They can make a package that would be acceptable, that is to the treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin and nancy pelosi. There is just one problem, whatever they come up would presumably not be acceptable to the Republican Senate or Mitch Mcconnell has said, whatever theyre contemplate something way too expensive no matter what the president says. Chad pergram with the very latest hey, chad. Reporter hey there. This is a monumental challenge. Keep in mind that House Speaker nancy pelosi and secretary of treasury Steve Mnuchin have been talking more than 90 days trying to get the next round of Coronavirus Relief done. The problem they cannot come up with the right cocktail to get something across the finish line, the right vote cocktail that has the proper number of votes in both the house and the United States senate. This is why Senate Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell has cobbled together a slim 500 bill dollar bill. It will probably be filibustered by democrats tomorrow. Keep in mind the president often serves as the chief whip in congress. If he wants to spend more than nancy pelosi that is something he indicated so far he has to get in the ear of Senate Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell. Listen. President trump we will be on board if something comes. Let me just explain, it is very simple. I want to do it even bigger than the democrats. Not every republican agrees with me but they will. Reporter the problem is that the president is losing juice with Many Senate Republicans who face difficult reelection bids this fall. Just a week ago republicans torch ad plan costing 1. 8 trillion crafted by the secretary of treasury Steve Mnuchin. When asked yesterday if Senate Republicans could support more than one trillion dollars the senate gop whip john thune said, quote, it would be hard. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and mnuchin are set to talk again today. Pelosis office said they narrowed differences yesterday but today is the deadline to get a deal before the election. At a time where we exchanged all our differences of opinion so that we can, numbers and paper, there is be lets make a judgment. We may not like this, we may not like but lets see on balance if we can go forward. Reporter theyre scheduled to talk at 3 00 eastern time today. They talked for 53 minutes yesterday. What that means is, we probably dont know if they have a deal until after the market is closed. Neil . Neil but again, even if they have a deal there is the u. S. Senate, right . Reporter absolutely and you know i talked to some republican this morning keep saying look, chad, were for a targeted bill something more narrow, we could go higher on the spending but something that is targeted. But what is targeted to one republican senator is not necessarily targeted to the other senator. That is where you will lose democrats. You have to have democrats on board to get 60 votes. That is what you need to overcome a filibuster. As we say, neil, guess what . Its about the math. Neil yeah, there are some gaping gaps in that math. Wall street likes the deal coming together no matter the caveats that chad reigns. Keith fitzgerald is with us. Keith, ive been through this drill before. Markets get their hopes thinking a deal is to be had. I ask other braniacs like yourself, what if it doesnt come to pass, what if it is all hype, no fact . I appreciate the compliment. Im not a brainiac. I put my shoes on like everybody else does. The market clearly wants a stimulus. The right companies will benefit despite a deal no matter what it looks like. I think it falls apart. If these guys do not reach a deal. Number one will enrage americans, myself included but number two, risks complete market chaos. Neil the other argument who is hurts more, republicans or democrats . You can make argument that he is trailing whether you buy the polls or not, the president needs this certainly more than nancy pelosi. Do you buy that . You know i dont buy that i am so annoyed with the fact that washington at all, on both sides of the party needs this deal. Why is this even a political issue . This is an american issue, not blue, not red. Do i buy the president gets hurt more . No i definitely think it interferes with the reelection but does it impact his reelection . Clearly. Neil keith, a market watcher, if you dont like brainiac, i will say good market watcher, housing is looking good, retail sales have been surprisingly strong. 56 of americans feel theyre doing better than they were four years ago. The president is not benefiting. Why is that . Well you know, this is one of the great conundrums of our time. The markets dont always have a direct connection to the money. We like to think it does. That is not always true. What is happening, youre getting hope, youre getting aspiration. Youre getting all emotional inputs that drive the market. May not drive it immediately. For now it is about numbers, aspirations where do we go from here if that makes sense. Neil it does. Keith, thank you very much. Keith fitzgerald following all of that with the dow up over 203 points. People are waiting for other developments this week including the Judiciary Committee vote what will happen with judge amy barrett. She will probably get approved along party lines, maybe the next day by entire United States senate. By the end. Week she could sit as next associate justice from the Supreme Court of the United States. Theyre waiting on that. There is a little thing called the final president ial debate. Add all of that. It is slated for thursday now. They have even got some provisos including cutting mics if one or the candidate goes over time or just makes things nuts. Peter doocy following all of that in wilmington, delaware with the former Vice President hunkering down getting ready for the big debate. Peter . Reporter he is, neil. President trump is preparing for a rally in pennsylvania tonight. But the Biden Campaign told us 2 1 2 hours ago he is in for the day. No inperson events. Last time we saw the democratic nominee was here in town as he was walking out of a theater where he tape ad 60 minutes interview that wont air until sunday, he ignored a shouted question what scandal he has coming after President Trump tease adaging wall street journal story. Neither biden or anybody from the campaign has provided any sort of explanation still, after a week of emails on a laptop apparently abandoned by hunter biden at a repair here in town that appear to raise the possibility of a conflict of interest with joe biden, then vp and his sons foreign Business Partners t does appear there is a lot more to this story but so far nothing. The campaign instead looking ahead to deploying their number one surrogate who will appear on behalf of biden and kamala harris, barack obama. Just announcing 44 will headline a drivein rally in philadelphia tomorrow. The weeks biggest event will be the debate in nashville with new rules. The candidate who is not delivering their intro remarks for each topic will have the microphone turned off. The commission tells fox in a statement. The commission is determined that it is appropriate to adopt measures intended to promote ad adherence to agreed upon rules an inappropriate to make challenges to these rules. I have spoken to highranking officials over the last 12 hours or so from the Trump Campaign who say they found out about this on twitter. No heads up from the commission. Neil . Neil it could have been worse, peter, they could have used cat cattle prods. That is option they ultimately dispensed with. Just thinking. Reporter rather have mics turned off. Neil im with you on that one. Peter doocy on that. With the president wanting to pound the New York Post biden email story even if the general media has not done that, get to kelly hyman, democratic strategist and lauren a republican strategist. Begin with you, end with you then, lauren. The president has a very busy campaign aggressive schedule. Stops in pennsylvania. The latest battleground blitzkrieg while the former Vice President ising hanging low. A lot of democrats say that it is a strategy working for him. What do you say . Yeah, it is very apparent that the democrats believe that the less of joe biden the American People see the better this is because they want the election to be a referendum on trump. I do think were actually seeing that play out in the polls. The, polls are holding very steady. Theyre very tight in the midwest and in particular in some of those battleground states like you mentioned, pennsylvania, wisconsin, ohio, within the margin of error and it is really coming down to i think at this point a turnout game for both campaigns. I dont think there is going to be a lot of news or big shakeups in the next couple weeks that will change peoples minds, especially when you look how many people already voted, 27 million, even more have already registered to vote. Were expecting a lot of republicans to come out to vote on november 3rd but a lot, not a lot of undecideds. This will really come down to field operations, making sure that people actually vote with requested ballot and how many people turn up at the polls on november 3rd. Neil you know, kelly, the better the polls look for joe biden the more money he is has been able to raise. One of those rare instances where the challenger is raising more than the incouple pent president. Im wondering though this memo that was released over the weekend warning democrats that you know, lets not get ahead of our skis here, this isnt over yet. Donald trump is narrowing the gap and all, how many are looking at it that way, are worried that the former Vice President is playing it too cautiously . Well i think it is always a concern in any election until the votes are all in and the American People decide. You never know. Every poll has a margin of error. That is why it is really important for people to get out and voice their opinion and vote. So i think that is why there is always concerns that there might be some issue with the polls. Having said that biden represents what American People need right now and they need a change. People are struggling personally, professionally neil well, lot of, we hope to get the connection back with her. Lauren, let me ask you a little bit about this momentum, this incredible enthusiasm as people you know, already file ballots as you said, close to 30 million such ballots being filed. Running 10 times the rate it was four years ago at this time, 2 3 of those ballots supposedly are democratic ballots. Doesnt mean they automatically are voting for a democratic candidate but it does telegraph that so im wondering whether theres worry or panic setting in or that these votes are just displaced votes that would have been that way on election day . Theyre just materializing earlier . I think that, one, i think that there is a donald trump effect with politics where we say way more people involved than we have before we saw it. In the midterms, saw it in 2016. People who normally dont vote, vote in elections where there is donald trump. Sometimes thats for him. Sometimes thats against him but he is motivating pop culture phenomenon, right . He really has invigorated people into politics but two, i think that there is some unknowns in this election. I think it is impossible to predict what effect the coronavirus, early mailin voting all of these things are happening will have on the end results. I think that anyone who says otherwise is just lying to you. I think that we have to wait to see how this turns out. I think there are some instances where were telegraphing the early mailin voting was democrat. Like i said before we see that match with high rates of republican registration. If they turn up on november 3rd, that could have a effect the amount of early voting weve seen on the democratic side. So i really think this will be one of those elections where there is a lot of involvement, there is a lot of enthusiasm and were not going to know the results until you know, honestly probably a few days after. Neil you know, kelly, i think were good with you again. I apologize for the mike phone problem. I had no idea lauren would cut it like she did there thats a joke. Let me ask you a little bit about the up coming debate where theyre free to cut the mic of either candidate should he go over, interrupt the other. I dont know what would trigger such an action but they are in the same room so, theyre audibly present. So i can imagine them still talking even with the mic cut off. Are you worried about that . No, i mean i really dont think it is going to be a debate. Trump doesnt follow the rules. We can look at the first debate where he constantly interrupted. I think he will do that, do whatever means. He is already complaining the debate is not fair. He attacked the moderator who is woman which is very disappointing and any woman that supports trump is voting against his interests because the way he treats women and attacks women is not someone we need as our leader of our great country . Neil all right. So i didnt realize youre supporting joe biden. Again, a bad joke on my part. So lets slip around, guys, where we will be at the end of this week. We could be up to 45 million mail in ballots done already. We could be by the time election day rolls around 100 million such ballots t would be the first time there was more voting beforehand on election day itself. It will change the dynamics. Do you think right now that this stands a good likelihood, lauren of dragging on for days, some even say weeks or is it your sense that even though that is a growing consensus, that someone could put this to bed earlier than thought . I dont think so. I think we are going to see this drag on for a couple of days. Youve seen some Supreme Court rulings that say that the mailin ballots will be allowed to be counted afterwards because theyre going to allow them to come in all the way until the polls close on election days. A lot of states havent even starting counting ballots. This is concerning for me because theyre still operating under coronavirus rules. That there is going to be less workers. There is going to be a lot of chaos. These systems are not set up for this necessarily. I think there is a lot of confusion. I think it will take a couple days to sort this out. I think the American People will have to have faith in the results and in the system. Ultimately our democracy are based on fair and fry elections. Well have to trust the results. Neil all right. Thank you, ladies. Well see how it sorts with the debate. Of course the big nomination battles later on in the United States senate, Judiciary Committee first for judge amy barrett. Speaking of that battle, right now on capitol hill nothing eclipses what is going on in the Republican Party over stimulus. The house might be, you know, cobbling together differences between democrats and republicans on stimulus but the senate is going in a completely different direction no matter what the president says. Chuck grassley on what he makes of that, after this. Insulin injections can make diabetes complicated. Omnipod delivers insulin through a discreet waterproof pod. To help simplify life. I would be willing to go more because i think that, number one i view it differently. We get the money back, the government. It gets the money back ultimately anyway. It is better than up employment. It is better than all the costs associated with the alternative. So i want to go, i would rather go bigger than that number but well see. Neil all right. So bigger than 2. 2 trillion. I wonder what Chuck Grassley thinks of that, iowa senator, Senate Finance committee chairman, many, many others joins us now. Senator, always good to have you. Thank you for joining me. Thank you. Neil so lets talk a little bit what the president just talked about. Owe would be willing to go higher than 2. There trillion dollars. That might get people motivated in the house. Senator Mitch Mcconnell made that clear it is going nowhere in the senate. Is it . Senator mcconnell is tired of negotiation and ups downs and between pelosi and the white house. We decided we move ahead what we agree on. There is several things, whatever the white house and pelosi is talking about there are a lot of things that are already agreed to, that have bipartisan agreement. So that is what were doing in the United States senate today and tomorrow. Trying to get something rolling one of twoways, either have democrats in the senate, if they dont like what were putting down, let us get to the bill. That will take, seven, at least seven democrats votes to the bill f we get on the bill, they can change it anyway they want to. If they dont want to do it that way, we can pass what we have and get, get it to the house of representatives and then they can go to conference and we can work out the differences but we cant wait for the white house and pelosi to agree to something. We got to move because we got to get all this done by next wednesday, if were going to get it done before the election. Otherwise it carries over to the lameduck session. Neil the president acknowledged, senator, that he knows republican senators disagree on the cost of this but you will all come along, you will do what he says. Will you . Well, i would only draw that conclusion after i know whats in it and i said so much in it that we agree on, why not move ahead with that . What might cause some of us some heart ache is how much money will go to state and local governments as aid. How much noncovid19 stuff is in it, like does pelosi want to change our state election laws between now and the election and things like that . Those are things that are going to be as deciding as the amount of money that is in it. Neil you know, senator, a lot of your republican colleagues, are willing to as you intimated there, challenge the president , take him on this, because it is important to you, i get that, you of course are not up for election this year, your colleague joni ernst is but a lot of them risk the president is dragging them down. That could change. Polls are changing and some are tightening up. Is there concern between his ripping dr. Fauci and some of these other you know, tirades he goes on that he is hurting their cause . That he is hurting republicans chances of holding on to the senate . That would only be if he was going to lose and i think the way things are going this election like it did four years ago he is going to win and he is going to take republicans with him. Does that mean every republican is going to win . No. We vary from state to state but were still in control of the United StatesSenate Two Weeks from today. Neil you know, one of the things he said, it would be a lot easier if senators just went along with him, supporting him on everything he is urging and that they will do well, they will do well in the polls and in the elections for doing that. What do you say . Well, everybody president would say that and all i can say is, we have divided government under, i mean we have checks and balances of government under a constitution and we have to act as senators. We cant act as just ambassadors for whatever the president wants done. Neil all right. Let me switch gears. As you know the Justice Department is filing this antitrust suit against google. This comes at the same time a lot of your colleagues, senator, want to hear from the ceos of twitter and facebook over, you know, all of them hiding that New York Post story on these biden emails. A lot of discrepancies all of that, but is this, is this building to be a bipartisan bashing of big tech do you think . It ought to be because they are monopolies and monopolies and theyre acting like monopolies. Facebook, twitter, ought to be ashamed of what theyre doing for censoring. That isnt the issue with google. That is antitrust but the First Amendment is in jeopardy here because so many people, particularly younger people, depend upon twitter and facebook to get their information and when the post puts out this story about hunter biden and twitter and facebook wont take it, just think of the number of people in the United States, millions and millions of people that are denying their source of news and shouldnt this be as newsworthy as it being printed in the New York Post . Neil so i know you had argued if this was a story on donald trump, made the same allegations that they wouldnt have had a problem with. They say if it is sketchy info it shouldnt be passed along or retweeted, or resent. What do you think of that . Its a bunch of malarkey. When the steele dossier was out, paid for by the democratic party, or Hillary Clinton, we dont know that until a few months ago, but we know it now they were super spreaders of that disinformation. Now some people are saying this could be same disinformation. Well it is proven that it is not by three sources. Number one the grassleyjohnson report that we put out. Number two, there is a person in prison that gave emails to journalists that prove some of the things that are in the, in the happen top of hunter it biden are true. And, first of all, they have been, they have been asked questions about this. They dont answer them. Vice President Biden should be obligated to answer these questions and the other thing is, they havent denied him. So seems to me that speaks to everything. Lets get back to what congressman schiff said, this is russian disinformation. The director of National Intelligence yesterday said that no intelligence shows that this is anything dealing with russia besides now we have, we have signatures of hunter biden when he laid this laptop down for repair. That he didnt pick up. And so whats the big deal . Facebook, and twitter need to get with it and stop censoring the press because so many millions of people, particularly younger people, that dont read the newspapers depend upon that for news. They ought to be able to get honest news. And they are not getting it. Theyre doing it just to protect biden because they want him to be the next president of the United States. They hate trump. Neil so why dont your colleagues go ahead and subpoena, they seem to plan twitter ceo and the facebook ceo . They have held oaf on that . What is the deal . Okay. Well, i think that will come up tomorrow, or thursday when we have our meeting. I dont know for sure but we want them to voluntarily come. And if they dont come to the judiciary and we subpoena them and get them, meantime they already have a hearing. Theyre going to be scheduled before the Senate Commerce committee. So theyre going to appear one way or the other but they want to appear after the election. They dont want these questions about how theyre interfering with the information that every american ought to have about biden and hunter biden and, influence peddling that went on there for either the benefit of foreign leaders or for the income of the biden family. Neil senator, real quickly, what do you think the president will do if his mic is cut on the debate on thursday . Theyre promising to do that if either guy goes over the other guy and interrupts what do you think the president would do . First of all i dont think he will worry about it much. He had his mic cut oaf debating Hillary Clinton and he still won. They might cut it off this time. All he has to do gets the next questioned answered, he has something to say about biden, got cut off, sate it the next time he got the forum. Neil would you tell him to shout really loud . Well, i sure he will do that anyway. Neil okay. Juster wanted to make sure there is a procedure on this. Senator grassley, always good seeing you. Thank you, sir, be well. Good. Neil that will be interesting, to see hue they sort that out, if anyone goes over and they start cutting their mike, what do we do a few feet apart. How would you handle that . After this. My husband and i have never eaten healthier. Shingles doesnt care. I logged 10,000 steps today. Shingles doesnt care. I get as much fresh air as possible. Good for you, but shingles doesnt care. Because 1 in 3 people will get shingles, you need protection. But no matter how healthy you feel, your immune system declines as you age, increasing your risk for getting shingles. So what can protect you . Shingrix protects. For the first time ever, you can protect yourself from shingles with a vaccine proven to be over 90 effective. Shingrix is a vaccine used to prevent shingles in adults 50 years and older. Shingrix does not protect everyone and is not for those with severe allergic reactions to its ingredients or to a previous dose. The most common side effects are pain, redness, and swelling at the injection site, muscle pain, tiredness, headache, shivering, fever, and upset stomach. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about protecting yourself with shingrix. Shingles doesnt care. Shingrix protects. Neil all right. Youve just heard senator Chuck Grassley say you know, well ask them for now before trying to subpoena them later jack dorsey, maybe, maybe, Mark Zuckerberg to volunteer and appear before the Judiciary Committee and talk about all this bias and all the related stuff. Keep in mind theyre both scheduled to speak before the Senate Commerce committee on separate issues here, so what would they do in that event . The guy who literally wrote the book on the subject, stephen levy, facebook, the inside story. Stephen lets talk a little bit about a guy you know well, Mark Zuckerberg, if he asked to appear before another committee and he either drags his feet or ignores the request and he is subpoenaed what does he do . Well, i think if he is subpoenaed shows up. He long ago given up trying to avoid congressional hearings. He has been through it a few times. He is going to do it again. He had a marathon session, if you remember the first time he came to congress in early 2018. Neil sure. He did three sessions really and, the house and the senate, all day affairs for two days. So he has proved his stamina and, if he is subpoenaed he will show up. He wont be happy about it because i think it will be a replay of some of the questioning weve seen before where people in the gop side will accuse him of bias. People on the democrat side will say there is no bias. It will go back and forth. Im not quite sure what it will accomplish. Neil one thing that both parties agree on for Different Reasons is that maybe it is time to sort of corral these guys in there. Theyre getting too big for their britches or theyre doing far more than we thought they should and maybe the Justice Department suit against google is the opening salvo. No matter who wins in november. No matter what the makeup of congress and white house will be on all of that, that all the big tech guys have targets on their back. What do you think . I agree with you. Today is a signal day what is known as the tech lash. After all this talk finally the government has done something for action of the they filed a huge suit against google. They said, they made a point to say i was on a call recently this, is the biggest deal since the microsoft suit. They dont often invoke the sherman act in antitrust suits. Theyre invoking the suit two decades ago where microsoft which loomed over the Technology Industry like the 800pound gorilla was finally tamed even though microsoft won the suit ultimately on appeal, and wasnt broken up, the effect own microsoft allowed Companies Like google to emerge. Neil you know, steven, just looking at the stock Market Reaction on Google Alphabet stock, its up, do you think, the worstcase scenario for investors is so they break the company up. Then i own more of something i kind of like. It might be the same way people played the at t and breakup of at t in the 1980s . Theyre not going to break google up. Theyre not even threatening to do that. What i found interesting to look at, google is not a separate company. This is part of a Holding Company called alphabet. This happened five years ago. When they switched the name of the company and google is now a division in this larger Company Called alphabet. The word alphabet appears just once in the complaint, a little parentheses, google belongs to alphabet. Theyre not trying to do a breakup. Theyre not talking about pulling youtube away from google. You think in terms of a breakup. They are going against some of the deals that google made to put their Search Engine as default in things like the apple Search Engine or the apple browser and the mozilla browser and some of these phones. Neil i think that is a very good point, steven. Steven levy, the facebook story. On all things technology. Well see how this fans out, steven. Neil we are just getting news that astrazenecas covid19 vaccine trial in the u. S. Will resume were told. Maybe as early as this week. Remember when they had to stop that because of a particular patient who i think had gotten meningitis. Whether it was directly related to the drug or not we still dont know but apparently it is going to resume. Astrazeneca was one of those front and Center Players on vaccine or treatment from the virus. At the same time were getting word that moderna is seeing vaccine results as soon as november. So that is running a little bit ahead of schedule. So who knows, we might be at least seeing promise, even if no more than emergency use, some of these possible treatments. Jonathan serrie following developments right now, because atlanta, theyre talking about getting Distribution Network in place for whoever and whatever comes out. Jonathan has the latest. Reporter they will have the Distribution Network in place ahead of a vaccine coming out, a Senior Administration officials tells fox news that there will be a Distribution Network in place for the u. S. In november by early november. The official says that millions of doses are already being manufactured, theyre being stockpiled so they can rapidly be deployed once they receive fda approval for a vaccine for a vaccines. The ceo of moderna told the wall street journal conference his companys experimental vaccine could be ready for federal approval in december if Clinical Trials deliver positive results this month. In human trials it takes time for enough participants to naturally become infected with coronavirus so that the scientists can see how those receiving the vaccine compare with those receiving a placebo. However in the uk, researchers plan to speed up this process by deliberately infecting healthy volunteers. This vaccine trial could mean that this period of trauma for the whole world will be over sooner i want to help, to be a part of that. Reporter now in this country you ordinarily await for federal approval, fda approval before you can start distributing a vaccine. In california there will be one additional step. Governor gavin newsom has announced the creation of a independent committee to review all federally approved vaccines before they can be administered to people in his state. We dont take anyones word for it. We will do our own independently reviewed process with our world class experts. Reporter hormel foods is giving away face masks that smell like bacon. They will donate meals to the Nonprofit Group feed america that is the latest in technology. Neil do they have one that smells like sausage and peppers. The bacon is promising. Good stuff my friend. Jonathan serrie. I would wear that mask 24 7 if i had to. We told but the red zones, hot zones in the new york city metropolitan area, Governor Cuomo wants to ease things back. Could not come a moment too soon for jump bigly. Runs buckleys restaurant. They are on the corner of those hot zones. Jim, what does that mean to you . I know youre tucked between what is considered a hot sown versus another that is not. Thank you, neal, for the opportunity to speak on behalf of a lot of Small Businesses not only in this neighborhood but across the city. As everyone well knows march 16th we were shut down for takeout and delivery only until Outdoor Dining was approved. We started that on june the 24th and did it all the way through to september 30th when we were fortunate enough to get Indoor Dining back at 25 capacity. Only one week later to have that taken away from us. We followed all the safety protocols that the mayor and governor have put in place. And yet, in my opinion, were being punished by falling into that red zone on a map and it is, its been, its been a struggle, a real struggle. It will be, it would be good to get out of this temporary shutdown again, thats for sure. Neil youre only doing dinner now, right . I mean even that is on a limited capacity, right . Thats correct. Right now were doing takeout and delivery. Were doing our dinner menu and our bar menu from 3 00 p. M. To 8 00 p. M. We were able to take advantage of the payroll protection plan. We also got disaster loan. Its good, yes, neil t was good but it is long gone and now were stuck waiting for them to approve another, another stimulus and, who suffers . Hardworking people like us. Neil yeah. I hope there is some, you know, calmer, more consistent heads prevail here, just between the mayor and governor have been at each others throats. If things resume it, would be 25 capacity. Can you handle that for a while . Its a step in the right direction. We can handle it. It is really a drop in the bucket at this point. It is what i call kicking the can down the road. We cant sustain this. At one point, during the month of august, into september, i believe the infection rate was below 1 for 30 straight days. Yet everywhere else in the state was allowed to open to 50 Indoor Dining and new york city and five boroughs were still closed it just doesnt make any sense. Neil hang in there, jim. I took a look at your menu. Its a delicious menu. Your steaks sound phenomenal. Jim buckley well see how it sorts out. Youre watching incomparable design makes it beautiful. State of the Art Technology makes it brilliant. The visionary lexus nx. Lease the 2021 nx 300 for 359 a month for 36 months. Experience amazing. At your lexus dealer. Neil it is 1 00 p. M. Eastern time, airlines are wondering and frantically hoping it materializes, nancy pelosi says a covid19 aid bill would need to be finished by the end of next week to get the aid out november 3, good luck on that, we will hear from the former u. S. Defense secretary on why they say this particular election has a lot of security risks, the whole world is watching and they are worrying, come up we have impossible foods cfo david lee of the alternative that is not passing and it is now officially a rage, in the meantime stimulus and how talks are going or not going the fact that they are talking must be in the house even though we have heard from Chuck Grassley in the senate, it is going nowhere there, lets get the latest from Edward Lawrence, following all of this. A lot of voices, after talking for 90 days, more than 90 days, House Speaker nancy pelosi says her deadline is today to have a deal done before the election and she will talk with treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin at 3 00 p. M. To reach a deal over the phone and donald trump blaming the House Speaker for dragging her feet saying she think she is waiting for a deal till after the election will help democrats, she might be wrong. She has made it very, very difficult, we are talking money going to the American People that got hurt, thi they should t of been hurt, this is caused by china and we should not punish them, we are punishing them by nancy pelosi, maybe she changes her tune. The president said he would take a bigger package than 2. 2 trillion offered by the House Speaker but the extra money would be for infrastructure and moving manufacturing back from china and he stresses the American People need help now, if there is a bigger package deal the president said he would lead on Senate Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell but he would take votes from democrats if necessary, mcconnell says he will move forward with the skinny bill somewhere around 500 billion with an amendment being voted on today that would add to reup the Payroll Protection Program with 250 billion, that would add to the skinny bill and the vote is scheduled for tomorrow, we will hear the Senate Majority leader talk about this after the luncheon and see where he stands on a larger package, senator rick scott on the sense of the package. People have lost their jobs, lets help Small Businesses, get our schools open and more money for testing, vaccine, post office and the democrats keep locking it, we need to go help americans out of gotten hurt but i will tell you what im not going to do, we are not bailing out the states that pay for their own Pension Plans and cant live within their means. The nesthe next really packat come down who voters think youre working the hardest to get something done whether or not something gets passed before november 3, they are negotiating issues both for republicans, democrats who are voting for it and now two weeks to the election. Neil Edward Lawrence thank you very much predont blame sarah nelson, she is hearing all of this and continues about the details, she just wants relief for the Airline Industry and she has argued eloquently and relentlessly for months, she joins me the Flight AttendantAssociation President , it looks a little dicey, last time we chatted and looks like there was a good chance we can get this done, i dont know now. The truth is, if you put the airline provision which is a job in infrastructure plan, not a bailout for the airlines, we crafted this it would cover 70 of the payroll and required the airlines to keep people in their jobs rather than sending them to unemployment lines without Health Insurance. We have people who continue to pay into the economy and it shown that we support 3. 55 other jobs in america, if you get rid of our jobs, its a cascading effect as well, the other thing that this program has done is kept the infrastructure going to our smaller communities and requires the airlines to do noneconomic things, these are private companies that the law requires noneconomic keeping the jobs and infrastructure in place to america keep going in the middle of this pandemic and thats why there has been unanimous support, specifically to the floor of the senate, there would be 95 votes for, we just need a vehicle to get this done, acrosstheboard americans need help but we should surely do the things that we agree on. Neil 1 Million People were back flying tsa checkpoints across the country and the things ive been picking up, is nothing like it used to be, how long do you think the industry could stumble on without this aid . Lets be clear, 1 Million People is 40 what it was a year ago and only 20 of the revenue. We are right in the middle of the crisis and is not just the concern about the virus and the safety is the fact theres nothing to travel to, Business Travel is now 96 , what we need is continued aid to key people in these jobs in the Infrastructure Program going and we have suggested for another six months, that gets us closer to a vaccine, testing regiment where people could start to open up the rest of the economy and get things back to normal, what i should tell you during the great recession, the airline fluctuated about 15 in their demand as they were able to weather without any furloughs. If we can get back, we will still be smaller, if we can get back closer to the normal size that we were, these six months will really be what is necessary to get us to a place where we can continue and be the backbone of the economy. Neil you have to wonder six months from now countries dont allow americans and or quarantine them or states still fighting with each other on who can and who cant and who is on an audio list and whos not, you are still facing that. That is just it, that is why what the president is saying and needing relief is exactly right, he really needs to lean on senators like Chuck Grassley to say make this happen, Speaker Pelosi setting a deadline on the night saying shes trying to drive to a deal, i do believe the president and the speaker coming together, we need all of the parties at the table and understanding this relief has to be in place now, we need this relief everyone agrees on for the Airline Industry but we also need the release really for the testing and all the things that need to be happen to safely reopen our country and confidence that we can do that so we can compete in the world as well. That is where we are and we gotta have the relief package done, im putting all of my energy towards the negotiators today to get this done. We cannot retroactively help people, i will tell you there are people in my union who are feeling despair weve had people try to take their lives, you cannot restore those lives and people who lost their homes or people who are moving their kids inasmuch as they can into their cars and trying to survive without Health Insurance, without Health Insurance to help them get their chronic illnesses which regular treatments where they can live virtually normal lives but without it they cannot do another job, this is what were talking about, you cannot retroactively help these people who will be so harmed if we wait until february to get anything to the american public. Neil agree to disagree, it is fair to say, you represent your folks very, very well, hopefully cooler, heads prevail and think this through. We will keep demanding more from its not okay for congress not to act. Thank you we will keep demanding more from. Neil keep making a pain of yourself sarah nelson, thank you very much. Ive been feeling she will. Christina park and ellis joins ujoins us. And we come up with aa elisa stadium part, christina what are they picking up. For the first time in 52 years Madison Square garden will be used as a voting supercenter and this is what we see across the country here americans can vote as early as this saturday october 24 in the stadium behind me will be used for 60000 eligible voters in the area it will be the largest polling station, why are they doing that you have four states, nhl, and bmba nhl offering of their arens and stadiums to be turned into pulling areas where people can go votes, and the theory behind this is to allow people to feel more comfortable because there is more room and hopefully boost participation. This far according to the u. S. Election project there are already 34 over 34 million americans have casted their ballot and voting is underway at many of the stadiums across the country including fenway park, the charlotte hornets, tampa bay bucs just to name a few and these are places with ample room, a lot of electricity for the voting machine and staff to understand how to deal with crowds and many of the arenas if they are not owned by the teams would be up to local officials to make the decision whether they can be used for voting thats why everyone are not all states will be turning their Sports Centers into voting areas but the Madison Square garden behind me will welcome voters on saturday just not sports fans. Back to you. Neil thank you very much for that. This might be a reason why theyre kicking that around, all of this voting going around, 30 million ballots already said in, when all is said and done it could be up to 100 million, that is about ten times just where we were four years ago at this point, build a and the wall street editorial ward member bush 43 speechwriter on this phenomenon, we knew it would be big, it is living up to that expectation, it is off the charts, i am wondering how this is changing the dynamics. What do you think. The short answer is we do not know in the two concerns are one fraud, its a lot easier to commit fraud with a mailin ballot than in person vote and apart from fraud, human error, we have not tried on the scale before as you have mentioned, i think the result is going to be we are going to be having hanging chads on steroids if you remember the 2000 election and probably not, we know we will not know the results for a while because some of the states are going to be counting ballots after the election. Neil so the bulk of the 30 million, 33 million or so that weve already seen tabulated are they being tabulated now are waiting on election day or some states like pennsylvania and elsewhere up to six days after election day . Its a real problem if you look at the last decision in pennsylvania, as i understand it, the rule now, they will count ballots up to six days after the election even if they dont have a postmark, that is an invitation for people to put up the stock of ballots and have them ready to go, its a lot harder if you have have a postmark and i think were inviting disaster, if you remember the democratic primary and how many states could not get their act together with new technology or whatever happens, were just asking because were making such a huge change in such a short period of time, and our state, new jersey i think youre still a proud resident, we have to vote by mail, we cannot vote in person, i am meeting people every day who do not know that. Neil what is to stop summary to get a mailin ballot from on the day itself voting again . Thats a good question, new jersey they claim to have a procedure, if you showed up at the voting station on election day in new jersey, they would let you provisionally vote so you would be counted but then they would check that against presumably a master roll or the mail ballot to see if they got a mail ballot. Even not assuming willful fraud, the potential for human error is so large, were already discovering stashes of ballots in different places again, it doesnt mean anyone is trained to steal the election, mean someone put over here in the corner in it such a terrible experience. Neil im curious, theres a Record Number of the ballots, there is a counterargument that these are votes that wouldve been registered on election day anyway, it is not dramatically altering whatever the outcome finally is, when i look at these numbers, it looks like it is, it is changing but your thoughts. I think so, go back to the hanging chads where they had to decide where something was punched all the way through, there needs to be 70 questions that need to be adjudicated and each one is going to raise a question about the legitimacy of the result, thats the real problem, we dont need challenges to the legitimacy of the president ial election but the way things are going, you can see either side complaining that their voters were not counted, they should of been warned primarily because a battleground states, the margins are so narrow so a little shift could mean a big change in electoral votes. Neil a landslide could make all of this of maneuver point for one side or the other. Yes, right, i think it would. I remember the democratic primary, i remember the 2000 election and its hard for me too believe that there will not be a days possibly weeks of confusion and bitterness and fighting especially in those states where the margins are so narrow, i think trump won pennsylvania 2016 by 1 . Its going to come down to a few thousand votes in some of the states. Neil over 6 million cast in michigan, anyone by 10000 votes. It could be a nightmare. Thank you very much my friend. Be well, be safe. In the meantime the Justice Department going after alphabet, the stock is up which kind of surprised me, if you got all the honchos in the losses coming, charlie might know, he is up next. Hi, this is margaret your Dell Technologies advisor theres an art to listening. Its the ability to hear more than whats being said. To understand the meaning in every pause. And to be able to offer the answers that make someone feel truly heard. I understand, lets get started. Thats what you get when you talk to a Dell Technologies advisor. Neil the Justice Department in antitrust case against google, you would think that would tank the stock, it is not, Alphabet Holding its own through this all, might be well telegraphed but Charlie Gasparino count me confused, what is going on here. Its got a lot of people confused except for investors when the news hit in they read the complaint lets just say underwhelmed was the word of the day. Investors that we are talking to are downplaying the impact on this, they believe if you look at it there is a lot of heated language but in terms of comparing it to other antitrust suits on tech such as microsoft which had specific issues that microsoft did to hurt a competitor mainly netscape if you remember that name late back when arrival server, this lacks the specificity, that is the initial lead from top investors in tech, they believe it is too broad and will take years to litigate, they believe google has the Financial Resources to fight they believe google and heres the other interesting thing, they think that google even if you broke it up, that is the worst case scenario, google, you can get a lot of value out of some of its parts, youtube, all the different parts of google. There is a very positive spin on this thing, including the fact that the Justice Department has not called for remedies, that is one of the issues, it is not saying that we need to break up google, it is leaving it out there, there could be a negotiated settlement on this in terms of what they do to clean up the Justice Department believes is antitrust behavior in their search, that is why the stock is up, i thought the stock would go down but then again it was a matter of how the Justice Department would go after google and what was in the lawsuit. We should point out there are people that are saying this is significant, the Justice Department could add to charges the state attorney general are going to come out and issue their own case that google could face years and years of litigation, that is not exactly good, this is a company that makes a lot of money, plenty of cash out of the balance sheet, a Strong Company inasmuch as they went after microsoft, microsoft is still around and makes a ton of dough. And it does not seem to be exponential as they would say and again, this is today version and who knows what happens if theres more charges or more development on the case which we will Pay Attention to because as you know as google goes, so goes a lot of the stock market, its one of the important stocks that trade analyst did not exceed and everybody owns. How are you neil. Neil im fine. Do we know if the president is involved, if you views, if he supports, is supposed to be handsoff with the Justice Department and the white house. We should point out the head of the antitrust division recused himself because he once did work for google, this was headed by william barr, the attorney general and one of his underlings that was the point man on this. Of all of the Tech Companies that trump has a problem with, google seems to be the least of his least of his venom towards them, it is sometimes twitter, sometimes recently facebook and for issues that you are reading about, amazon, however, conservatives believe that google does manipulate its search against conservative leaning issues and where they dont come up is readily more leftwing leaning issues, thats a conservative argument, is not so much antitrust argument even if theyre bringing antitrust, it will be interesting to see, the president has not said anything yet on this case. Neil im glad you added yet, thank you very much. Happy cooking my friend, quite the chef. We are following this and the election day on something that could drag on, so are two different secretaries, what did defense secretary say its a vital issue to make the world aware and we can handle this after this. Since pioneering the suv in 1935, the chevy suburban has carried many things. Nothing more important than family. Introducing the most versatile and advanced chevy suburban and tahoe ever. Neil election day two weeks from today in the early talking about Law Enforcement to make sure everything goes smoothly, eric shawn with more on that. There is an arson investigation in los angeles after one of the ballot boxes was apparently set on fire on sunday night, the state has put out ballot boxes were people can pop their ballot in to vote, they dont have to stand in line or trust the mail to vote, this official ballot box was destroyed by a fire in los angeles, Officials Say 100 ballots were inside blackened and chard, they came after Election Officials decided to allow the state Republican Party to place gop ballot boxes on the streets but this one was not one of those, investigators say someone that took a newspaper put it to the slot in the dropbox but the good news, they have identified the boats and cindy knew ballots whose votes were incinerated. They have determined whose ballot was actually in the dropbox that was damaged and they are immediately resending everyone in new ballot for them to fill out and try again. Right now is the time that people need to have their voices heard, to do Something Like this is just terrible. In pennsylvania the u. S. Attorney promises to crack down on anyone who tries to interfere with voting is. If you burn things or destroy property or threaten people or if you attack police officers, we will crackdown as hard as we can. And meanwhile memphis, tennessee a coworker has been fired after turning away voters who had printed on their tshirts black lives matter and i cant breathe, that is acceptable under law in tennessee, you cannot have a specific campaign or candidates name on a shirt or party slogan but you can have other statements and the worker is fired and they apologize. Neil thank you, now a bipartisan morning from the Top Republican and top democrat, make sure this kind of stuff does not happen, make sure this does not get out of control leon panetta in chuck Hagel Company writing an article in which they make the premise, if fear prevails, the United States could be on a collision course to disaster in november leon panetta white house chief of staff and a cia director, u. S. Defense secretary, chuck u. S. Republican secretary and vietnam war and veteran, they might be on different pages when it comes to certain other matters but not on this matter. Gentlemen, nice to have both of you here, secretary chuck hagel, if i begin with your concern, secretary leon panettas concern, how this looks to the rest of the world as well, can you ask plane. Yes, if the United States believes, i think there is reason to believe that we are and have been the leading democracy in the world for 250 years, we are imperfect, we made a lot of mistakes, we have to fix a lot yet but we have been able to overcome these challenges and issues over the years, we have been able to produce safe, secure and honest elections, when the world sees us floundering and offbalance and going through what we are going through now and will probably go through over the next few weeks unfortunately, it makes the world more volatile, the world loses confidence in american leadership, they do not trust american leadership, if we cannot conduct elections in a democratic republic, in a way that people can have confidence and trust and are secure, then what can we do right, this is a dangerous time, it is a defining time here in the United States, these elections are so important because they are the essence of democracy. Neil all go to you very quickly, are you saying that the president is making this worse by telegraphing his concerns outright saying theres a lot of problems and you might have trouble accepting the results of this. What do you think. I dont think that adds to confidence in our voters and how the world perceives our elections when the president of the United States makes those kinds of comments, i dont blame the president of the United States through all of this, i think there is an underlying dynamic and factor across the country that we have seen coming, its a breakdown in trust and confidence in our institutions, and our system and in our leaders, that is not the president s fault, he does not add to it, he does not help when he makes comments like he does, he could be making afe kind ndndonndonnd onts of o cococe a tnd d and d at d yste cakoe toeystemysteork, yste yste ets ghe ghe g gther w ne il o o t of t ofnghi thahi ii sreininrchegrehe pdents guntmer oriti otititifhi t t t,t ,yst i gsting ovengheveng,lm we eawe h brloalalstca thou inu tsaow thr on iuthi i t in pcentereagf o os t ot o iveee irfol fwing f f ttn 33nilnon tont we gten so so sar tabatedatat so n mthtttnt exaggeraagtion, the t ccern thatatoing toio oorw ohelm t syem pem pculayla when t whehe o have start counting allff hee and t ahendin liesiehe re of 2000 years is not a legitimate fear . Whatever the presidency is. Theres no question that were dealing with one of the most important elections certainly in my lifetime and i think most americans understand how important this is and were going to have a huge turnout and a lot of it is going to be different because of covid19 and a lot of people are going to vote by mail in ballots and absentee ballots and theres going to be a lot of ballots into the state Election Officials around the country and the most important thing all of us have to be patient and allow this process to play out, there will be some bumps in some incidents as we have seen that i think if we are patient and allow the Election Officials in the different states to do their job and count the ballots then i think ultimately we will get a result that will represent a free and Fair Election for all the American People. Neil it looks like we might get record turnout that might go back to the 1960s jfk Richard Nixon election, do you think that will be the case. I think theres a very good chance that thats going to happen, weve had a lot of the early voting in a number of states, you have had mailing ballots sent out to california and weve already received our mailing ballots in sentiment, there is a lot of that going on around the country, i think theres a great deal of interest in the selection and theres clearly a lot of division in the country a lot of concern about our future and i think people will go to the polls and indicate what kind of direction that they want for the future, that is a great opportunity for the American People im a believer in our democracy and the ability of voters to decide what happens in our democracy, the ultimate check and balance in our system is the ability of the American People to vote, thats the most important check and balance that we have. Neil we do know foreignpolicy will not be among the debate subjects that will be featured on thursday, i dont know thats how thats going to work out but the power and the moderator to cut a microphone on one of these guys, i would be curious to get your views while i have you here on the New York Post or the biden email story, social media came under scrutiny for not allowing users to resend it or retweet it whatever the technology is, but to you think it should come up, do you think the president will force the issue secretary chuck hagel, and really push it, do you think that would be a wise idea, what do you think of an issue. If youre talking about foreignpolicy as an issue, it is an issue, its a big issue we live in interconnected world, we are dependent on allies and alliances and relationships all over the world are trade, economy, national security, intelligence sharing gathering in every aspect of our lives of american lives is connected to the global dynamic. Foreignpolicy i know and most president ial elections taken a backseat, most of them havent i get that, and i understand why, especially now because of covid19 the consequences, economic consequences that have happened and were in a recession and all that flows from that, foreignpolicy is so critical, so important and i think it deserves a place on the agenda, the debate agenda and it should be in all the debates, im a strong believer that you have to include that in the larger scope and framework of americas interest because its not exactly central but its a big part of our national interest. Neil you have not lost your touch from their days in service avoiding the question about the biden emails so touche to you that. Im just kidding but i do want leon panetta to get your take now that the signatures appeared to be hunter biden on the documents and everything else, i dont know where this goes but is it an issue to pursue, its been on the Biden Campaign that there might be something there there might not be but a lot less has been brought up with more details on the president that did come up, should it come up . Look, i agree with chuck about the importance of discussing our Foreign Affairs and the challenges that we face in the world, the president of the United States is the commanderinchief and responsible for protecting our national security, i think that is important. Neil whether there was charges about someone who might have been using the influence of the Vice President to court favor with business interests in ukraine . There is no question, those charges will probably come up on both sides, biden will raise the issue of this president going to the ukraine and china to get them to interfere in the election and im sure President Trump will raise the issue of hunter biden but both of them need to raise the issue of russian interference in our election because very frankly, that interference is what is undermining the American Election system and not to accept that no matter what theyre trying to accomplish it is unacceptable to interfere in our election. Neil secretary chuck hagel Hillary Clinton advised joe biden not to concede no matter what is going on Election Night and obviously folks are just argumentative, this could be a long time in getting a final result, we dont know things can be very different, what do you think the environment will be if this were to drag on 30 days or more and were looking at a 2000 phenomenon where we dont know some are worried about violence, appraising, do you worry about that . I do worry about it very much. , we as a nation especially this year for so many reasons and we discussed some of them, we are here triggered, it is like dealing with nitroglycerin, every issue and i dont recall a nitroglycerin type of election, president ial election ever quite like this, sparks set things off and if we do not have certification over winter or week or two weeks, that does run the risk of malicious taking the streets, lawsuits, calls of fraud and every aspect that we want to accept the selection if it was fraudulent why cant we get a winner, i dont think the same society as it was in 2000, i dont think Society Today is near as tolerant as we reword into thousand and the American People let it go on and on the Supreme Court made a decision, al gore was a gentleman and he said i have lost and that was it, i dont think that is the same kind of situation as we have today, i am worried and concerned and some of the points that leon made that both sides have tampered down, and let the system work, let the process work, it will work in the system is honest, we know it is honest but it will work. Neil secretary i want to thank you both very, very much, im too young to remember the 2000 election but i heard there was a great deal of controversy. Thank you both very, very much, very good having you on, as their speaking the dow is up 360 points as theirs worries materializes over the market is a not yet. Neil take a look, we are at session highs of 360 points, a couple catalyst on the vaccine astrazeneca saying covid19 drug in the u. S. Will resume as early as next week, the trial that was disrupted by a patient who contracted meningitis whether it was directly related to the treatment we do not know. My moderna is seen vaccine results as soon as next month and then nancy pelosi saint a covid19 a bill will need to get finished by the end of next week in order to get it out by november 3, the one caveat there is the senate does not like anything these two sides are putting together.
