Like everything with President Biden hes not too responsive on a lot of things, i think hes not as stern and firm as what President Trump was and i think the countrys failing because of it. His deal with the iran and the 6 billion he gave them, its awful. Convoluted together, its causing an issue. He needs to do better. I just think he needs to put put up a little bit stronger p front than what he is. Personally to me, seems like hes presenting the United States as weak. Maria according to the new york post, biden spent 40 of his presidency on personal trips away from the white house. Largely at the beach, joe. Well, yo i just spent the commercial break going through 50cent quotes, this is a very perceptive guy, a really smart guy. Hes saying what were all seeing when it comes to joe biden. You have really the defining crisis of your presidency. Its not migrants, not the economy. We will remember the crisis in israel and the war that broke up as a result in history books from here through posterity. This is joe bidens moment and spending your time on the beach and doing your little shuffle along the waterfront with your wife is as nice thing to do in august when nothing is going on in the world but when we have american hostage as, current hostages, currently in the hands of terrorists, whether youre doing something or not, you are the president. You have to portray that the entire weight of the United States armed forces and civilian diplomats are doing everything they can to resolve this crisis. Is joe biden doing that . He actually went against some of the advice of his generals at the time. We know that now. And history is going to not only show the afghanistan issue, its going to show china and now israel, ukraine, and im sorry but im going back to this 105 billion that hes requesting that the senate is going to take up today, you realize hes requesting more money for ukraine than he is for israel. And israel is where the tinder box is, israel is the one that is our ally, 1,000 percent, thats where we need to be. Look at his funding choices, only 14 billion for the southern border, maria. Its not just how he appears this walk and then he doesnt appear passionate or determined at all which is what i would want to see from a president right now, i would want to see anger, not sleep ian gear which is sleepy anger which is what i feel like thats what we got last week when he you addressed the nation. To be clear, were declining on the world stage and thats a very precarious position because its not just americas safety around the world and our troops safety around the world, especially in iraq, concerned about getting attacked from syria we are also now worried about attacks here at home. S hes part of the group of eight who gets Intelligence Briefings on these kinds of things and he said the other day that there are terrorist cells here in america already. We know that there were plenty of people apprehended at the southern border trying to enter. Thats why i was frankly so shocked and disappointed, i guess not shocked anymore, but disappoint inned the fact that so little resources are being directed to the southern border. That is u. S. Look at who is coming out of egypt, afghanistan. Turkey. This is frightening these numbers. Maria the most stunning number is the chinese nationals. 2,000 chinese nationals apprehended in the first two weeks of the new fiscal year. Thats just october 1st to october 14th. Two weeks you had 2,000 chinese nationals largely military aged men. You have to question what is going on and what is xi jinping directing because i dont think you can leave china for an extended period without having approval from the communist t government. Time for the word on wall street, top investors watching your money, joining me right now is ubs private Wealth Management financial advisor, sarah ponczek. Ponczek. We are looking at an earnings driven rally. Thats what you want to see with a rally, right . Based on fundamentals, youve got general motors. 3m, verizon, cocacola reporting a double beat. Ge and coke raising guidance, ge stock has impressed me this morning, its up 5 and a quarter percent. After the bell were getting microsoft and alphabet, tomorrow we get meta. Thursday we get amazon. What are your expectations and reactions to what youve seen so far . Youre right, maria. That is exactly what we want to see. Much of this years trading been driven or predicated on Interest Rates even though theyve continued to move higher, thats where end vesters mind investors mindset has been focused. When you look behind the curtains its great to see strong fundamentals. This is going to be a crucial week for earnings, about 40 of the s p 500 in terms of market cap is reporting and in large part that is because were seeing many of those magnificent seven large cap tech stocks reporting earnings. If we look at the past three quarters, we have seen three straight quarters of year over year declines in corporate profits for the s p 500 but we do expect this quarter to be that turn. Were going to see profits return and in large part that will be driven by earnings from many of these large cap tech names. Were expecting about 30 Earnings Growth from these seven large cap names. So not only have they been driving the rally for the majority of this year but theyve also been driving the earnings as well. Maria thats a great point. With ge weve got 84 million in earnings after a loss of 313 million a year ago with microsoft were looking at the First Quarter for microsoft and the preview is talking much when you look at Analyst Reports this morning on microsoft, theyre talking about a. I. , share a thats supposed to be the sarah, thats supposed to be the big driver when theyre talking about what takes growth higher in the next quarter. Youre right. A. I. Has been a buzz word all year long in 2023 but the reality is that a. I. Is not just a buzz word. It is reality. Its happening in front of our eyes. And it is important if youre an investor to make sure you have a piece of your portfolio that is latched onto the future growth, the future profits that we are going to see for these companies that are at the forefront of the change because its going to be a huge money maker. So yes, when we hear from these companies, we want to the hear about their a. I. Rollouts, what are they doing, are they making money from it already, what do they expect in the future and ccap ex trends in the space. Maria they reported a sequential decline in azure growth, ayou azure is the a. I. T there, the Cloud Business and analysts are expecting that company to turn around, with growth in the fourth quarter, to turn around in this quarter. Well be watching that. Microsoft expected to report 54 andahalf billion in revenue. That stock is up yeartodate. So these stocks have been seeing some pretty good moves. Ge and all the tech names in the last several months. Rebecca, i want to get your take on whether thats sustainable especially with the cost of oil, the cost of higher rates. Oil prices are rebounding, investors are on edge with the israel, hamas war. Is that going to disrupt supply exports. Oil at 85, 89, down from 90 we saw earlier in the week and last week, but still this is an elevated price. Rebecca, your thoughts. Last week they announced the ending of sanctions on venezuela, and opec nation. Were expecting not immediately that would ease 200 to 300 you thousand barrels a day. And a that would help. Youre seeing that a little bit. Honestly, the i still think weve got a more oil shock pricing ahead. When youve got a war going on in the middle east which is literally the center of the world for oil concentration, youre going to have more price volatility here. And really oil, you know, maria, we had in the first three quarters, we had 75 billion of acquisitions or mergers announced. So thats the name of the game. North American Oil Companies are looking for ways to continue to give investors growth amid higher rates, amid higher costs of capital, amid global slowdown of manufacturing and orders and that affects demand for crude. All of these things will cause oil to be volatile for the rest of the year. Maria microsoft in terms of a. I. , it made a massive investment in chatgpt so thats really the a. I. Business. Invested 10 billion in chatgpt developer, open a. I. And unveiled a. I. Enhanced versions of its bing search engine. So youve got that, that well probably hear about tonight when they report as well as the Cloud Business as i mentioned earlier, azure. Rebecca, when you look at this tech layout and the stocks that have traded up so much all year, would you put new money to work here . Well, its hard. Microsoft is over 36 yeartodate. Right . And so that is really difficult to say oh, lets go and buy when it seems like maria now. Exactly. Its 36 from start to now. Thats a large but you know, maria, chatgpt, they have such a runway on that thing and they are going to be in the leading position for a long, long time. Its going to take the others a long time to catch up because already this is being implemented globally, so many people have got this on their phone, as an app, and so that is the beginning of it and people are starting to accept it in their daily lives, writing emails and Text Messages with chatgpt. This is happening. Maria i would also add that its good to see a little broadening out, sarah, today with the industrials getting in on the rally, right . I mean, ge is up, 3m is up, weve got some guidance thats better than expected. Thats a positive because its been all about this narrow rally in tech, to see this broadening out of industrials has to be good for any expectations that this rally has legs. Yes, we need to see some broadening out. Its been the story all year long that its a handful of names leading the rally. The market cap weighted s p 5 which is the normal index everyone tracks, versus the equal weight version, the spread weve seen all year long is a historic one. Its great to see cyclical sectors joining on the rally. Many experts will say thats precisely what we need to see in order to see this next leg of the market rally. Maria right. A Bipartisan Group of lawmakers raising concerns about this last week, asking the Biden Administration for swift action to protect National Security. The Treasury Department is proposing a label for cryptocurrency mixers which provides customers with anonymity, easing concerns over money laundering. Joining me is former cia Counter Terrorism analyst and crypto counsel innovation director for money laundering. Thank you very much for being here. We want to show this graph which shows hamas crypto haul just as of july 2021, you can see that hamas has raised millions of dollars through different cryptocurrencies. Tell us about this. So you know, what youve seen, theres probably a little bit of context that needs that is needed. You know, hamas has actually been experimenting with crypto over several years. I think going back to 2019 and they started with crowd funding, basically doing sort of very simple rudimentary campaigns where they would put up a crypto address and ask for people to send them funds. Those efforts were often i think somewhat successful, maybe immediately they were successful but they were a double edged sword because its difficult to raise crypto for a long time when youre sort of basically putting an x on your back telling authorities where you are or at least that youre raising funds. So they often were difficult. I think in terms of what were seeing long term, because theres been a lot of reports about numbers and in the billions, in terms of the context, i think what were probably seeing is the fact that hamas has been able to convert some of its funds, some of its cash from other sources into crypto, laundering through brokers on the ground in gaza, through other brokers and exchanges that are outside the United States so that they can take cash that they have and then convert it. So theres sort of a mix of whats happening, its not all that theyre raising funds directly from the public or donors in crypto. A lot of it is mixing money around and converting into crypto. Maria we know that iran supports hamas but were trying to understand how this terrorist group has made this money to be able to get weapons that they have to kill so many people. Thats what were trying to get at. What do you think . Well, i mean, hamas has a huge i mean, a huge budget. Their mix of funds comes as you said from iran, state sponsorship, right, also it comes from taxation. Remember, hamas a is in power. Taxes folks within gaza. Hamas has a mix of businesses. Treasury actually last week sanctioned the individuals involved with hamas investment portfolio. They have an investment portfolio worth in the hundreds of millions of dollars of real estate, construction, mining businesses, people dont realize that. This is a group that actually has its tentacles far and wide. When they get the cash, then get those investments, they send it where they need it or they receive it in ways that they need and crypto can be part of that, part of the mix. You have to think, terrorists are creative folks so theyre going to try to balance, mix things up, launder money and lets say in gaza you have these brokers which are basically money exchangers and so some of the figures that were seeing in terms of these seizures of crypto, often theyre the brokers who are serving hamas but also serving other people and those brokers get their account seized and all of the funds, all of the crypto funds belonging to the brokers may be caught up in that. That doesnt necessarily mean its all hamas. So just a little bit of clarity on some of the figures weve seen in the news in the past few weeks. Maria thats unbelievable. Senior pentagon officials are expecting to see a significant escalation of attacks against potentially u. S. Troops in the middle east. They say that recent drone and missile attacks have iranian fingerprints all over them. The iran backed Islamic Resistance claims responsibility for an attack on a strategic u. S. Base in southern syria. Heres National SecurityCouncil Spokesperson john kirby on this. Watch this. Iran continues to support hamas and hezbollah. And we know that irans closely monitoring these events and in some cases actively facilitating these attacks and spurring on others who may want to exploit the conflict for their own good or for that of iran. We know irans goal is to maintain some level of denyableity here but were not going to a allow them to do that. Were not going to allow any threat to interest in our region to go unchallenged. Maria and yet this administration has been begging for an Iran Nuclear Deal from day one. Talk to us about irans use of proxies and the financing of those. Yeah, you know, iran for a long time has sort of used other proxies, other groups, militias around the region to do its dirty work, basically. And so you see this in terms of whats happening with hamas and elsewhere in the region. Its interesting because hamas support over time, you know, it sort of ebbs and flows in terms of these groups, its not always necessarily giving the exact same amount of funds. What impacts that . Well, pressure on iran, its own budget and its own cash flow so youre probably going to find that when iran has cash, its going to put that cash to use, not just domestically but with those groups that are supporting its strategic interest. So its not a surprise, this has been a long time thing. Maria i dont know that theyre putting it to use at all domestically. Look, lets face it, 60 of the people in iran are living below the poverty level. This is a country that could be rich in terms of life for the people with all of the oil and the capacity for more oil and yet theyre using their revenue from oil on their nuclear ambitions, on, you know, supporting these terrorist proxies instead of giving it to the people, isnt that right . Yeah, i think youre right. And it really just goes to show what were dealing with. The world, especially region, these are very much dangerous times. Years ago i was a Counter Terrorism analyst at the cia. This is something i watched and unfortunately looks like the world has not changed enough since when i was doing Counter Terrorism work. Maria so whats the answer in terms of keeping iran in check . Look, youre watching this axis of evil come into play once again. Iran, russia, north korea, china is also supporting these players against the west. Its going to take really a steady hand. I mean, i dont envy those that are actually making the decisions so all i can he say is the u. S. Is going to have to tread carefully. Theres going to have to be a very clear i would say guidelines for how y the u. S. Deals with this. But its not an easy thing, maria. I really wish it was something that a simple policy decision could rectify but this is going to continue to be a longstanding risk, longstanding threat in the region. This top diplomat is going to visit the United States for two days, wang ye is blinkens counter part. Its billed as a reciprocal visit as blinken visited beijing in june. The administration is defending the visit, they say facetoface diplomacy is the best way to address the issues and miscommunication as they work with the chinese but really this could set the stage for chinese president xi jinping to travel to california in november and a possible facetoface meeting with president joe biden. Well, Alaska Airlines flight 2059 declaring an emergency over a, quote, credible Security Threat on sunday and we now know that joseph emerson, an off aduty Alaska Airlines pilot was riding jump seat on the flight headed for San Francisco when he allegedly leapt for the controls, attempting to shut down the engines. The captain and first officer restraining him and making an emergency landing. In a statement alaska saying the flight from washington to San Francisco reported a Security Threat related to an occupant in the jump seat. The crew secured the aircraft without incident. Hes charged with 83 counts of attempted murder, 83 counts of reckless endangerment. He aparently suffered a mental breakdown. We know that because the Flight Attendant came on the pa system and told the passengers thats what happened in the cockpit but the captain and first officer are heroes, heroes for saving that aircraft and those that could have been a very, very horrible situation. Maria youre right. Thank you, cheryl. Youre right. Pennsylvania congressman dan meuser meanwhile dropping out of the race for the speaker of the house last night, leaving eight gop candidates left. Lawmakers will hold a secret ballot in the less than 906 minutes, they will 90 minutes. They will vote for a nominee. Congressman don bacon told reporters he expects the house will have a new speaker by tonight. Watch. I think we have a great team in there. They are making great cases. I think well have a speaker tomorrow night. Im hopeful. I wish i could put i think well have one selected tomorrow. I think well weve got to make sure they have 217 and theyll get it on the floor. Maria joining me rights now is new york congresswoman Claudia Tenney, a member of the house ways and means committee. Good to see you. Do you agree with that, youll have a speaker by tonight . Im pretty confident were going to have were going to fair roe it down to one. I think it will take a few ballots in the conference to get there but really good presentations last night by the potential speaker candidates, and i think a few really stood out and well see where that goes. The key thing is, a lot of these people were good friends. I think mike johnson was excellent. I think Byron Donalds gave a very good presentation. I think kevin hern gave a good presentation as a business person, someone who is a steady hand, someone who has been running the republican study committee, the largest caucus in the republican side and in congress. I also think austin scott made a very good argument on the other side. Its hard to say who it will come down to. I think it will be who can bring the few factions together, the right and the left, sotospeak, the moderates and the conseconservesand everyone cs and everyone in the middle together and unite the conference. I think thats what it will come down to. I think a lot of good presentations, some good ideas about how we go forward structurally and who can avoid the motion to vacate which was threatened by m matt gaetz again last night. Maria he wants to keep the rule. I thought you were looking to get rid of the rule where one person can take down the speaker the way matt gaetz did with Kevin Mccarthy. Well, i would like to see us move to more members being able to bring motion to vacate but really that rule comes down to what the motion meant on the floor, one person can bring it. Can you get the votes on the floor . There was a question asked at, the last question by matt gaetz and he said ill hold everybody to it and that was his last sort of veiled threat because he walked out of the room so hes not done with stirring up some issues in the republican congress, for sure. But look, he has the right to do that and we move forward with whatever his mission is. Maria congresswoman, let me get your take on where the Common Ground is. Do you feel that there is Common Ground on the investigations into the buy done family . Biden family . Weve talked a lot about the influence peddling, there were charges of bribery out of the House Oversight committee. How much of the conference is for this investigation to move forward and do you see pushback from some people . Look, there is a substantial number, i would say the great majority of the conference, theres only a handful who i dont think are against whats happening but theyre concerned about their biden leaning districts and we go down the road to impeachment again and i will make this case to them. We actually have real crimes, real influence peddling coming from the Biden Administration that were made up on the trump administration. Everything was thrown at President Trump including the kitchen sink and they still have not been able to come out with anything because we found out how corrupt and mostly through a lot of your exposure, maria, we found out how corrupt our agencies are, the fbi, the cia, the retired Intelligence Officers who lied in a letter about the laptop that with the explosive information from hunter biden on it. I mean, it just like it just completely undermined our confidence in the fbi, the department of justice, the weaponization of government which is just so clear so i think we all agree. The question is, can some of our republican colleagues sell this in their very substantially large biden districts that they were able to win. Maria i see. Two members of the department of justice will appear before the house judiciary committee. This is this closed door testimony this week, part of the committees investigation into the hunter biden probe. Its happening as oversighted Committee Chairman james comer this week revealed a 200,000 check sent directly to joe biden from his brother, james, and his sisterinlaw, sarah. Remember, at this time james was still getting paid by the chinese. Back in june, biden slammed the republicans investigation into his finances. Heres what he said back then. Watch. The bribery allegations, congresswoman nancy mace a says theres evidence that you sold out the country. Do you have a response to Congressional Republicans . Wheres the money. Its a bunch of malarkey. Maria its interesting the way he taunts everybody. Wheres the money . Wheres the money . Its like its a taunt, you know, congresswoman, and, look, to be clear, they made it real difficult to find the money because while he was Vice President , according to james comer, the oversight chairman, joe biden and his family set up 20 Shell Companies where money was moving into these Shell Companies and eventually distributed to family members. So when he says wheres the money, he means it, because they made it real complicated to find the money. Looks like james comer is finding the money though. Yes, he is. Just shows the colossal arrogance of joe biden and the fact that hes been able to get away with this for so long and hes using the most powerful arms of government, fbi, doj, everyone, including the irs. Look how hard it was for us to get that information. If it was not for the slim majority and jason smith creating the whistleblower portal, we wouldnt know about the bombshell testimony that came from the two whistleblowers from the irs and all that we learned from that and we continue to go down and try to figure out what it is. Yes, it is a complex web but joe biden knows and ill tell you something i learned in law school, the criminal professor that i had said at some point, in some way, you will learn as you study criminal law that at one point, criminals will always lead you to the body one way or another and joe biden with his arrogance and his denial and his really the daring, go ahead, find the money, we are finding the money. The question is, when will Merrick Garland and lisa monaco who runs the department of justice do something and prosecute. Look at them going after these innocent parents at school board meetings, yet we have a major corruption scheme on our hands with the president of the United States covered up by these important and very powerful arms of our government while we have a war raging in the middle east, we have a war in europe, unprecedented at this time and for this era and wheres joe biden . Running around on the beach and doing other things, really trying to avoid this. I heard you talking about gavin newsom. Hes waiting in the wings. He can barely contain himself. Hes probably going to be the likely nominee.
