A former San Diego city attorney issued a public demand Wednesday for his successor, Mara Elliott, to answer specific questions about when she first learned of alleged corruption in the city’s failed lease of 101 Ash Street, a now uninhabitable office tower.
Michael Aguirre, who was the elected San Diego city attorney between 2004 and 2008, made the request of Elliott at an afternoon press conference on the front steps of the former Sempra Energy headquarters at 101 Ash St.
Aguirre said he wants to know when city officials learned that real estate adviser Jason Hughes collected nearly $10 million from a middleman company in the deal while consulting with former Mayor Kevin Faulconer.
