After finding renewed productivity during the great pandemic shutdown of 2020, prominent local artist Michael Oatman suffered a heart attack on Dec. 23. The following day he had a stroke while at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, where he remained for a week of care.
Now two months later, Oatman is hale and hearty and holed up in his Lansingburgh studio/home on medical leave from his faculty post at RPI. At age 56, he may not be good as new, but he estimates “maybe 90 percent as good.”
