My cousin Theresa was playing in a softball tournament in Palm Springs and asked if I’d like to come along. I’m always up for a road trip.
There's something about being on the road, that feeling of covering distance, discovering what's around each bend. Especially after the past year.
In the passenger seat, I read aloud from a list of things we could do.
The art museum. The Cabazon Dinosaurs, a roadside attraction featuring two enormous steel-and-concrete prehistoric beasts. Lunch at Sherman’s Deli, a local favorite where Frank Sinatra, Zsa Zsa Gabor and Rita Hayworth were said to hang out back in the day.
