In. Office. The name is. Welcome to the program if youve launched a military offensive after rebel forces allegedly attacked an army base unites in the civil war there are reports that heavy fighting has broken out in the north and state of the great where the government says local forces federal troops in the city of mackellar trouble has been brewing since the region held elections last month in defiance of the Central Government from minister ahmed who won the Nobel Peace Prize in tweens in 19 said been killed in a televised address he said red line had been crossed. For 20 years the National Defense force has been in the bunkers defending this country by paying heavy sacrifices with its blood and flesh its been attacked this evening in mikhail e. And many other places by traitors and the forces the organized that we are going to look for more on whats happening and i think yeah im now joined by my riyadh dad Nicholas School our correspondent in a decent hello there are reports of heavy fighting in the region what more can you tell us what do we know so far is that the Prime Minister it cuse forces in the to agree region of attacking federal military bases in order to steal military equipment he said very early in the morning that he had launched a military operation in response to that and he also said that the attack carried out by the greater region have called i cowrote many marketeers injuries and Property Damage without giving exact numbers and there are also rumors of gunshots being heard by locals in the degraded capital and that kelly however is that it is very difficult to get any information out of to agree at the moment as the internet and phone lines have been completely shut off now. Or that the military like you said to quote carry out the mission to save that country what exactly does that mean. The athlete said in a Statement Today that war cannot be prevented only on the good will and decision of one side and that he had used all means to thwart military engagement basically what hes saying is that the ruling party in the theater a region so basically his Opposition Party or one of his opposition parties has crossed a red line after months of political tensions and that he now has to intervene to safeguard the countrys stability although many are saying that this is a very dangerous move now can you help us understand a bit more here what are the lead to deescalate the situation between the gray states or the federal government tensions have been growing between the 2 great Peoples Liberation front or p. L. S. The basically the ruling party in the to gray region and the Prime Minister of the ahmed ever since obviously it came to power in 2018 that the grand party had a huge political power for decades before abby who is from the room yeah region was appointed Prime Minister so for the past 2 years to gradients have been signed sidelined from the political scene and its officials are feeling that they are being unfairly targeted and scapegoated for the countrys problems last year they also refused to join abbys new Coalition Party the Prosperity Party and they opposed the governments decision to postpone elections due to the cope in 1000 pandemic of this has led to these other tensions have led to this escalation of which we still know little about ok and our briefly on this one how ordinary ethiopians reacting to the increase in violence. As i said its impossible to communicate with anyone integrate at the moment and i would say people are mostly worried worried because because they cannot talk to their relatives theyre worried about a possible Armed Conflict theyre asking themselves is there going to be a civil war and yet so were seeing a lot of people calling for authorities to work toward the escalation and conflict resolution maybe i get and even less to beat up your correspondent in ethiopia thank you for your time. Your return in 2019 welcoming africanamericans back home to the continent now some to get what you need to leave the u. S. And resettling ghana correspondent isaac metz were 2 americans who swapped north america but a gold coast but are closely watching developments back home already in my home everything from mass to car to a new cozy steel there is no escaping president ial politics. Those who were born in the u. S. Say their home is now gonna. But theyve still been gripped by their fish story collection. And dont. You get this is that we are concerned because it seems to be taking longer than others. And i think a lot of that is also orchestrated because. Because of the timing i think the timing has a lot of it you know you stretch the drama out as long as you can so that the people are excited he needs to be removed this election you cannot continue with a madman during a pandemic whose ego all he cares about is winning for himself not for the country the 2 friends unserved ghanas call for its global diaspora to retard home after feeling worn daryn by racism and then equality of opportunity and the birth place. The only reason is the color of our skin so i think that its not my education its not by religion or culture its by the color of our skin and thats a really sad thing. I think that the opportunity in africa is here at the end of the day it leaves us to look as americans very lost confused thats why im here the reason why im in ghana because im looking for new and New Territory where i can feel at home and i believe that i can build for myself and my familys future america doesnt look that inviting anymore because in the end the day youre going to go another 100 years people be marching by whatever this election result here are 2 americans who voted with their feet turning their backs on an american name and share of the african dream. Now its not just the impact of elections is being felt across the continent. Where South African diplomatic Brahim Rossouw u. S. Ambassador to the u. S. From 2010 to 2015 our correspondents. Fresh began by asking him whats trumps false claims of electoral fraud tell africans. The missing jet is sending with claiming victimhood electoral fraud and the possibility of not giving up office is as dangerous as the one that says that when you are the president there is no conflict of interest between you your family and the resources of a country that is an absolutely dangerous negative if. We struggled hard to get rid of people who. Didnt for office said to be removed from office who would then use the army to pose to themselves would play disputes on the elections. And who reached themselves and their families inadvertently donald trump and the positioning of his family had given African People who also went to benefit their families a free pass it almost said its ok for the president to look after his family we have learned in south africa and in africa that its not ok mali that is a major defeat that africa would suffer if that narrative were to become a globally accepted by president how would you describe the presidency what impact did it have on the african continent. A whole 4 years was maybe not different to obamas 1st 4 years they did nothing on africa. And obama understandably because he was finding his feet he was consumed with policies and all of those kind of things and had an opportunity to do something with a. But it never entered the Attention Span at all but companies didnt see was bad for africa in that he looked for a trade war with china which meant that china was facing all kinds of tariffs was cutting back on trade with africa and therefore africa as a growth spurt continent had fallen back and then covert 19 so im hoping that if there is a stimulation of the u. S. Economy and the democratic. Presidency that it did freeze up the economy as well as have a different tone in the relationship with china so that china can at least help to pull africa out of the covert 19 crisis that we have. In that is that i think that we are looking for that was a broken rossouw from a South African ambassador to the u. S. Speaking to d. W. Correspondents again crash in cape town. Every year the United Nations and as that woman and the thought of policing for her outstanding work and achievements and this that i want goes to doreen mulumbu from zambia well ambo is currently serving on a mission in south sudan where she works agenda advice from their single mother spoke about her experience of working in a war zone and how shes helping other women on the front line of some of the wilds toughest conflicts you need as a Police Officer who is in your own form i tremble i mean. Then there will be no hope for these south sudanese we meet so i started advising them encouraging them telling them that this will all go for them they were saying there has winds in the bush fighting and some of the women where even new conveyor belts will take. The ammunition to take the food to the people were fighting and then i started giving them some experience which i gained from liberia and how they liberia and we made money to bring peace in their own country it wasnt really the main that it was the women who fought for the peace in liberia some of them they have been is that didnt want to be a part of bunce. Granting opportunities global news that matters d. W. Made some minds. Out of. The United States of america a nation a culture deeply divided amid a president ial election thats been like no other well talk to a bestselling american novelist and a former white house videographer about this years fight for power and later on arts and culture how these past 4 years of trump turned hollywood political. Welcome to arts and culture my 1st guest is literary heavyweight and bestselling american author geoffrey you genitives his books include the Pulitzer Prize winning novel Middlesex Jeffrey Genovese thanks for joining me how are you. Coping and im holding up all right this morning ok i wanted to start syria in part because i really believe that novelists are some of the best experts that we have on the human heart and mind and im wondering how you understand these 2 clashing realities in america do trump and biden voters really have different core values. Yeah i used to feel that as a novelist i understood my country but im sort of waiting to see what happens in the selection too to see if i if i do or not im from michigan and michigan is one of the states in play right now and the 1st time that trump prevailed there unlike a lot of my friends in new york i understood what was going on with the people who had voted twice for obama and then switched over to trump because of a feeling of being left behind and if you grew up in michigan and you saw what happened to the factories and what happened with the loss of jobs you could understand why a certain amount of the populace might decide you know resentful wages to strike out and vote for trump now if if it happens again im a little bit at a loss to say that i understand my my my countrymen her a large part of them. Do i think theres different i think its just become this is a common place but i think its become tribal as an identity issue where you think you will or a conservative you cant be a liberal you cant be a democrat those are those are terrible people and you just cling to to your side of the fence in that way and its almost not about issues anymore its just a sense of identity you know just briefly before trump was elected the 1st time you told us did over here that you thought he was a little bit like this literary figure the wizard of oz the figure who seems to have all the power but hard choice has not and are you sort of that back in 2016 do you still feel that way. I guess i dont think its that a terrible comparison i mean right now hes saying that hes going to stop the voting in co go to the Supreme Court he is acting like he controls things controls the levers of power lets see if he does that i dont think ultimately he does i do think obviously hes a charlatan and you know thats not what he says he is and at some point thats going to be revealed the question is when now i know that a lot of americans who are talking about this are talking about this election with their therapist thats what a lot of my friends are telling me youve talked about seeing a therapist before is this something that you think you would talk about unfair of me. No not not at all i fairly optimistic about the country as a whole there he is a personal thing i dont i dont cost too much money to talk about politics and there Jeffrey Toobin thanks so much for coming on arts and culture my pleasure raw nerves all over about this election american rapper carty be as they say an internet speak all of us she posted this video of her Election Night experience relieving stress the Old Fashioned way. Writer t c boils dark poetic response to the evening he tweeted yes the night wears on and i feel bleak and cord out as some wong dead creature washed ashore from an ancient see. Here actress Kirstie Alley sends out a prayer before she goes to sleep and john q 2nd response to trumps early election when call is frustrating saying he thinks hes. And just for years weve seen hollywood and the Music Industry go from being more or less buddies with the Obama White House to becoming a bastion of the opposition since trumps winning 2016 american artists have become more political than ever theres a look back. Lights camera the stage and drama in his element he likes to play the starring role after all for years he was a t. V. Star in the reality for much of the apprentice but he has attitude to house being problematic even before he was sworn in celebrities are lined up against him. Being inclusive being diverse country built on immigrants. Fairness these are the things that americans want to be thats what we resonate to. Trumps presidency began with a Culture Shock the president announces the abolition of cultural funding americas artists sound the alarm at the Golden Globes awards so many Actress Meryl Streep spoke out. Disrespect invites disrespect violence incites violence. When the powerful use their position to bully others we all lose the list of prominent opponents for music culture in show business is long but donald trump also has some supporters clint eastwood. And bruce springsteen. And single lady gaga. The rift between the and to tell human wont and dont trump is. He does have supporters but most artists who spoke out back to changing direction for the us. My next guest is political filmmaker a run chowder his book 1st camera man tells about the years he spent as the official white house videographer under president barack obama and then Vice President joe biden. Shattered franks for joining me i just want to show a video that you shot and recently posted its one of the most talked about videos this election cycle footage of democratic candidate joe biden can you just tell me a little bit about what were going to see and what made you tweet it just before the election sure this was footage i had the honor of working a lot with Gabby Giffords who was a congresswoman from arizona who had been shot by shot by a gunman and sort of the recurring covering it was a very public thing in the u. S. And when the march for our lives happened after the Florida School shooting in washington d. C. She was having a greet with the students and she invited the president along by who was a friend of mark kellys who actually just won the senate race in arizona extremely recently and. I was just there covering this event and the Vice President greeted a bunch of people and then this moment happened that youll see but it was sort of a very private and special moment that i knew was very potent and actually about a year ago when it when things started to become clearer i guess less than a year ago in the democratic primary i actually said in alarm i calendar alarm it was like 2 weeks before the election like deploy the biden footage so you know level when a plan comes together when you have something that is meaningful as in greeting this young mans young mentally handicapped man at the event. You dont want to push it out right away thats right and its so and i think it was so powerful too because it just is so the opposite of the tone of what were seeing now just briefly youre obviously not a biden fan but you have visited youre not a trump fan but you have visited trump rallies youve talked about what makes them powerful can you just clue us in so that. Yeah i mean trump i think a lot of times people are like oh hes letting down his supporters hes doing this hes doing that they dont understand the message is simple and its very compelling and hes very good at selling it which is prove them wrong all of it you know the experts the elite the scientists your boss whoever it is just proves them wrong and his sort of ability to keep doing that over and over again in elections is what his people like more then filling a policy here and there he is sort of the evidence of their wrongness and it fills people full of something i mean he has these very long rallies where hes you know speaking extemporaneously for sometimes an hour and a half and yes sometimes a little bits dont necessarily make sense when you pull them out but the whole thing pates a picture ok and he eat it really is an entertainer around chowder thanks so much for coming on the show. Thanks. Donald Trump Presidency during his time in office weve seen ongoing violence against black americans notably at the hands of Police Officers one major phenomenon during term time in the white house has been the rise of the black lives Matter Movement both on the streets and on movie screens or film correspondent caught up with leading africanamerican filmmakers black lives matter protests existed before trump but the Trump Presidency has energized the movement before the election films by in about black people films that look at teens of racism and Police Violence have taken center stage. After the killing of george floyd director spike lee posted the film editing real life footage with a similar chokehold death of eric garner in 2014 and scenes from his own 1909 film do the right thing the right thing was based upon it will live chokehold murder. And then the end. You know not just by strangulation well i was being shadowed there with guns. News live from barbarian still no window with a handful of battleground states set to decide the u. S. President ial race democrats claim challenger joe biden is on track to win. And then over to every vote is counted theyre pretty balanced around frankly we did win this for the. Extraordinary intervention presents trump also claims victory even before counting his complaints have been threatening to go to the Supremes Court to get it stopped. Im phil darrell welcome to the program. Well a day after polling ameri still no clear outcome in the u. S. President ial election democratic challenger joe biden and President Trump along with america and the rest of the world are waiting for results from just a few key states as those last votes are counted the president has already claimed victory and alleged electoral fraud without presenting any evidence its also a threat to take the matter to the Supreme Court joe biden has called for patience but his supporters are confident that hes on track to win. So lets take a look at the results so far neither donald trump nor joe biden have the 270 Electoral College vote both they need to win but a possible path to victory for mr biden has emerged in the last a couple of hours it started in arizona figures show the democratic candidate has a salable lead thats only state hes won back from republican control so joe biden now needs 32 more Electoral College votes to win the white house so lets look at the 3 states in which hes currently leading the counting which could give him victory in this election is creeping closer to live in wisconsin which has 10 Electoral College votes he also has a slight lead in michigan which has 16 votes now wins in michigan and wisconsin would leave him chasing only 6 more Electoral College votes which takes us to the 3rd state in which the democratic candidate is currently leading thats nevada a 6 Electoral College votes on offer there if he maintains his lead in those 3 states until the end of counting then in theory that could make joe biden the next president of the United States but and its a big but the race for the 270 votes its still very much open i figure show that joe biden is currently on 238 and the president from 213 well now i even though more than 100000000 americans are voted early and there was still long lines when polling booths election day and lots of people continued to press a message to long after they had voted. And tried their best to make their voices heard on shes doing from black lives matter protests in d. C. To dueling trump and biden supporters in miami crowds are and you. When many tense hours as vote counting is still underway. The 2 candidates are locked in a tight race with both confident of winning the election. We believe were on track to win a selection or. Premier or because if they are pressured an early vote a maryland vote is going to take a while were going to have to be pressure until we the hard work of talent votes is finished. But President Trump didnt wait already claiming victory before votes were counted. I think we were getting ready to win this election frankly we did win this election. This is a major fraud or a nation we want the law to be used in a proper manner so well be going to the u. S. Supreme court trump was referring to mailing votes to be accepted after election day in several states but the system is fully legal and its used by tens of millions of people. This election is expected to have one of the highest mountain turnouts in recent history even during a pandemic indicating just how important she states mood was for the American People. I voted for the greatest president in history gone ok sharon chump is doing nothing for us now that hes going to have everything more in the control than what. Trump does but it looks like the situation will not be on the controller that soon as President Trumps a statement throws to country in a state of uncertainty many in the u. S. A bracing for a political storm. Lets go straight to washington for the latest from. Where things stand at the moment. Phil the latest state of play has really change of the last few hours the 6 states are still officially too close to call those states weve heard them pennsylvania wisconsin michigan in the midwest and also georgia arizona and nevada and some of those states are still counting ballots that being said the numbers are getting a little bit clearer and election official from wisconsin was speaking to media here just a short while ago and she said that the counting of ballots in that state is just about done but again the official process of certifying the vote total so that means actually declaring a winner a will not happened yet and i think its important to point that out because in some of these battleground states observers here predicted precisely this scenario that we might have President Trump for example appearing to be a had in a state like pennsylvania but as those mail in ballots trickle in accountant things can get tighter and that is what were seeing now and this really is a really difficult process for Election Officials are going county by county ballot by ballot this is meticulous work and theyre trying to make sure that each ballot is counted 1st of all and then counted accurately now a despite the fact that we still dont really have an entirely clear picture of the result here former Vice President joe bidens campaign has remarkably been expressing confidence his Campaign ManagerJennifer Omalley dillon spoke to media earlier and she said that she believes joe biden has a clear path to victory heres what she said. You know we expect as i said to see over the course of today as more michigan comes in as more georgia comes and these these races in these states be finalized we think most of them will close to be being able to be called though we do know as i said with pennsylvania that could take time and thats morrow but if we carry the states that were leading today that we talked about we would get 6070 without pennsylvania and so we heard general mommy delimit talking about pennsylvania perhaps tomorrow what do you think were likely to have an idea of the final Electoral College tally if i know were all very anxious to have some sort of final tally were getting closer to that but as i mentioned with wisconsin theyve indicated that counting is finished but it still is too soon to tell when we will have an official final result and weve mentioned this before you know states actually have about a month to officially certify the results until early december that means to declare that winner in their state so even though weve heard president criticize any sort of lengthy process saying that a winner should be declared right away while the constitution does technically allow that time it is part of the process so we are all anxious and waiting but we might see regardless some sort of more definitive result over the course of today over the course of the next few days next few weeks but again we have to say that it is still too soon to say when we might have a final tally fill im just speculating even if joe biden does win it wont be bought in much i mean it will be hugely controversial. Yeah it definitely will be felt i mean President Trump you know as for months been sowing doubt over mail in ballots which is the source of controversy here we heard him do it again on Election Night when he preprinted really declared victory in any indication weve had from President Trump is that he will not accept a loss without some sort of fight we just dont know how big that fight might actually be and i should also say feel democrats cannot be all that happy with the this result even if joe biden ends up winning i mean they wanted a landslide victory they thought that this president has been so polarizing that he is mismanaged as they see it the coronavirus pandemic and so many other issues that voters would go to the polls and rebuke him there and that is clearly not what were seeing instead the numbers reflect actually what w. What our team saw and heard from the voters that we spoke to on the road that this country really is pretty split down the middle still enthusiasm for the election has been record breaking and because of the massive turnout in this election its been projected that joe biden will get more votes than any other president in history because of this record turnout so thats certainly something that they could be happy about ok so you mentioned there the dog donald trump is is not going to accept defeat likely talk with through whats likely to happen in terms of the legal challenges. Well we did hear president Campaign Manager bill stepien speaking a little bit earlier to reporters today and here we enforced what the president said in that speech overnight that they would forge ahead with the legal efforts to make sure that legally cast votes are counted not not legally cast votes are counted and President Trump has claimed that he would take this to the Supreme Court that but we have to say feel that if these are lawfully cast ballots were talking about its not clear what grounds he could challenge them on so there is a lot up in the air and a lot of americans around the world as well people are wondering what might happen if this dispute continues so we took a closer look. Donald trump versus joe biden both were determined to win the election but neither of them has emerged as a clear winner the u. S. Could be in for days even weeks of uncertainty the Record Number of ballots sent by mail will now become the focus of a bitter fight. Absentee ballots made it easier for americans to vote and that the coded 1000. 00 pandemic but absentee ballots are also more likely to be delayed slowed down by mistakes or even rejected something that is now dictating a bents across the u. S. We will 1st see fights oh over whether certain absentee ballots should be counted or not be counted with the Election Administrators in those states it wont be surprising if whichever side loses those battles runs to court to try to get a court to overturn it with election day over the clock is ticking there are a couple of dates to keep in mind december 8th is safe harbor day that is the deadline for states to declare a result if they want to guarantee that their decision will count towards the national outcome. The next deadline on december 14th the Electoral College has developed that is the body that actually elects the president the state select either republican or democratic electors depending on the results. If there is still a dispute at that point it could get really complicated both sides might claim victory that means states could end up with opposing groups of electors one for biden another for Trump Congress would be forced to decide between them but if we get to that point were already in a dark and dangerous place and if the process drags out over some significant period of time even though the media is preaching patience to the public i think in our social media toxic political culture. That could become a more explosive situation. Fairly quickly some americans worry that a more explosive situation could look like this the president s supporters and opponents fighting on the streets if there was no clear result for several days or even weeks Law Enforcement and even the military could be called in to bring things under control and what about another scenario that democrats fear and that President Trump himself has refused to rule out if the ballots show the president losing but he refuses to accept the result and tries to hang on to the presidency. While the current president s term ends on january 20th by virtue of the constitution period i would assume that any officials who might need to be involved in making sure that transition happens will follow the commands of the newly elected President Biden because he would be the president the legal fight started months ago the democrats and the republicans have amassed an army of lawyers who have already been clashing in court over how and when ballots should be counted now they will push that legal battle as far as it takes to decide the outcome of the election. So we saw was gonda reporting well leading into the election polls indicated that the economy was the biggest election issue for American Voters with millions out of work because of the coronavirus pandemic many are hoping the next president will be able to restore jobs and deliver much another much needed stimulus package. Jubilation among Trump Supporters in Florida Cuban americans are reliable Republican Voters and many of them are especially pleased with the president s handling of the economy. Im here as a martyr and i think you know. Youve got a credible dobbys your car brought back. An exit poll conducted by n. B. C. News found that was the issue that mattered most to voters coming in far ahead of other hot button topics like racial inequality the coronavirus pandemic crime and safety and Health Care Policy trumps tax cuts on deregulation have been popular as home quite a few people in the us think that trump is better for the economy domestically that is probably correct for some sectors those which would otherwise be regulated which would otherwise be regulated especially with the green tilled but internationally the outlook is probably different but while americans seem to be happy with trumps handling of the economy his policies in International Trade have raise hackles and worries a broad. Of course for germany for europe President Biden probably would be easier he probably would be less confrontational. But he may also be more clever in pursuing american interests in particular on tree trunks campaign has generally been lights on policy pronouncements so theres no real hints as to whether. Hell double down on his confrontational course or not it will be dave before we find out if youll get the chance. So how are u. S. Markets reacting to. Lets bring financial correspondent. Yes this is not the decisive on the markets have been hoping for. No its not but we see a massive rally on the wall street the tech heavy nasdaq composite does up by more than 4 percent so thats really a lot for one day of blue chips up by around 700 points or or good 2 percent its really interesting in the past couple of days there was talk that blue sweep would be good for the markets because that would make a stimulus package and a bigger pick its more likely and now that seems pretty on likely and now i hear that we might see the regulation and that might be good for the Big Technology companies also for the Energy Industry and thats where we see part of the biggest gains in todays session we did see polls indicate that about 35 percent of voters regard the economy as the most important issue and do the results so far reflects that. Well i mean that was the big debate before the elections what matters most to voters is that the economy or is that dependent make stupid as bill clinton put us in this campaign in the ninetys just was the economy clearly or not was the pandemic so obviously the economy did matter more for American People and look for example at africanAmerican Voters before the pandemic started we saw the lowest Unemployment Rate for some of those serve minority groups and that obviously let at least some of them to give the vote to donald trump. Well though they are closely fought race for the white house is the headline act American Voters arent just choosing a president democrats are forecast to retain their majority in the house of representatives left wing democrat alexandria a cortez was reelected as were the other 3 like minded congresswoman who are known as the squad for challenging the washington status quo. In kenya anticipated race for arizonas 2nd senate seat democrat mark kelly has beat me incumbent Martha Mcsorley i was appointed to the seat in 2018 following the death of long time republican senator john mccain kerrys victory gives democrats both of Arizona Senate seats. Well european leaders have been reluctant to say much about this election until they know what sort of administration they will be teeming with over the next 4 years a Biden Victory might perhaps be the preferred outcome in europe but most governments are saying only that they have faith in american democracy is defeated so that of course its difficult to predict what the final result will be no one should climb victory when theres no data to support that Everyone Needs to be patient or even very patient because this wont be clear in a matter of hours counting who could teach you all die for the. German government has confidence in the Us Democratic tradition and its institutions which are based on the rule of law. What we can say counting continues. And so is the french government spokesman i can repeat what i said yesterday france will of course work with whoever is elected us president. Im sure will be tense and. A lot of biting fingernails depending on which side you are in the us but well wait for the definitive result and we have full faith in the american system to produce one it may take days rather now is pts. Well as governments around the world wait for the results of this election here in germany people and policymakers have been giving their views on events unfolding across the atlantic. All these u. S. Citizens sent in their ballots by mail ballots that donald trump alleges were fraudulent in many cases to democrats abroad gathered in front of the u. S. Embassy in berlin to protest against the latest from the u. S. President today we are here because we believe that the votes must be counted the votes to come in and many were postmarked and it is not illegal to count them after lunch and i find it absolutely abhorrent what hes saying this kind of language is large to be tolerated i think credibly disappointing that from the president of the United States for the sitting president democratically elected sitting president who himself voted by mail to say that voting by mail is a fraud. I mean well if at the pattern of behavior that donald trump lives in his own reality it is true that donald trump has certainly voted by man in the past as long as the official results of the election remain unknown to German Government will not formally comment on the outcome but individual politicians have reacted to transfer of claims and premature announcement of victory. Mines and we should all insist that democratic elections are allowed to be completed that means only over when all votes have been counted every citizen must have the chance to influence the result with 10 own vote so getting tight declaring yourself the winner at this stage is something i consider your responsibility extremely problematic but we are concerned about the situation in the usa we hope that there are no riots and. No problems with. Regard to the security. But we are also. Very keen on fostering the ties between our 2 governments here in the capital beilin opinions are divided on the outcome of the election. The group wouldnt think donald trump is the right president for the United States but. Its not finished until all the ballots are counted. Term declaring himself the winner in such a close race is a bit strange to put it mildly. Its not clear when the results will be finalized but in the meantime all eyes here in germany are in washington. State a closer look at the german perspective with the Political Correspondent to Thomas Sparrow welcome thomas no comments from World Leaders there were lots of comments from within the german political establishment we had the chair of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs committee saying that germany is not prepared for 4 more years of working with trump which seems rather outspoken thats correct so we didnt hear from a call in fact Spokes Person mr was quick to say that im michael would not comment on the result until we officially knew who would be in the white house in the next 4 years but you are correct to point out that other politicians have been mentioning that their views when it comes to what is happening in the United States now i would say that one of the main comments actually came from germanys defense minister. Who described a situation as explosive we even said that there could be a constitutional problem crisis in the United States and that has overstayed god not some criticism not only here in germany but also in other parts as to why shes actually commenting on these kinds of things when there is no result clear in the United States. Lets get a view on that from a new report whos a Foreign Policy spokesman for Germanys Green Party. If you there. I hear i can hear oh right there you i can hear you but i can see you are welcome to the w is it appropriate to do you think for german politicians to take sides when it comes to discussing already elections not about taking sides but we are highly concerned of that whats going on in the United States we are driving massively into a constitutional crisis of the United States this is the most important partner we have outside of europe and of course we are highly concerned and this is not about me only it is not about of defense minister or need to says about the entire Political Class and the population of this country i think youre highly concerned of a time of weeks or months of instability in the United States which to be honest a few years ago was definitely not imaginable ok so thats thats one view of looking at it when that the chair of germanys of the bulletins Foreign AffairsCommittee Says germany is not prepared for 4 more years of working with trump that sounds very much like taking sides. This is absolutely none of our business who was the end of today being elected by the American People this is their choice but for the last 4 years we had some kind of bizarre and strange experiences and we saw a president who was not ready to build a reliable bridge in relations to germany we had a president nice states who who was trash talking about germany when it came to 2 campaigns and he did it in the last campaign and its during this campaign of course its bad for our image and of course we have to talk about it no this is not about taking sides this is about defending ourselves and if we had could have a president named trump for the next 4 years who behaves not a way toward us this would be ok well because we could live with that but of course the experience of the last 4 years was not that hopeful would you see a biden presidency necessarily being better for germany i would love to see another kind of policies toward germany i would love to see a president you know in a white house which is talking to us this is not our choice this is a decision the americans have to take when it comes for example to their armed forces in germany should they stay here or should a shouldnt should it go back this is not our business this is their decision. But some are dirt poor Foreign Policy spokesman for Germanys Green Party speaking to me a little countries across asia are also watching this election closely the next u. S. President will influence the region stability in the context of rising china trade and climate change. Welcome back to the u. S. A valley its the everything from thailand to a struggling to china and japan the race for the white house is dominating News Coverage and asia so what i call crew will be the next leader in this superpower america this fall its continued to be cognisant. Governments and people in the region are watching the u. S. Election closely and like in the u. S. Theyre divided on whether donald trump all joe biden would be the better winner. I think definitely the election of president crumb is better for taiwan. I support joe biden because like him im a centrist in politics. It seems. In new delhi india a hindu right wing group hope to inspire divine intervention to secure a trumpet tree with prayers and a fire ritual. Your certain that u. S. President dont commonly win with a bigger mandiant them before there are conspiracy theories doing the rounds in the us the elections may get rigged however we are performing this fire ritual all these obstacles to the victory of donald trump will go away when we have. This in Southern India prayers were held to support the democratic ticket and specifically the Vice President ial candidate camelot harriss grandfather lived in this village i mean really need to be shes our daughter and i share ancestral history even if we are praying here and are offering food to the public and the hope that she wins. In india the support for either president ial candidate can be as fervent as in the u. S. So to you and other Asian Countries. The incumbent u. S. Administration has changed the way that washington deals with Asian Countries and the question of who occupied the white house for the next 4 years will be a real consequence to governments and people on the continent.
