The Dakshina Kannada district administration is preparing a decentralised disaster management plan for the upcoming monsoon season to address potential natural disasters. Every gram panchayat will appoint an incident commander, and areas prone to flooding are being surveyed. Various government departments are strategizing to handle the situation, with instructions given to Mescom, the fisheries department, school education, and the forest department. Precautionary measures are being taken in Mangaluru City Corporation limits, including mapping flood-prone areas and clearing stormwater drains. The DC has instructed officials to identify at-risk areas and residents, especially pregnant women and the elderly, for necessary arrangements and relocation to safer locations.
