NATICK — The developer of a new building proposed for the site of a July 2019 fire that destroyed a downtown business block says he might pull the plug on the project after the five-member Planning Board failed to achieve the four votes necessary to move it forward.
The board’s 3-2 vote supports a revised draft decision between the board and developer Stuart Rothman for a proposed two-story building at 1 South Main St.
However, because the decision included the board's prior approval of a special permit on a zoning bylaw, four affirmative votes were necessary to support the draft decision.
The property has remained vacant since the July 22, 2019, fire.
