Nery Pumpido, who won the 1986 World Cup with the Albiceleste, is adamant that
Lionel Messi is the finest player worldwide regardless whether he wins the Copa America or not.
Despite a successful career with
Barcelona, Messi has yet to celebrate a major trophy with
Argentina, but will have another chance to do on Sunday at 02:00 CEST, when his team face
Brazil in the 2021 Copa America final.
"This Argentina team has young [players] and they play well,"
Pumpido told Radio MARCA.
"
Messi is doing very well. Leo looks different, he looks very good in the team. I am very optimistic about this generation.
