He went in and actually sought Nelson Rockefellers grave and decided that he would have to get me there fairly quickly after that. Tonight at 8 00 eastern and pacific on cspan2 a day. Visit ncicap. Org] thank you so much. I am so glad to be back at the iowa state fair. This is an important opportunity to really talk about the choices that we have in front of us over the next 15 to 16 months. This fair is one of the best fares in america. I know iowans clearly believe this is the best fair. I brought one of my kids, i have my third child with me. It was her turn this i cannot begin to describe the amount of fried food that we ate on a stick, which is something that we look forward to every year. I can tell you that my son, in advising my daughter, said that she should definitely come with me this year said rebecca, you should go because, im not going to lie, it was my best food day ever. In his 15 years at the time, that was saying a lot. Again, im so glad to be here. Theres a little bit going on in the political world today. You have had an opportunity to hear from a number of candidates. I have the privilege of talking with you about the very clear contrast and the 2 choices that we have to be able to make in america over the next year or so during the course of this president ial campaign. We are at a crossroads in america. We have had republicans, who you have heard from, who have time and time again said, you know, the best thing to do is not to go forwards, but to go backwards. Lets go back to the failed trickledown economic policies of the past. Those policies that say we should focus on cutting taxes for the wealthiest most fortunate americans. Instead of democrats, who believe that we should focus on helping people reach the middle class. As a mom with three young kids, as a member of congress, the lens through which i look is what our policy choices will mean for their adult lives . What kind of america are they going to grow up in . I want them to grow up in an america that gives them a fair shot to get ahead. That makes sure everyone has an opportunity to succeed, not just the people who are already successful. That is what republicans have the been focused on. As you can see, consistently, whether it is jeb bush, marco rubio, john kasich there are so many of them it is hard to remember them all donald trump they think it is a really good idea to protect people at the top. If you take a deeper dive into the policy positions that they have taken, they are really, not only not supportive of helping move america forward, but they really want to take us backwards. They almost seem like they are focused on making sure that people have a harder time getting ahead. I will give you several examples. Lets talk equal pay. Democrats believe in equal pay for equal work. It is unacceptable in America Today that women still only earn . 78 for every dollar that a man earns. Does anyone think that that is ok, that we should leave that status quo in place . Should women earn equal pay for equal work . I have 2 daughters, and i want to make sure when they are adults they get paid the same for doing the same work that a man does in the same job. It is unacceptable in America Today that africanamerican women and latina women earn even less. Africanamerican women earn . 64 for every dollar that a man does doing the same job. Latina women earn . 56 in the same situation. That is an unacceptable policy. How do republicans respond . Like scott walker did. As governor of wisconsin he signed legislation to repeal equal pay enforcement in wisconsin. Rick perry vetoed equal pay legislation, as did Chris Christie. Marco rubio suggested that making sure that we can enforce federal law, the equal pay act, was wasting time. As a woman and a mother of 2 daughters, and as a representative of thousands of constituents of my own in south florida, i believe that we need to make sure that we fight not only to support equal pay, but to enforce it. That is what every one of our president ial candidates believes. Lets talk about health care. The important thing for us to focus on over the course of the next year and a half is what is the contrast . What are the choices . Which candidate for president of the United States is going to be supportive of the cornerstones of the middleclass life . What are those . That includes making sure that you have a good roof over your head. That makes sure that you have access you maintain access to quality Affordable Health care. Making sure you get a good education. That you have a secure retirement. Those are all cornerstones of a middleclass life. Lets look at the republican record. The republican record on all of those things, as soon as the republicans took the majority after the 2010 election, they passed legislation in the first 100 days that repealed that attempted to repeal all of president obamas efforts to ensure that people could remain in their homes. When president obama took office, we were losing 750,000 jobs a month. Now, when you fast forward to today, we have had 65 straight months of job growth in the private sector. More than 5 full years of job growth. The last several months have seen more than 200,000 jobs created. That is the kind of progress that we want to continue to see. But not under a republican presidency. We would not see that under a republican presidency, because they do not support making sure that people can keep a roof over their head. Every candidate for president on the republican side has as a top priority to repeal the Affordable Care act. What does that mean . That means that the 16 million americans who have gained access to Health Care Coverage would lose it. It means that young adults who can stay on their parents insurance until they are 26 years old would no longer be able to. That means that the 129 million americans, like i am, who live in this country with a preexisting condition i am a Breast Cancer survivor. I was diagnosed at 41 years old 7. 5 years ago. Besides, that horrible feeling of not knowing if youre going to be able to see your children grow up, the second fear you have as a Breast Cancer patient is when is the other shoe going to drop . This was before the Affordable Care act. When is the other shoe going to drop . Is the Insurance Company going to drop my coverage or deny me coverage because i have a preexisting condition . No one should face medical bankruptcy and fight not only for their life but for their Health Care Coverage. Every single candidate on the republican side will take us back to that dark place. Were not going back, are we . We are not going back. We will continue to move forward. The fifth of the republicans over the last few weeks have not had such a fun time, have they . It has really been interesting among the 18 candidates for president. If the republicans think that things have gone well, they need only to take a look at jeb bush. He actually said a couple of days ago that we are spending too much on Womens Health care. How many women in the crowd think we are already spending too much and that we should spend less making sure that women can stay healthy . Are there any hands in the air that we are spending too much . The women that i know, not only in my district, but all across america want to make sure that they can stay healthy because it is not just a womens issue to make sure that women can remain healthy, it is a family issue and an economic issue. The reason it is an economic issue is that 40 of women, 40 of households with children, are headed by a woman. A woman who was working. If woman are not able to remain healthy, if they cannot get basic access to health care, if they cannot make their own way reproductive choices and plan their families, that affects their ability to support their families in a very significant way. Lets take a look at where the republicans are on womens access to health care. Jeb bush, jeb bush supports repealing the Affordable Care act. He supports making sure that women cannot get access to health care that allows them to make their own reproductive choices. Marco rubio has the same opinion as todd akin, who supports a ban on abortion in all cases. On even in the case of rape or incest. Rape or incest. That is not where america is. Where america is is that women should have access to health care. I want to close on retirement security. Because there is a very clear contrast between where republicans and democrats are on a secure retirement. We just celebrated we just celebrated 50 years 50 years of medicare and medicaid. 80 years of Social Security. Those programs ensure that if you work hard throughout your life, if you play by the rules, when you retire you are not or when you retire you are not going to have to worry about falling through the floor. You will have a floor that will support you. That will ensure that you can feed your family. That will ensure that you can keep that roof over your head. That you will not have to choose between medicine or meals. Democrats passed Social Security and medicare. Support strengthening them and they have strengthened them. Republicans like jeb bush, they believe that we should privatize Social Security. Jeb bush supported his brothers plan to privatize Social Security. You remember how well that debate went . A that went down in a ball of flames because americans support Social Security. Americans support medicare. Jeb bush said the other day that we should phase out medicare. Does anyone think that medicare should be phased out . Should we be entitled to making sure that they have a Strong Health care and that they do not have to worry about it . We need to make sure that we have a candidate for president who focuses on making sure that we have all of the cornerstones in place of a middleclass life. It is our democratic candidate for president that will ensure that. Finally, i know i said finally once already, but really finally, lets look at the first Republican Debate. At the first Republican Debate which was held on the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights act i thought it was appalling. Well, there were a lot of things appalling, including the misogynistic comments of donald trump and the fact that none of the republican candidates on the stage called him out on any of those misogynistic comments. I could not believe that not a single candidate on the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights act actually suggested, when they want to expand access to Voting Rights, there was no mention on the stage of support for increasing peoples access to the polls. Why . When republicans began taking over the state legislatures and governors mansions, what do they do . They began restricting access to the polls. Passing Voter Suppression laws all across the country and denying people their right to vote. We have to make sure that elections are able to be conducted so that voters have a chance to maximize their access to the polls. That is what democrats stand for. We will continue to fight for every vote. Lastly lastly, i really want to close on a high note. Im so proud of the Democratic Party and our support for making sure that we are more equal in america. Today, when barack obama is president , with the support of democrats, we live in a more equal america. The Supreme Court has finally made sure that love is love. It is the law of the land. Marriage equality is something that everyone in america can enjoy no matter where they live. Let me just say, we are will going to continue to push for the type of a quality that every american deserves. I am so proud of the black lives matter movement. Changes in policy that ensure that no matter what your skin color is or your background is, that everyone has the ability to be treated fairly and equally, and not live in fear. Policy needs to change. Im proud of the young people who have been pushing that black lives matter movement. We have brought the Confederate Flag down. We have made sure that symbols of hate are unacceptable in america. Now, we need to move forward even more. What we do not need is immigration policy like that that has been spewed by the hateful comments of republican candidates for president. Donald trump, it is appalling and unacceptable that he would refer to mexicans as rapists and killers. Instead of people who just want to come here to make a better way of life for themselves and their families. I cannot even use the vulgar term that he has used, and jeb bush has doubled down on, and Many Republican candidates have called children of immigrants who are not the vulgar word that they have used, but are citizens. There has been a debate on the republican side whether to deny or take away citizenship for babies born in this country who all have legal constitutional citizenship. That is what the Democratic Party stands for. Equality of opportunity, making sure that we can support the cornerstones of a middleclass life. That is what you will get from a democratic president. I will work every single day, along with many of you, to make sure the democratic nominee for president is elected the 45th president of the United States. We will do it on the shoulders of iowa voters like we have for many election cycles. On to victory. Thank you so much. [applause] mr. Christie all right. Good morning. No speech for me this morning. I want all 20 minutes to be your questions. Lets get to your questions. The lady in the cubs hat. My question is how would you secure the border . Mr. Christie question is how would i secure the border when i become president. Four things we need to do first in urban areas around the border, we need to build a wall or fence because they are heavily populated, and that is the best way to do it. Second, we need to put fbi agents, dea agents in with Border Patrol agents to intercept the drugs and guns coming across our border. Third, we need to use electronic surveillance. We are using drones all over the world. We should use them on the southern border with cameras and other surveillance to make sure we put our human resources, Border Patrol officers, and others in the right places. They are difficult to patrol on foot. Fourth and most importantly is every employer in america has to use everify. The reason these folks are coming across the border is to work, and if they know you cannot be employed in this country if you are not here legally, they will not come will because they are only coming for a job. Here is what we need to do to reporthere is what we need to do to employers because they are part of the problem, too they need to be fined double whatever their profit is from hiring a cheaper illegal labor. If we do those things, that will secure the border, and then we can move forward and grow our economy. Be careful, do not go for just one easy answer. This is a tough problem. We have not solved it for 30 years. Lets use those tools to do it effectively and efficiently. You are you i enforced the law in new jersey for seven years as u. S. Attorney a newly six as governor. When i get to the white house, i will know how to enforce the law at the southern border. Yes, maam, back there in the purple shirt. Christie she said alzheimers is the most expensive disease in america. This is part of the reason i put forward an entitlement Reform Program to save over 1. 2 trillion. A a the National Institutes of health, their budget only went up. 1 . Were not spending money on what we need to spend to improve the quality of peoples lives. We need to partner with the private sector and the government to save it we can find a treatment and a cure for a alzheimers, extend peoples and alzheimers, extend peoples lives to make the quality of life that are, but that will only happen if the government invest, but also, we need to protect the pharmaceutical companies in this country as well. They are spending a lot of their private money to try to come up with cures and treatments as well, and then we let people steal their intellectual property. We cannot let that happen. I will protect our help her pharmaceutical a companies and the hard work that they are doing and then increase the budget for the National Institutes of health and the National Science foundation so we can get these great doctors and scientists in the United States to have all service be the next place where we bring an effective treatment and cure. We need that for our loved ones and we need that to make our country a better, more productive place. Mr. Christie first off, new jersey has already sent an our in our objection to the clean and power plan the president has put forward. The president regulates things in a way that makes no sense, kills jobs in america and kills technology and advancement of america. What we need to do this is what we do in new jersey. I think each state should be able to do the thing that works best for them. I drive throughout iowa and see wind power all over the state. It makes sense in a big wideopen state to be able to have wind power be part of what we do, to have a cleaner footprint in terms of our energy and lowercost electricity as well. In new jersey, though, we are the most densely populated state in america. 8. 9 Million People in that little space. Heres what were going to do go sit up on a bar and say to someone to name the top three states in america in solar energy production. They will get the first two because the first two are california and arizona, but youre going to win on number three because number three is the garden state of new jersey. Solar power works in our state. You dont need as much space for it. We use natural gas, and we are the Third Largest solar producer in america. You know what that means . We have reached our 2020 clean air goals already without this intervention run the obama epa that is killing jobs and killing opportunity in our country. As president , i will take the same approach. If its best for iowans, its good for the rest of the country as well. Let new jersey do what they do and all the other states do what they do as well. In the back, the lady with the blue hat. If im president of the United States, i dont think anybody who knowingly came here illegally should become a citizen. I just dont think they should become a citizen. I think american citizenship i think american citizenship is an enormous gift, and if you came here by breaking the law, i dont believe you should get it citizenship. Well have to figure out what we do. Americans do not want us adding to the number. But by the same token, we do not want people to be rewarded for knowing illegal conduct. It does not make sense. Youre just encouraging that conduct even more. Thats what i would do as president , and we would work to make sure that the folks that are here are treated fairly. The question is on National Service, americorps in particular. They were an enormous help during hurricane sandy. We are certainly grateful for it. I want to expand National Service even more, as part of the way to deal with the student debt crisis we have in this country. Students are graduating with six figures of student debt to go to college, and they have a mortgage. They cannot buy a home or get married or have children. One of the options i want to give to students is National Service to our country to help pay off their student loans. They can help make their communities, states, countries a better place. Everybody wins and it helps to lower debt. Thats what i would do as president. Yes, sir, superman. The question was fuel standards, and ive been clear on this. It goes in coordination with this ladys question we need more options, not less. We need more options to make energy more affordable, which will help us to build more manufacturing jobs we need options to make energy more affordable. On renewable fuel standards, we should enforce the laws on the books now. The law is there. Its the Obama Administration that refuses to enforce the law. What i say to other candidates make up your mind. Do not say one thing and Something Different in New Hampshire and different in south carolina. You have a position, tell the people of the country what your position is. When im president , we will enforce the law that is on the books and all the laws that are on the books. [applause] question is what is the plan to curb the influence of money. We tried every different law and every different way, the problems lawyers write these laws, and then we hire lawyers to figure out how to get around the laws they just wrote. What i would do is let anybody donate any amount of money they want to donate to any candidate, but they have to reveal that. So that you know who is giving me money and who is giving every other candidate money. Theres a lot of money being given with no transparency at all. You do not know who is giving us the money. What youre really getting at is how we are influenced by the money. Its if we change our policies. If you see someone gives me a lot of money and 24 hours later i reveal it and then two weeks later i change a position i had before to be in line with the person who gave me money, you can make the conclusion you want to make. We will always end up having money involved in politics. 330 Million People in this country, we got to communicate to them effectively to try to get elected, so lets take all the curtains away from it and make me responsible, too. If i get the money, i have to spend the money. You should be able to hold us responsible, and thats the way i would fix it. We have a system of laws in this country, and those laws need to be followed. Religious organizations should be protected from having to do anything that violates their beliefs. Other businesses who want to do business should have to do business. My oath of office is to enforce the laws of the state of new jersey, not the ones i like or agree with, but all the laws. Religious organizations absolutely should be protected. Everyone should be able to freely practice the way they see fit, but businesses should not be allowed to discriminate, no. I could only hear part of what you said. I think it was about Scientific Research and marijuana. I have a clear position on marijuana in general its illegal in the United States of america except in specific instances where its used for medical purposes. The president is allowing certain states to go ahead and use it recreationally. In my opinion thats wrong. We have to enforce the laws in this country. If folks want to make marijuana legal, go to congress and change the law, but we should not have ad hoc one state at a time changing laws. I will tell you, it creates lawlessness in this country. Thats how we get sanctuary cities, also. Because certain mayors do not want to enforce immigration laws. We should enforce the laws that are on the books. If you want to change those laws, go to congress and change them. When im president , we will enforce the laws that are on the books and enforce them aggressively. Thats a really interesting thought. This is a wiseguy who forgets that im from new jersey. Youre minor league compared to what i deal with most of the time, brother. [applause] good day. Yes, sir, in the back. I could not hear the rest of it. Move up a little. He asked about russia and china slowly getting more influence in the world and what i would do to change it. This president has been the weakest president on Foreign Policy that we have had in my lifetime. He makes jimmy carter look strong. And the fact is here is what i do first thing is we need to make sure we do more military exercises in eastern europe. We need to put Missile Defense back in poland to make sure the russians understand they have taken crimea, they are in ukraine now no further. No further for russia than what they have done already, and mr. Putin needs to understand there will be a president who will not put up with his adventurism around the world. And in china, they are building these artificial islands in the South China Sea to try to make sure they restrict shipping lanes. Those are free, open international waters. We need to rebuild our military. This president has weakened our military in a way that has made america less influential in the world, so we need to rebuild our army to 500,000 active duty soldiers. I would rebuild our military, send a clear signal to russia and china that we dont want a war, but we are not going to allow them to tread on the United States of america. [applause] he asked about the economy, the drop in the stock market this week. The devaluation of the chinese currency. To strengthen our economy, we dont need to worry about china. We need to worry about what is happening in the United States of america. Our taxes are too high. The tax code is rigged for the rich. We need to get rid of all these entitlements not entitlements, rather, loopholes, and these exceptions, and we need to just keep 2 Home Mortgage deduction and the charitable contribution deduction, and lower our rates 28 of the highend and 8 in the lowend. Let people keep their money, lower Corporate Tax rates as well so we can start creating jobs again, and there are 2 trillion offshore. Id give them a onetime chance to come and bring that money back in as long as they will invest in american jobs, get jobs growing until our kids get out of school and can be employed and works hard. [applause] i live at home with a dog named webby. I regard him as a member of my own family. Hes very kind to me, he jumps in my lap any time i sit down. He likes to play tag. I share food with him. He always wants to have some of my food. Not unlike many americans, i regard this dog as a member of my family, and yet, other animals if this dog had happened to be born a pig, you would want to torture and kill this animal. Mr. Christie this is a question about hog crates [booing] mr. Christie let me be really clear about that. When Something Like that happens and im here in iowa, man, i feel right at home. Feels like im back in jersey for a couple of minutes. Thank you, iowa, for doing that. Second, let me be really clear. I believe that farmers should be able to make the decision about how best to raise their livestock, not government bureaucrats. I vetoed that bill twice in new jersey. If it comes to my desk i will veto it again. The iran deal is the single worst thing the president has done in seven years as president , and that is a high bar. We cannot permit israel to be threatened by nuclear weapons. We cannot permit the United States to be threatened by Iranian Nuclear weapons. If i were president of the United States, i would have walked away from that table and told the iranians when they were serious, and come back to talk to me, and when i am president , the iranians will know there is a new sheriff in the oval office. I mean what i say and i say what i mean, and the ayatollah would know that, too. [applause] the gentleman from aarp shockingly wants to know about Social Security. Lets remember something a study was just done that said in seven to eight years, Social Security will be broke. We cannot allow that to happen. Social security is there to make sure that our elderly who pay into the system, played by the rules, and worked hard do not grow old in poverty, do not have to choose a between heat and rent and food. We are all living longer. We are all living longer. Women live to 83 years old in america on average. Men live to 79. I see this lady smiling. Were catching up. We need to raise the retirement age two years, but we can save it in over 25 years. Thats one month a year. It will help our kids and grandkids have Social Security be there for them. The wealthiest americans do not need to get a Social Security check. The alternative is to raise taxes on everyone. Why would we want to give more money to the government for Social Security when they already lied to us and stole from the trust fund . Fix the benefits and make those securities secure. National debt is out of control. Thats why ive said that 1. 2 trillion can be saved by making those reforms to entitlements. In new jersey as governor, i cut over 800 programs out of the budget and vetoed more spending lineitem vetoed more spending than any governor in new jersey history. I will take the same approach as president. We will control spending on entitlements, control spending in other areas and invest more in research to make us the economic power of the world and the military power of the world. Where we are nows the way we should be for the next iteration to come. Ns they are telling me my time is up. Im going to be all around. Ask me questions all day today. I love the iowa state fair. I love all of you. Appreciate it. [applause] jindal and thank you so much for having me. I think this election is all about saving the American Dream and the idea of america. Every time president obama speaks, it is all about redistribution. Government spending, government dependence. I do know about you, but that is not the American Dream that our parents taught us. I want to briefly tell you my parents story and what we have got to do to fight and save the American Dream. My parents have lived the American Dream. My dad is one of nine children. The first and only one in the family to get past the fifth grade. Grew up in a house without electricity or running water. I know because we heard those stories every single day growing up. Heres the amazing thing. First 45 years ago, the time my parents got on a plane, they came halfway across the world to baton rouge, louisiana. They had ever visited. They didnt know anybody who had been here and could tell them what it was like. They left their families, friends. My mom was pregnant with me. I tried to explain to my kids you couldnt google back then. Coming to an idea as much as they were coming to a place. They were coming to the idea of freedom and opportunity. They were coming to the American Dream. When they got here, my mom went to school at lsu. Thats right. My dad didnt come here to be dependent on the government. He came here to get a job. He got his first job calling through the yellow pages. Six months later i was born. I was what you would politely call a preexisting condition when i was born. There was no obamacare or government contracts or reforms. I love what my dad did next. He went to the doctor. Shook his hand. And promised to send him a check every month until he paid that bill in full. And that is exactly what he did. [applause] thats what we used to do in this country. I asked my dad, how does it work to pay for a baby on layaway . [laughter] if you skip a payment, do they take the baby back . He said, youre such a bad little baby we would have sent you back. The reason i tell you that story, my parents came here to chase the American Dream. They caught it, they lived it. I want my children and grandchildren to live the same dream. I might as well say this as well. When my parents came to this country, they came to this country legally. [applause] immigration policy can either make a country stronger or weaker. Policydumb immigration makes a country weaker and that is what we have today. We dont need a thousand page bill. It is time to secure the border once and for all. [applause] we could get it done in six months if we were serious. Youve got big business interests in d. C. That dont want the border security. They want amnesty. They pay for protesters. They try to silence free speech. We are going to stand up to the big business interests. We dont care [applause] the big business interests can buy as many tshirts and banners as they want. We are going to secure our border. We are a nation of laws. [applause] the Republican Party is not the party of big government. We should not become the party of big business either. It is time to put an end to sanctuary cities. Wantsfine that congress to defund them. Lets do more. Lets hold those mayors and city councilman criminally responsible as accessories for the crimes committed by people who shouldnt be here in the first place. Lets lock them up o. [applause] dont want us to be a melting pot. They think it is politically incorrect to say, if you want to come here, you should want to be an american. I am here to tell you that the folks who want to come here, it f you want to come to our country, come legally. Learn english. [applause] our values, and when you get here, roll up your sleeves and get to work. [applause] i dont know about you, but i am tired of the hyphenated americans. We are not african americans, asian americans, rich americans, poor americans. We are all americans. It is time to stand up to this nonsense. [applause] chief wants us to continue the left says it is politically incorrect. I think it is foolish. If you want to come to this country, you should want to be an american. If you dont want to be an american, dont come here. No one is forcing them to come here in the first place. [applause] lets be clear. Lets be clear. Immigration without assimilation, without integration, that is not immigration. It is invasion. We must not let that happen in america. [applause] you want to see the contrast, look at europe. Second and Third Generation immigrants that dont consider themselves parts of those countries. We must not let that happen in america. By the way, we shouldnt give anybody freedoms to come here and use those freedoms to undermine the freedoms for other people. To have a for america smart immigration policy. It is time for us to say, if you want to come here, be an american, learn the language, adopt our values, and get to work. [applause] and again, the big business interests can send as many junkets as they want and interrupt as many speeches as they want and buy as many tshirts as they want. It is time to stand up to big businesses and say we are taking our country back. That gets me to my next point. As republicans, as conservatives, we have to do Something Different. It is time for us to embrace our own principles. What i mean by that . Say we haveb bush to be willing to lose the primary in order to win the general election. Folks, i disagree with that. Let me translate that for you. That is the establishment telling us to hide our beliefs, telling us to try to get the left and the media to like us again. Im here to tell you that never works. If we do that again, we will lose again and we will deserve to lose again. [applause] time for us to embrace our own principles. When did this conservative society give up fighting for our beliefs . When did we decide to quit on the American Dream . Conservatism is not dead in america, it is simply dead in washington, d. C. It is time for us to stand up to the permanent political insiders. They took the majority last year. What changed in d. C. . Nothing. They told us they would fight amnesty, repeal obama. Nothing has changed. The reality is the leaders in d. C. Are happy the Supreme Court ruled against us on obamacare. They are afraid of winning. Only in d. C. Is losing a good thing. Im here to tell you this. They are scared to fight for freedom. They are scared to fight against they areernment afraid to fight against universal coverage. They are afraid to fight for Less Government dependence. It is time for us to stand up and take our party back. To force it down their throats. It is time to put an end to this nonsense of career lifetime permanent politicians. Lets take america back. [applause] think how different our country would be if they had to live under the same rules they applied to the rest of us. It is time for us to get parttime, term limited legislators and lets pay them for every day they stay out of d. C. Rather than every day they go to d. C. Government. Nk our i want to Say Something that is politically incorrect. The idea of america is slipping away. The idea of america is slipping away right in front of us. What do i mean by that . That manyn by that is americans are attempting to take america for granted. My parents would never take america for granted. Every day, they give thanks they were blessed to be born in the greatest country in the history of the world. Seeing. What we are hillary clinton, barack obama are trying to turn the American Dream into the european nightmare. Give Bernie Sanders credit. At least he is honest enough to call himself a socialist. [applause] these other two arent any better. They just wont admit it. Is slippingamerica away from us. 18 trillion of debt. Planned parenthood using our taxpayer dollars to terra part babies and sell their organs across this country. Our government creating an Entitlement Program and we cant afford the ones we have today. They government that has made a war on trends that and a truce greatest sponsor terrorism in the world. Our president is so politically correct he cant even say the words radical islamic terrorism . How can he beat our enemies if you cant even define our enemies . He has the epa regulating the water in our backyards. Moreve now a bigger, expansive, more expensive, more intrusive federal government than ever before. The idea of america is slipping away. That is why it is time for us to stand up and take it back. I am not going to let the idea of america slip away as long as ive got breath. I will do everything i can to get the idea of america back. [applause] the idea of america has generated more wealth than any other civilization in the history of the world. It has done more for freedom than any other civilization in the history of the world. It has done more to fight for the defenseless than any other civilization in the history of the world. We must not let it slip away. Shame on those fools in d. C. Who are giving it away. Shame on us if we allow it to do that. Are a lot of great speakers running for president. You have a lot of folks. Im not the best looking candidate. My daddy wasnt president. I dont have a reality tv show. But i have the backbone, the bandwidth, the experience to get this job done. And i will be ready on the first day. We cant afford the next commanderinchief will be across the table from a putin or an ayatollah. A better not need teleprompter, talking points, or a great staff here at. Im asking you to fight with me with gods grace. We can rescue the idea of america before it slips away. We cannot waste a minute. Im asking you to believe again today. Not tomorrow, not next week, not next month. Those folks sent out here by the egg business interests, big business interests, if you want freedom, follow the laws. Do what my parents did. [applause] we are the greatest country in the history of the world. They can be excused. We have a president who doesnt follow the law. A Supreme Court the default constitution. Hillary clinton thinks the laws to apply to her. No wonder they think the laws dont apply to them. If you want freedom and you love america, follow the laws. Learn english. Adopt our values. And get to work. God bless you all and thank you very much. [applause] we have time for questions. Yes, sir. Safe reliable affordable electricity. We have to do all of the above. This president wants energy to be scarce and expensive. We have to have solar, ethanol, wind, oil, gas, clean coal. And we have to get the epa out of the way. Theragged in his state of union about increasing oil and gas production. Thats like the rooster taking credit for the sun coming up. [laughter] production is going down. We need affordable energy. We can start by getting the epa out of the way. Good jobs are jobs that pay well, offer benefits. The way you create more good jobs, we cant have the highest tax rate in the world. You have to lower the tax rate and shrink the government. You either grow the government economy or the american economy. They arely mutually exclusive. Budget 26 . Weve got 30,000 fewer state bureaucrats than the day i took office. I have an Energy Independence plan. You bring exploration and manufacturing jobs. We also need to repeal obama care. All of the regulations are getting in the way of hiring and expanding. We have rollback this regulatory state. They dont even do costbenefit analysis when they do these regulations. Congress needs to vote on them before unelected bureaucrats strangle our economy. We can still dominate this century but we have to get government out of the way. Yes sir. Great question about the rising influence of russia and china. We have to stop hollowing out our military. This president thinks weakness is the key to peace. Weakness is provocative to evil. It never works. In in eastern ukraine, isis in the middle east because he is trying to retreat from the world. Reagan understood peace through strength actually works. I never want our military in a fair fight. I want our military to dominate any fight we send them into. [applause] it is unfair to send them into a fight without the resources they need. The question was how do we spread the republican message to use. Youth. Young voters, are you really better off than before president obama got elected . Those good paying jobs he promised to materialize. He said the world would be safer and now he is telling us he cant beat isis in a generation. Are you really better off . Who is smarter . Who knows better how to run your life . You are the government . You or the government . The left doesnt think you are smart enough to have Second Amendment gun rights, to decide how your kids should be educated, to disband th spend yn money, to know how many big. Ulps you should be drinking trust tosk who do you live your lives, you or the government . And i would say this to the president. Froml defend my children microwave popcorn, oreos, and deepfried candy bars if he will do his job as commanderinchief radicalnd us from islamic terrorists. [applause] i think i heard the question. Im not for discrimination against anybody. But i also dont think the government should be intruding on the matters. You have an allout assault against christian Business Owners. There are christian florists, musicians, and caterers being forced to choose between following their conscience and being able to operate their business. The real discrimination we see today are against individuals who want to continue seeing marriage but going between a man and a woman. I signed an executive order in louisiana saying we wont discriminate against Business Owners or individuals who have a traditional view of marriage. Now is suing us. I think we are all created equal in gods eyes. I think the discrimination happening today is against christian Business Owners and individuals that want to follow their conscience. Yes sir. Iowa, estion was, i was in they came out with their decision on marriage and obamacare, and i was asked what should we do about the court. And i said, if the court cant be bothered to read the constitution, according to scalia, they dont know what maybe wen anymore, could get rid of the court altogether. I know the left didnt like that. Im willing to just get rid of two thirds of the court and keep three of them. Because there are three of them that actually follow the constitution. [applause] thank you. She said a lot of the people she works with says every politician is a liar. One of them has to be a good one. Shes asking me, mi a good one am i a good one . [applause] let me say this. I think there is a reason the folks you talk about say every politician is a liar. We are tired of politicians that say one thing and do another. Just once i would like them to fight for what they believe in. They have an opportunity now. They rolled over on amnesty, they better take a stand against funding planned parenthood. How in the world can our tax dollars go for these barbaric activities . I think there is right. This is in. The best thing i can tell you im going to support the rule of law. I am in support of religious liberty and traditional marriage. We have a woman here who disagrees with that as well. I will tell you what i believe. I will do what i say. Im willing to give everything i got to fight to protect the idea of america. If you are looking for someone to manage the slow decline of this country, go vote for somebody else. If you want someone who is going to fight to save the idea of america, to rescue the American Dream from becoming the european nightmare and take us off the path to socialism, believe again. Go to bobbyjindal. Com. We are building a movement. We are going to take our country back and secure our border and enforce our laws. God bless yall and thank you very much.
