Women's Tennis Association (WTA) star Jessica Pegula recently became the first American woman to win the National Bank Open in 10 years. Key details: In just 49 minutes on Sunday, Pegula, 29, beat Russian tennis player Liudmila Samsonova 6-1 and 6-0 at the IGA Stadium in Montreal, Canada. Praising her opponent: Pegula, who now has a second WTA 1000-level title under her belt, praised Samsonova after their grand final match and pointed out that the 24-year-old Russian player had finished her semifinal match against Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina 1-6, 6-1 and 6-2  earlier that day.
