Synopsis
The work on Census 2021 and updating the National Population Register (NPR) started in 2020, but had to be deferred due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Union Cabinet had approved Rs 8,754.23 crore for Census and Rs 3,941.35 crore for NPR.
