We have learned that it was an employee at the Grocery Store who tried to stop a man from stealing something and then those two men got into a fight, the suspects dog bit the employee numerous times and the suspect also stabbed the employee in the back. Police tell us other employees then rushed to help out the victim and called 911. He was rushed to the hospital and that employee right now is in critical condition, unclear fell make it. Meanwhile, the suspect is under arrest. That is horrifying. Jessica, thanks for the update. The man accused of starting a fire in the Santa Cruz Mountains is headed to court this morning. Investigators say he is responsible for the bear fire and they say they have witnesses who saw the arson happen. Abc 7 News Reporter matt keller live in santa cruz this morning. Matt. Reporter reggie, the bear fire was destructive and dangerous. Not only did it destroy homes, structures and vehicles. Several firefighters were also injured while battling it. Thats why the arson suspect is facing such serious charges here in Santa Cruz County court. The sheriffs investigators believe 54yearold marlon coy set the fire below Boulder Creek based on interviews with three people who saw it happened. Detectives say coy was in a relationship with a woman where the fire originated but there had been some sort of dispute. He was arrested on october 17th, date after the fire started, not for arson, but because he allegedly stole jewelry from an evacuated home. Coy faces five felony counts in connection to the fire and nine felonies for the alleged burglary. His hearing is scheduled for 8 15 this morning here in santa cruz. Its expected to bring in 52 million in the next ten years. If you have an electric car you dont completely escape the tax. You will be charged 100 a year to go forward road maintenance. There are some attempts under way to get a measure on next years ballot to repeal this tax, but for now youre going to have to pay it and it starts tomorrow. A manhunt is still on this morning for the suspect in a deadly shooting on the campus of the university of utah in salt lake city. Police received an alert to shelter in place about 9 00 last night. Police believe the victim may have been a specific target. The suspect is a 24yearold man, authorities wont say if either he or the victim are students. Questions being raised about the story of two women stranded at sea for nearly five months ex. Experts are saying some parts of their story dont add up. The coast guard said the women had an emergency radio beacon aboard their sailboat the whole time but it was never activated. One of them says they didnt activate it because they never felt like they were truly in distress. They are there are also questions about a Tropical Storm the women say that they encountered. There was no record of any Severe Weather along their course.
