Jesse: the stages set for the first and only vice presidential debate between j. D. Vance and tim walz. But first, the mideast on the brink of war as iran launches over 200 ballistic missiles at israel. Iranian missile strikes in response to israel taking out the leader of hezbollah. Iranian terror proxy based in lebanon, which is been shelling israeli neighborhoods from the north. Israel's iron dome and u. S. Missile defense intercepting the iranian barrage. The pentagon sending additional service members to the region, bracing for potential attacks on u. S. Military bases. Israel will certainly respond with precision strikes inside iran proper. Here at home, over 45,000 dockworkers went on strike today, shutting down ports along the east coast and a gulf coast. The head of the union threatening to cripple the economy if they aren't given a hefty rays and a guarantee that robots won't take their jobs. People never gave a [bleep] about us until now, when they finally realize that the chain is being broke. Cars won't come in, food won't come in, clothing won't come in. You know how many people defend on our jobs? half the world. It's time for them and time for washington to put so much pressure on them to take care of us because we took care of them and we are here 135 years and brought them to where they are today and they don't want to share! jesse: american consumers will see shortages and high prices of coffee, fruit, foreign cars, chocolate, alcohol and many other products, as long as this contract dispute isn't settled. All this after americans are still stranded in their homes. Hurricane helene's fallacious impact on the southeast forcing citizens to beg for help. 160 dead and communities still underwater. Do you think the government is doing enough? honestly i don't know how you did not have a formal a formal press conference or something from either president biden or kamala harris. I mean how do you not say anything for four days? they've been stranded for four days and this is the first we've heard. From them at all. Fema is not on the ground there. At all. They are not in the city's, not in these towns and not in these villages. Jesse: vice presidential debates don't usually affect the election, but this one will. It's an extremely tight race and it's the last time both campaigns get the chance to define each other in front of millions, all in the backdrop of strikes, wars and natural disasters. This debate is going to be a battle between two men, for men. Harris has a man issue and it's not just white dudes. She needs to make up ground with black and hispanic men. Tonight walz has one job, stop the bleeding. So far walz has not been able to do that. Harris is far behind where biden was with men and the assistant coach hasn't been of assistance. He's been booed at college football games,'s ties to china are under investigation and he's been caught lying about his military record. Not to mention the way he carries himself physically has been, let's say, less than manly. Walz will have to defend his record in addition to kamala send biden's. And just like kamala's debate strategy, look for walz to attacked trump nonstop and offer no solutions, because if the democrats had any solutions they would have solved things by now. Harris and walz have run cowardly campaigns to this point. Both candidates have been hidden from the media. Walz, not having participated in contentious interviews like his opponent, he's been practicing throwing counterpunch is all week in mock debates with mayor pete. Walz will be folksy and slippery and appear to be tim allen from home improvement when in reality he's bernie sanders from vermont. Walz will say everything is great in america and if things aren't great it's trump's fault. J. D. Vance has a different agenda. Make kamala at walz own the bike and let biden legacy. Where trump fell a little short last time. The wall street journal says vance has to hang the bidenharris record around mr. Walz's neck. Viewers should come away realizing that four more years is just more of the same. Vance is a natural storyteller, a bustling author. We expect to see him tell the country a story about where we were, where we are today and were we are going. The american dream was alive and well four years ago. Biden and harris killed it and trump is bringing the american dream back. How can you run against the american dream? you can't. J. D. Has to keep walz on the defensive over tampons for middle school boys, sex changes for illegals, covid snitch lines and letting minneapolis burn. Men need to hear that. Whoever defines the other candidate with specifics wins. The debate will be moderated by cbs anchors, trump haters who covered up the laptop and blamed trump for not getting shot. We would like to see vance discredit the moderators early and demonstrate that the american first movement is running against a red system, but arguing with women is never a good idea it so j. D. Vance has to tread carefully, kind of like i do with jessica on the 5. Walz is going to try to make this whole debate about trump. Vance has to make it up out biden and kamala. By doing that, make the debate about you. Biden and harris are the incompetents and they've hurt you. They are promising to fix the problems they created but won't reveal how. You cannot trust somebody like that. The microphones will be hot so vance has to turn to walz and pin him down. Is bidenomics working? look around in the mideast, is the biden doctrine working? how are you different than joe biden? do that, just don't talk about cats, whatever you do. Talk about life in america. A corrupt system that has closed our porch and opened our borders, brought wars, crime and inflation, a political class that's turned it's back on you when you need it the most. Hurricane helene, east palestinian. The fundamentals of the race strongly favor the republican party. But abs we've seen in the last two debates, anything can happen. Cochair of the trump transition team and former presidential candidate joins me now. Where do you see vance going right out of the gate tonight. I think it's an opportunity for j. D. Vance to reintroduce himself to the american people. There's no safe assumption that they know who he is and his background and his story, where he came from and how he grew up and the challenges that he has overcome in really living out what many people would look at as the american dream. It's an important opportunity for him, as you said, to actually hold tim walz to account for kamala harris' record, given the fact that the propaganda media is essentially working for kamala harris' campaign to sell some false narrative that is not rooted anywhere in the reality of the challenges of the american people are facing. Quite frankly i hope that he confronts tim walz on his own record and fundamentally how tim walz does not believe in the first amendment. I don't believe that the moderators are going to ask tim walz any tough questions and so this is an opportunity for j. D. Vance to share the truth about who tim walz really is, who kamala harris really is, their radical policies for america, and how if you are unsatisfied with everything that's happened over the last four years, if you vote for kamala harris and tim walz, you will see all of that disaster escalated and gotten worse. Jesse: and j. D. Is capable of doing that. I have faith he will be able to do that. But these two moderators hate him. They hate everything he stands for, they want to see him go down hard. How do you handle two moderators like this up on stage? like you pointed out, i think j. D. Vance has to had a lot of experience just in the course of this campaign alone. I think he's done over 100 interviews on every single network with every single reporter. Even the most adversarial interviews, he's gone through, and quite frankly handled them with clarity and with focus, continuing to stay focused on the most important people that these moderators should be focused on, which is the american people. Unfortunately i think we will see more of the same, all they are interested in his political theater, creating viral moments and trying to help tim walz in this debate. Jesse: that's right. That's good. Tell the moderators nobody cares about that stuff. The american people don't care about that stuff, they are getting hammered by open borders, high prices, let's get onto real issues. Serious but respectful. Tulsi gabbard, we will see you soon, thank you as always. Let's bring in dr. Scott jensen who ran for governor in minnesota in 2022 and was the last republican to debate walz. So what is this guy like, doctor? tim walz can be a bit thinskinned to say the least. I think what has to happen tonight's j. D. Vance has to go after the basic issues. Tim walz has had a trail of chaos follow him. If you look at the kitchen table issues for the typical family and minnesota, ascot groceries, cost of housing, not doing well. If you look at safe streets, not doing well. Minneapolis is a city and trouble. If you look at education, kids are not doing well. Tim walz doesn't want to be held accountable for any of these things but yet this is on his watch. What you are going to see is if tim walz gets pinned down, he's going to react and he's going to start throwing his arms around and that's when j. D. Vance has a chance to really score points. I don't think j. D. Needs to try to score on every issue. Rand tim walz with the chaos, the slick teflon kind of person where he's used to having a friendly breeze at his back with the minnesota media. But that's not what will happen tonight. J. D. Vance is going to be ready to go and he needs to brand tim walz, chaos, quitting on the job, not leading, and trying to be a gavin newsom lookalike. Jesse: keep it resultsoriented and when he starts flailing his arms around, that's when you know you've got him. Dr. , thank you for that insight. Cohost of outnumbered and fox news contributor. Do you believe that walz is thinskinned and will be right for the picking? yes but it's not just the media lowering expectations, tim walz was own aids talked to cnn and when you read to the bottom of the article, this is quote i can't stop laughing at. His advisor advisors are worried he will come off as a, as a raging bull, or as an out of whack liberal the outing for another. That's not just lowering expectations. I've been in the world of politics, up and in the white house, i know about lowering expectations. Lowering expectations is j. D. Vance is a yelp graduate and he will be a tough opponent. It's not i'm worried he will be a more on a raging bull. He has a lot of issues, he's about to be exposed but the big thing for j. D. Vance is to show the nation that tim walz is an indictment on the judgement of kamala harris. She chose to malls and what does that tell you about kamala harris? jesse: and charlie that what does the fact that biden chose kamala harris say about biden? it has to remain about joe biden. Yeah, well, and i think as long as j. D. Vance focuses on the issues, the reason donald trump won in 2016 and the reason i think he will win this time is because of the issues. If they talk about the issues, if j. D. Vance successfully talks about the issues that people care about, i think he will win over a lot of people, because people are hurting right now and these issues are very important to them and it's a very straightline from the misery people feel in their lives directly to the policies of kamala harris and joe biden and now tim walz. And so they can play all of these games. But they definitely are trying to play some kind of game of trying to lower expectations because that's all they have. We saw the same thing happen with kamala harris. They play games, she went out there and she tried to get under donald trump skin. They only know how to play games and they are going up against people who have actual solutions that people actually care about and actually want to take hold in their lives. Jesse: so how does j. D. Vance react to the moderators, two females, and tim walz trying to get under his skin, trying to talk about fake controversies that the american public doesn't even know or care about, how does he do that? it's the art of the pivot. The art of the pivot. You have to have that when you are dealing with moderators like tonight. They will be biased, they will be liberal, that is what cbs is. I would tell j. D. Vance, watch the top of jesse watters show. Exactly what you said is what the american people are feeling. Iran is on the brink of nuclear weapons, the longshoreman are about to make sure the supplies you need in your household are not available because of a strike that joe biden failed to negotiate, donald trump would've had the art of the deal between the longshoreman and the company, and that is before we get to raging inflation and before begin to the mass of the world. Joe biden and kamala harris have made. Pivot to the issues. Don't take the bait. J. D. Vance is very adept at that. He's taking questions from the press every single day just about, repeatedly. He's ready, he's been on his feet, he's answered more questions than any candidate in the race and i think he's ready to go. Jesse: it's like when i was in study hall, older wanted to do was work. I wanted to put my knows down and write my paper and stuff and everybody around was distracting me, talking gossip, throwing spitballs. That's like this campaign. The republicans want to talk about the issues, talk about reality, and everybody else wants to talk about nothing and try to enrage everything. Do we have the discipline, j. D. , to be able to look everybody in the eye and stay focused tonight? and of course also the media is desperate to talk about anything other than the issues, because they know if they actually allow the debate, allow the election to wind up being about the issues, donald trump is going to win. And of course the whole reason, you know, and they are desperate not to let it be about the issues. Jesse: all right, we will see if it's an issue based thing or it's about cats. I will be right back with the rest of the team. More coverage now ♪ ♪
