunny hop type planes but of course says that theres theres all change and weve got a huge growth coming up in the number of people that are going to be strong in the a three eighty in many ways you could argue is ahead of its time if we see the doubling of global passengers over the next fifteen years then were going to need to be gay across to be doing doing the jobs they are the big help jobs to singapore to see so london the new york suit singapore and so on so the a three eighty does have a place and its going to take time but my guess is in the next fifteen years youll see it going through it will survive emirates we know are going to be ordering another twenty five. Some point saying its not in the next month or so and thats going to happen but there is also new aircraft aircraft coming you know really down say even the some twenty sized single since the pilots point of points the industry is changing to become a kind of a transportation ok allan good story again thanks very much its something. The exodus of from me in mass Rakhine State to shop the world of a journalist in the country simply reporting the story has led to harris mind refusing to accept the government version of events some fearing for their lives his yahoo mail and reporting from young. In a yangon cafe i meet i mean meet hes visiting from his home state of mind when he runs a monthly political magazine its a Risky Business the twenty eight year old shows me photos of the bombing attack on his house last year which he says was due to his reporting in rakhine. If we keep trying to investigate the truth about issues and reclined states my life could be in danger if we reduced our coverage of stories about muslims during the recent incidents in monkey or we had to be silent we almost dont cover it because we have to be very careful no more than half a million rohingya have fled main mar to bangladesh since late august after a military campaign the United Nations has called ethnic cleansing but youre unlikely to hear it reported that way in mean ma it comes to who and your issue. A traitor this reporter says hes been harassed online and even threatened in person for his reporting and reckon he doesnt want to reveal his identity because he fears for the public backlash and youre feeling more crammed and you know you feel crap when youre writing the news before its published you you have this fear what would be the public you know response. Will be swearing at me again online. Directing a fact you know the journalist how does he or has spoken to about half a dozen journalists from me also say that facing some form of harassment even Death Threats are not toeing the government line on the range of issues just to give you an example of what that narrative is this is one of the countrys daily best selling newspapers and it said that authorities are saying theyll continue to fight with their holy islamic terrorism in morocco and States Government social media also run the line that burning their homes including posting a photo of this couple who were later found to be hindu. The burning of ranger homes was recently cited in a United Nations report as being part of a campaign to expel and prevent the return of rohingya to me but the government says its false and these kind of attacks are not happening these accusations are spreading throughout the world even though theres been no attack after the fifth of september and this is due to the medias role and this is very bad performance of the media i can say these media are bullying us i think its fair to say that the government. Machine on this entire issue has been absolutely dreadful and its been something almost orwellian dystopian. And incredibly cheap and nasty minin war is not just for his countrys future but that of his magazine he lost two of his six dollars this month because he wouldnt let them use the words bengali terrorist reports he remains afraid of what else he could lose if he continues to search for the truth in me. Al jazeera on. Monday as World Food Day and the u. N. And other agencies have been working around the clock to make sure those range of refugees are fed at the moment the Uns World Food Program has been feeding an estimated five hundred ninety thousand people every day it needs another seventy seven Million Dollars to keep feeding those refugees for the next six months michael dunn foods is the World Food Programs emergency coordinator hes joining us from coxs bizarre in bangladesh close the border with me and mark Michael Dunford for those ranger refugees that youve been meeting the ngo shes been talking to whats the number one priority. The number one priority is meeting their basic needs and particularly from the World Food Program perspective this means feeding them do we have peace currently feeding almost six hundred thousand people this is the equivalent of the size of the population of the washington d. C. Theyre currently on a site the equivalent to two and a half thousand football fields and on every football field its sixty different families so you can imagine the scale of this emergency he is doing our best we have just finished our third round of distribution we are providing rice oil and lentils and this is lifesaving food we also provide food to the refugees as they come across the border were particularly concerned about the most vulnerable the pregnant lactating women and the children under five in here we have a particular Nutrition Program to provide them with nutritious dense food to meet their basic needs i was in the camp yesterday and i saw a baby first hand a baby girl seven months old no bigger than my hand and this was a clear example of a baby who was malnourished and a family that was hungry. For a second which i apologize around the world you seem to be saying as well that the World Food Program needs more money you need more resources given that that is a Global Situation is that china with the immediate situation where you are today i mean how can you carry on doing what youre doing in cox is bizarre. Well fortunately weve had a good response to our appeal we do need seventy seven Million Dollars for the next six months and of course there are lots of competing needs around the world there are the four famines of yemen somalia south sudan and Northern Nigeria not to mention the middle east but the needs here in coxs bizarre immediate there are people who are escaping from persecution and they need basic lifesaving food which w. S. P. Is able to provide of course the easiest solution for the ranger would be if they felt safe and secure i guess and they were able to go back to what they would call their home across the border in me and mom but given that that realistically is not going to happen do you detect a certain a beginning of a certain permanence there to that set up where you are in bangladesh certainly thats one of the situations that we have potentially facing where this turns into a medium and longer term refugee crisis the way things are going this is bizarre in the side in kuta belong is going to become the Worlds Largest refugee camp and so theres going to have to be a Huge Investment of infrastructure and support on a whole range of different sectors from wash to health and of course to food and so the World Food Program along with other un agencies and particularly the government of bangladesh are readying itself not only for the humanitarian Emergency Response but also for a longer Term Solution here we want to support not only refugees but also the Host Communities and we want to be able to make the refugees ultimately more selfreliant ok well leave it there michael dunn for thank you very much. Still ahead here on aljazeera old sports news and the squashed double act from egypt making history at the u. S. O. Lets pause the news and bring in sports our peter thank you so much american Football Player colin capper nick has filed a lawsuit against and i felt team owners the former San Francisco forty nine ers quarterback says he believes he remains unsigned because of owner collusion capper nick started a National Conversation about political activism by athletes in august two thousand and sixteen when he decided to sit and kneel during the National Anthem to protest mistreatment of africanamericans by police the twenty nine year old opted out of his contract with the forty niners at the end of last season remains on employed through the first six weeks of the season despite a rash of injuries that have created job openings well for more on this were joined by n. F. L. Writer grrr samuel whose life for us from london and do you think happen it has a real case against the n. F. L. Or do you think teams just think hes not worth the hassle. Is very good question i think though there is no denying that he would bring quite a huge amount of media attention. But theres also you cant deny the fact that he has more time to the many cool bucks currently employed in the n. F. L. Whether he has a case is a more difficult thing to prove. A cynic would say that yes there is no reason why he shouldnt be employed but its as much to be able to prove in a legal sense to win this case thats going to be much more difficult to us ok and just recently we saw an f l owner stand in solidarity with players did that surprise you at all. I dont think it was us surprising when donald trump dont really play is the only had no option really but to come out with a show supports but that show support really only lasted one week the following week plenty of own is told it seems we are now going to stand the Denver Broncos being one of the first ones to issue statements and we will be standing for the rest of the season. So really the only shows a poor only last one week before the very quickly try to see things on the carpet ok and we saw these protests spread to other sports in the us but havent received the same kind of reaction as in the n. F. L. Why do you think that it. Is the promise of the n. F. L. Is only sixteen games so each game gets far more media scrutiny than a sport like baseball where you have one and sixty two games is the most popular sport in america so for those reasons it makes sense that there will be far more of a spotlight shown on the n. F. L. When you compare with the m o b the n b a w n. B. A. All of which have had protests were none of which of you see the same scrutiny as the n. F. L. All right well have to leave it there for now go samuel thank you so much for your time. Elsewhere tom brady has become the all time leader for the most career regular season wins by an n. F. L. Quarterback the new willing patriots twenty four to seventeen win over the new york jets on sunday earned brady a record breaking one hundred and eighty seventh career where i think thats a great thing for any player and the only way to improve is to stay out there and i think the teams i really count on you if youre out there practicing and playing i mean you know i try to. You know. I was i started playing in sports you know its not like i had to be out there for my team and. You know work pretty hard at it so you know wish i could play a little better today but as it is at least nice to be out there the l. A. Dodgers have now taken me to nothing will beat in their playoff series against defending baseball the World Series Champions the chicago cubs Justin Turner hit a three run homer run in the bottom of the ninetys binning to lead l. A. To a four to one when the dodgers analogous to wins away from reaching their first world series in twenty nine years game three of the best of seven series take place on tuesday in chicago. I had a ball pretty good center earlier in the game and more as. The Center Fielder has been taking hits away from us. Every time we play him so i was just watching him hoping he was going to catch it and then when it did end up going over the fence obviously. I was fairly excited. Its you know its a loss. The biggest i mean you could always come back to the night and point out the guy had a home run but we got to do better than one run its got to be better than we sensibly weve kind of been stifled were pretty fortunate to be in this position right now based on the number of runs we scored over last week so we just have to we have to do a better job at the plate. Kaka has had a sad ending to his final home game for a land of citi and Major League Soccer the former future world player of the year who spent three years with orlando announced on wednesday that he would not resign resign with the club he can mark the occasion with a goal as orlando lost one nil to columbus the thirty five year old bag six goals and five assists this season. It was a very emotional game so hard to play sometimes because when i was on the field a lot of things was in my mind so it is difficult to focus on the game. Its a really really special game course i wanted to. Win. This. Is good bye is very good for me and history was made at the u. S. Open squash tournament as a husband and wife became the first couple in sporting history to win major titles on the same day egypt. Tyee both triumphed over higher ranked opposition at the event in philadelphia came from behind to win a five set thriller overcame patrick running out of one while italy for a fall a bad up with a straight sets victory over another egyptian mohamed el for a bag these were the first major titles for the pair who got married last year.
