The WA and federal governments will plough on with three road and rail projects worth a combined $1.067 billion in Perth and Albany despite the costs exceeding the expected community benefits.
Business cases presented to Infrastructure Australia for the $481 million Byford rail extension, $415 million removal of level crossings along the Armadale train line, and $171 million Albany Ring Road stated the benefit-cost ratio for all three proposals scored a rating of less than one.
