Buffett is finding a new jewel for the Berkshire Crown after dipping into his 137 cash pile. Breaking today, uber eats is gobbling up postmates. It is official. Weve got more on the big m a deal to kick off your monday straight ahead. And Billionaire Elon Musk taunting tesla shorts, the stock shorts, with actual red satin short shorts as the ev giant stock hits another record high. We will talk about it. We will also talk to the ceo of the company thats building all the electric vehicle charging stations about his shocking Sales Numbers during the coronavirus crisis. The blink charging company ceo is here. And the ceo of impossible foods making a bold claim. He says the Meat Industry will be completely gone in 15 years. He will tell us how he will make the impossible happen. Less than an hour to the closing bell. Im Cheryl Casone in for liz claman. Lets start the claman countdown. Cheryl retailers such as target, walmart and Dicks Sporting Goods have dropped Washington Redskins merchandise from their online stores. This just breaking this afternoon. We mentioned this earlier. The team is reviewing its name which is widely considered to be derogatory to native americans. Theres target and walmart. Both slightly down. Dicks Sporting Goods actually up more than. 25 . But this is following reports merchandise was dropped from nikes site last week as social justice efforts are gaining traction across the country. We will update you on any developments on that breaking news. Again, major retailers starting to pull away from redskins memoribilia and jerseys in particular. Regeneron is on a tear after the biotech behemoth began late stage trials for its covid19 antibody cocktail. The phase 3 trial going to assess the therapys ability to prevent infection in those with exposure to the virus, say close exposure like a roommate, for example. Then separately, betson dixon, stock up more than 2 right now. The fda will allow emergency use of its rapid covid19 antigen test. Stock to watch today as well as harley davidson. That stock is actually roaring ahead after citigroup starts coverage of the motorcycle makeover with a buy rating, saying the chief valuation and new ceo make the stock pretty attractive. Harley up at 7. 25 right now. Finally, Piper Sandler downgraded Edge Cloud Platform fastly. Valuation concerns there as the stock is down more than 1. 25 . Take a look at uber stock. They finally announced a multi billion dollar deal to buy postmates to boost the ride hailing companys stake in food Delivery Market amid a slowdown in its core business. Uber finally made it happen, susan. Susan its official. 2. 65 billion all stock deal. Postmates, the fourth smallest really out of the big four food deliverers. They were going to raise money either through an ipo or selling itself which it did to uber. This was expected. They would say that it would take uber to build this type of market share seven years on its own but if they team up with someone like postmates it actually gives them a faster edge in getting more market share since there are way too many players and no one is really making money. With this tieup with postmates, uber eats now has around 31 market share, far below door dash which is number one with 45 market share. Door dash i should remind you was expected to go ipo and list this year, however, thats still you kn unknown. Grub hub selling itself to a European Company for just around 7 billion. We know its a tough industry but one thats actually growing. As you mentioned, the core business raid haili ingride hai down 80 in april and march, down 70 still in the month of may but going the opposite direction is uber eats, as sales actually increasing 50 in the first three months of this year. Uber eats sees this as an opportunity to get bigger, especially in a market, an industry where its pretty much winner take all. According to Morgan Stanley theres a lot more growth to go. Currently looking at sales of maybe 45 billion this year. It could nearly double in five years time to just around 86 billion and thats pretty much what uber is betting on right now. So you pay up now to get bigger in a space that will also grow where really, kind of like ride hailing, its always a number one or number two player that survives and everybody else has to do Something Else or combine with someone. I think uber is just playing it smart in the food delivery wars. Cheryl you know what, no offense to Morgan Stanley, i bet those numbers are actually low. I bet by 2025 it will be a bigger industry than that. Susan yeah, thats right. Consumer trends have accelerated because of covid and people ordering their food now. Cheryl yeah, yeah, and getting used to it. That and a lot of netflix. Susan, thank you very much. The markets are rallying on good news. Take a look at this. The u. S. Economy seeing a surge in growth last month as restaurants, dentists offices, other service Type Companies continue to start that reopening process. That pushed the ism nonmanufacturing index to 57. 1 in june from 45. 4 in may. This is the biggest increase in the surveys history and that has topped the forecast which was 51 but heres the question. Is the momentum going to continue. Okay. Bring in goldman sachs, the firm, just downgraded its u. S. Growth outlook for 2020, citing surging covid19 cases across the country and goldman is now expecting a 4. 6 contraction in 2020, especially well, they say things will get better in september. I want to add that. U. S. Growth which is a worse number but goldman still expects a 5. 8 rebound for 2021. Goldman kind of coming up with some interesting numbers. How should investors digest these two pieces of big news, especially when its goldman talking, and what can people do to properly prepare their portfolios . Lets start the floor slow. Thomas hayes, i want to start with you. This is goldman sachs. We listen to their forecasts, to their economists. Do you buy that they basically said in this, they are like look, the Third Quarter is not going to be what you think, its going to be september which is the end of the Third Quarter, when the economy is going to show meaningful recovery. Markets arent really reacting negatively to that forecast today. Yeah. Well, the markets are looking through this to 2021. I think you pointed to some very good data that beat expectations today. The citibank economic surprise index hit an alltime record last week at 185. That measures the percentage of Economic Data points that are beating expectations. It hit a record low two months ago, a record high last week. So analysts are now anticipating that this could potentially flow through into q2 earnings which are starting next week, and that would exceed expectations because expectations for q2 are abysmal, as you know. So while goldman took it down, they left 2021 at 5. 8 which is in line with fed expectations of plus 5. 0. If you look at all the things in place to support that, number one, cases actually are finally coming off the boil. It was a little worrisome around the beginning of july, 71, 72, but new cases have come down from 56,000 to 41,000 in all the hot spot states in the last three days, arizona, california, texas, florida, georgia. They are all starting to come off the boil. You have the map rule go into effect. Its kind of like the northeast. We didnt take it seriously in the beginning, the cases spiked. Now we are all following the rules and our cases are plummeting. Thats reflected in the deaths. Yesterday was cheryl well, the death rates are lower but one of the things we have seen which has been different than what new york went through is that these are younger individuals that are getting sick, especially in florida and arizona. And were now finally realizing we need to protect our older generation. Phil flynn, i want to bring you in. Another story in the markets today, this move in the chinese stocks which i found interesting considering we are still a little shaky on our trade agreement between the United States and china. But at this point, despite the rhetoric, we are seeing a move into the Chinese Markets by u. S. Investors. What do you make of that . You know, i think they dont want to fight the chinese bank and there was a report yesterday that chinas telling everybody hey, we are going to do more stimulus, we are going to be buying our own stocks so why not frontrun them, right . Thats why people are moving into that market. Really, it set a positive tone for our markets as well. Its a reminder that global banks around the globe are going to do whatever it takes to keep the economy going. Then that circles back to the United States, that fantastic number this morning of nonmanufacturing. Listen, the surprise index, we are surprising to the upside and that seems to overshadow some of the negativity about this. I think it also shows the resilience of the u. S. Economy going into this crisis and makes you wonder where we would have been if we didnt have to go through this coronavirus. I think its a very positive sign that things are looking good. Cheryl it looks like a good, Beautiful Day behind you in chicago there, phil flynn. Phil flynn, thomas hayes, summer is upon us. Gentlemen, thank you very much. Lets take a look at the big board right now. Again, we are just picking up on the momentum, carrying it over from last week. Despite, look, there has been resurgence in cases of coronavirus and investors are worried but dow up 357 right now. Theres a few things going on. We will talk about it more during the show but i want to highlight tesla. Theyve got a chinese rival nio charging to a new twoyear high. This has been on fire, up almost 20 right now. Its up over 180 over the last 52 weeks. It is the leader of several u. S. Listed Chinese Companies that are surging as the worlds second largest economy recovers from the coronavirus pandemic. Phil flynn just talking about that. But as nio and tesla turn out electric vehicles, one company is racing to develop a network of charging stations to develop all the new evs. The blink charging ceo is here to tell us how his company is charging ahead in the middle of the outbreak. The claman countdown is coming right back. I am robert strickler. Ive been involved in communications in the media for 45 years. Ive been taking prevagen on a regular basis for at least eight years. Cheryl elon musk breaking the internet this weekend, selling out of his short shorts, there they are, mocking the shorts as the stock continues to hit record highs. Take a look at the stock. Yep, it is up again, about 10. 5 , 1,335 a share. The j p said it believes tesla will reach 100 billion in revenue by 2025 as more Car Companies pump out all electric vehicles, whether its ford or gm. Our next guest looks to help keep all those cars on the highway. We welcome in the founder and ceo of blinkyou for beingg me. Cheryl how has business been during the pandemic . Because you are an essential business. Correct. We have been growing through the pandemic. Obviously we would have grown more, but thank god we were still able to keep our business going. Cheryl you have been partnering with some very big names. We have got a few of those i want to show our viewers just to show who is kind of getting in on the charging station phenomenon, if you will. Johnson johnson, whole foods, mcdonalds, that was interesting, burger king, chickfila. Talk to me about the importance of having a network of charging stations versus just selling somebody a oneoff of a charger and then, you know, walking away from the deal. You want to be able to charge a call wherever you go. No matter where you are, whether you are at the restaurant, whether you are at a Single Family home, multifamily residential facilities, mixed use locations. When you live in an urban area, you are going to have only public charging to rely on so its about having a network of chargers that you can use. Cheryl umhum. Last time you were here, you were talking to liz about trying to work with colleges and universities. Where is that at now, because we still dont really know if theres going to be college in the fall. We have a lot of universities in our portfolio of properties. We are really pretty much everywhere. As you mentioned, those are just a small sampling of our locations. We focus on the urban area, the garage market is our main target, and that covers really a lot of different universities by partnering with garage management companies. Cheryl and do you think, i mean, do you think the traditional gas station, i think that was always the question mark when we first started talking years ago about having charging stations. Who doesnt want, you know, if you are going to take a road trip you need to be able to charge your vehicle. Do you foresee there being as many charging stations as gas stations and how long away do you think that is . We actually believe the mode of fueling your car in the future will be a lot different than it is today. If you have a Single Family home, you are most likely going to charge in your home. Its really a question of where you are when you live in mul multifamily residential facilities, condo buildings, apartment buildings and when you travel outside the route of your home. Thats really the market that we focus on. We believe there are actually going to be a lot more charging stations than gas stations, but you will have charging stations where you normally park already. Its more about being there already and then having the access to charging facilities at those locations. Cheryl yeah. Go ahead. Sorry. If you have a charging station in your apartment building, most likely thats where you will charge your car and as the batteries and ranges increase in these evs, you will only need to fuel your car once every week or so. Cheryl wall street obviously sees something as you were speaking, we were showing the intraday of your stock. But the stock is actually up over the last year, 84 and change. This is kind of the hot sector right now, if our viewers arent aware. Maybe a silly question, i dont have a car, but how much does it take to charge a car . Whats the average . Also, what does it cost . It really depends. There are several different types of chargers. Based upon that charger and based upon the amount of charge that your car accepts, thats how fast your car can charge. Its not a very simple answer. If you run a supercharger you can fuel your car in about 20 minutes almost 80 of the car. Cheryl well, i know you are working on ports abdominable an. Is that soon . Thats correct. We have a portable charger available, its really more for the service industry. We also have a lot of other technologies we are working on to really deal with the covid issues we are seeing right now. Im not sure if yes. Cheryl i was going to say, go ahead and finish your thought but i wanted to thank you for being here. Go ahead, finish. Thank you. There are 11,000 more germs on a gas pump than on a toilet. What we are trying to do is make sure that you will have a product and solution where theres going to be a touchless charging station you will be able to use. Thats something we are working on now. Cheryl oh, wow. I think im glad you finished that thought. I did not know that. Thats kind of scary, actually. Michael farkas, thank you very much. Again, one of the hottest sectors we follow on the network. Its Something Else. Thank you very much for being here. Thank you for having me. Cheryl all right. Lets take a look at the dow right now. Up 341 and change. We are looking at another record for the nasdaq at the close, third in a row. You know, the nasdaq is techheavy and thats a piece of the story we were just talking about with michael but the journal is reporting today on the dow side of this that boeings series of test flights on the beleaguered 737 max jet could resume as early as this week. The operational readiness review will see several test flights over the next few weeks. Federal pilots, yes, faa pilots, and Airline Crews from around the world are on hand. They will vet the aircrafts updated Flight Control system, talk to the pilots. Stock up 4 right now. Meanwhile, there were crowded planes taking lockdownweary passengers to all corners of the country over the weekend. We will go live to new york citys Laguardia Airport for outrage over the lack of social distancing on board the planes and the cheers for an industry thats really been hammered by this outbreak. Thats straight ahead on the claman countdown. Cheryl travel giant expedia getting a boost in revenue from Vacation Rental bookings and also announcing their cancellation rates have begun to actually stabilize through june. But they are still higher than precovid levels. That news had given the stock a boost but shares, as you can see, are still languagie ing ha about. 2 to the upside. 86. 78, gain of 1. 87 a share. Holiday travelers are packing the planes this weekend or they were. Lets head to kristpartsinevelo airport in new york. Must be strange to actually be at an airport. Reporter it is strange. But im not flying, im just telling you how it is at the airport. It is relatively empty but this weekend was a big test for a lot of airlines to see consumer demand, also to see how comfortable people are flying. What we know is that there was a travel bump, the latest numbers from the tsa show that on thursday, the beginning of the holiday weekend, we did see 764,000 people fly which is a big drop compared to last year, down 64 but nonetheless, it is still the strongest number we have seen in four months so we are starting to see people a little bit more comfortable flying. Some of the airlines, united, American Airlines as well as spirit, are all operating now at full capacity. If you wanted to switch a flight, you can. They are saying you can transfer over if you are not comfortable being on a full plane. That means that they are selling that middle seat, unfortunately. Yeah, the united ceo said you cannot social distance on a plane, even if you get rid of the middle seat, you are still going to be within six feet of the person next to you. What you are seeing across this airport, everybody has to wear masks including myself, then on airlines, too, that is the same situation. Many airlines saying you must wear a mask. I heard from one traveler who said they are saying one thing and doing Something Else on the plane. Listen in. I have been on multiple flights in the past two months, and even with all the precautions and whatnot, they didnt adhere to anything, even at the checkin when you go to board the plane, they tell you to wear masks, do this, social distancing. You get on the plane, theres none of that being adhered to. Reporter thats pretty much the issue with the people i spoke to. Its hard to enact or force people to keep the mask on once they are on the plane and the plane lhas taken off. This has created serious damage to the airline industry. Five airlines have already signed a deal with the federal government to receive a federal loan. That would be united in the mix, or sorry, American Airlines, hawaiian, frontier which is privately held, and this is all just to help offset the loss in revenue. We dont know the exact amount of that loan but we are told it will be in the billions of dollars. You can see right behind me, there hasnt been more than maybe a dozen people at max at a ticketing booth over here so its still very quiet but the tsa numbers did show theres a little bit of a travel bump over the weekend. Back to you. Cheryl thats a surprise and thats a great point. This is the middle of summer at a usually very very busy Laguardia Airport as well. Thank you very much. Like the mask. Glad youre wearing it. Good job. She couldnt hear me. Great job, thank you so much. Lets take a look at the dow. We are up 373. Youve got the s p up 41. 25 . Nasdaq up 203 points. We are looking at up 2 on the nasdaq. Looking at another record close for the nasdaq. We will watch that for the next 30 minutes. Coming up next, impossible foods, impossible dream. Cheryl the best of the worst. The famous nathans annual hot dog eating contest on july 4th saw Joey Chestnut walk away the winner for the 13th time, consuming 75 hot dogs in 10 minutes. It was another record but in a few years, is chestnut going to be eating faux meat hot dogs . His doctors might tell him to. Thats a possibility. But that could alsopen if impossible foods has its way. The alternative plantbased meat maker wants to eliminate Animal Agriculture by the year 2035. Want to bring in impossible foods ceo pat brown. Great to have you back on the show. Great to be here. Thank you. Cheryl so lets see about, you know, with the 4th of july, its about burgers and hot dogs and turkey hot dogs and turkey sausage. Do you think we are going to see, you know, more types of impossible foods coming from your company . Whats in the Development Stage right now . Oh, absolutely. We are always working on future products. There will be some new ones coming out later in the year, we launched sausage. Earlier this year we announced it and its already in more than 22,000 outlets and you know, this is just the beginning of the plantbased Meat Industry, and theres a huge future ahead of us. The same cant be said for the animal based Meat Industry. Cheryl well, you say you think that by 2035, that we are not going to be eating meat anymore, but i think more than 90 of Americans Still eat meat. Not that they dont eat plantbased food but they are still consuming meat. Yes, absolutely. I wouldnt say we are not going to be eating meat anymore. We are just not going to be making it from the corpses of animals. We are our approach here is to make the most delicious, nutritious, convenient affordable meat on the planet and thats how we are going to win this competition with the animal based food industry, not by asking people to give up meat. Thats a losing strategy. We just have to do a better job of delivering what meat Consumers Want from their meat. Thats how we win. Cheryl youve got partnerships with burger king. We know the new starbucks sandwiches are out on their menus now. I want to ask you, though, have you seen a negative retail effect, because of the coronavirus pandemic . People just were cooking at home and i know that restaurants and retail is a big source of revenue for you. Hows it going . Well, we actually have had very rapid growth during the past several months of our retail business. We started the year at 150 Grocery Stores and now we are in more than 5,000 across the country, and the sales are going very well. Because so much of that growth has happened during the covid epidemic we dont have a precovid baseline to compare to. But no, its going extremely well. We have continued to launch in restaurants, we launched in starbucks just a couple weeks ago, 15,000 starbucks outlets, everything i have heard is that thats going extremely well. I think, you know, covid is disrupting everything, but the demand from consumers for plantbased foods is just going up and up and up and i would say thats not being slowed down significantly by covid. Cheryl your competitor, beyond meat, is now looking at china and that stock theres been some analyst debate about that stock but they have done fairly well. Is the International Story something you might want to do . Do you think theres an opportunity there overseas . Well, we have already had very successful launches in hong kong and singapore. Cheryl but on mainland china, though. Mainland china. Yeah. Mainland china, no, we are absolutely going to launch in mainland china. Its just a matter of time. I just want to correct one thing. We dont see beyond meat as a competitor. They are on the same mission were on. We have zero interest in taking customers from beyond meat. The only customers we care about are the ones who are currently buying animalbased meats and you know, the market, theres a huge market for us here. We wish nothing but the best to beyond meat. Cheryl you dont hear that often from a ceo, one ceo to another. Ive got to say. Its refreshing to hear that, absolutely. I know you really believe in what youre doing. Pat brown, thank you for being here. We will see how much more we consume of plantbased items this year. Thank you, sir. More and more and more. Byebye. Cheryl i got to try that starbucks sandwich, by the way. This is coming in right now. Look at the dow, up 398. 26,225. We got a lot more coming up as we look at the strong numbers. The markets keep rolling up higher and higher. Liberty. Liberty. Cheryl breaking news. Kansas city chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is soon to be the proud owner of the largest contract in the history of the National Football league. Espn is reporting that mahomes has agreed to a tenyear extension with the chiefs that locks him up through the 2031 season. While the exact financials of the deal yet to be revealed it is expected to be in the ballpark of 40 million per season. Mahomes led the chiefs, of course, to their second super bowl victory ever. That was back in february of this year. And another quarterback is in the news today. Disney is teaming up with former nfl quarterback Colin Kaepernick to produce content about racial and social injustices. The partnership between disney and kaepernicks Production Company will produce both scripted and unscripted stories focused on race and social injustice including kaepernicks journey from quarterback to civil rights activist. The deal also going to showcase work from directors and producers of color and will be made available across disneys units that will include walt disney television, espn, hulu, pixar and espn the undefeated platform. Disney already had the huge premier weekend of the hamilton musical on disney plus streaming service. Everybody i think i know watched that thing. The film version of the hottest show on broadway boosted disney plus app downloads 74 in the United States. Seeing nearly half a million downloads over the weekend. Yep, theres disney up more than 1. 5 . Well, from James Madison to barack obama, the iconic american haberdasher that outfitted 41 of the 45 u. S. President s may be leaving office. Charlie gasparino has the details on a possible Brooks Brothers bankruptcy. Charlie . Charlie yeah. I know bankruptcy sounds bad and it is bad. Brooks brothers is bleeding money and the current economic downturn hasnt helped matters much. The company is moving closer to a bankruptcy filing, sources are telling the fox business network, but at the same time, theres also an interesting i guess you might say bidding war for the companys assets. There are at least two potential bidders that are talking about putting money in, if and when the company goes into bankruptcy. Its best to buy it in bankruptcy because you can lowball current shareholders get wiped out, but then you pay off, and then the company pays off the remaining creditors with the money so this is why Companies Like buying in bankruptcy. Its a lower price. The two that are in there now is Simon Property and Authentic Brands but heres what fox business has learned and this is exclusive details, that the latest potential bidder includes a gentleman by the name of David Jackson. You might know him as the former chairman of barneys, another high end mens iconic clothing brand. We understand his private equity firm, solitaire partners, is weighing a bid and i would say weighing moving forward with the bid likely, potentially if, if this company falls into bankruptcy this week as a lot of people around the situation say Brooks Brothers this week could be filing and thats when i think you will see solitaire make its move with a bid for the company. Now, whats really interesting about solitaire is again, David Jackson, well known of pe circles, he was he was the chairman of barneys through another private equity firm that he was heading, so the second foray into high end menswear. It would be saving the company as its been pitched to fox business from people close to the matter, they are just not going to license the brand out and slap it on clothes made somewhere else. They want to keep the company together, if possible. The enterprise value of their bid, i cant tell you how much equity they are going to put in but they are valuing this thing total, thats with debt and equity, at something close to 350 million. As you know, right now is not a bad time to borrow. Interest rates at zero or less or however you want to put it. You can go into the market and borrow a lot of money to buy one of these companies. And the people around solitaire believe that they will have a decent bid and could own the company. Look for other potential investors to join in solitaire. We have not confirmed who those other potential investors are but i hear they are reaching out to significant private equity interests to put money in, to put capital or equity capital, cheryl. But thats where we are right now. Two major developments. Brooks brothers, at least according to these sources, are telling us they are close to filing bankruptcy, and then theres a bidding thats going to go on. Solitaire partners from David Jackson is looking to put in a fairly strong bid and all this could come down this week. Back to you. Cheryl i have to run, but can i compliment you really quick . Charlie yeah, sure. Cheryl i watched the Jeffrey Epstein documentary over the weekend. I want to say kudos to you for showing your office to america and the world. Charlie just my office. Cheryl obviously what you said was fabulous and very smart and very interesting. But you know charlie i always worry about reporters, i mean, you anchors should have clean offices.
