COVID-19 cases surge 25.6% in Utah, worst outbreaks in Summit, Utah and San Juan counties

New coronavirus cases leaped in Utah in the week ending Saturday, rising 25.6% as 22,069 cases were reported. The previous week had 17,576 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.
Utah ranked No. 6 among the states where coronavirus was spreading the fastest on a per-person basis, a USA TODAY Network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data shows. In the latest week the United States added 1,698,484 reported cases of coronavirus, an increase of 18% from the week before. Across the country, 46 states had more cases in the latest week than they did in the week before.
