(WSIL) -- Six local food pantries will be able to store perishable food items and feed more families thanks to a new donation from Ameren Illinois.
Whiteash Food Bank has seen an increase in the need for assistance since the beginning of the pandemic. With the rise in demand, came an increased need to store food safely to keep it fresh.
"Ameren Illinois blessed us with this freezer where we are able to store more products because of the increase need in our community," said Pastor Andy Lee, Whiteash Free Will Baptist Church. "We're able to store more things and host more food banks. We'll be able to help the needs of our community better thanks to Ameren Illinois."
