show a third consecutive increase in pending sales. what happened? >> the national association of realtors says the halt in foreclosures has slowed the housing market some and they expect that may hold back sales over the next few months. analysts point to high unemployment. the unemployment rate is stuck above 9.5%. >> and several realtors complained that the recent foreclosure paperwork problems are scaring away buyers. the attorney generals of 50 states are investigating but many won't be in office next year. how does that affect things? >> some of the key officials are leaving office. some lost reelection, others won election just for another office or they are retiring. officials insist the substantial probe will move along just fine pointing out state's attorneys general are changed all the time and many that havjobs now are keeping them next year. >> rich edson live for us in washington.
