If nothing number of californians sickened would overwhelm our health care system. An attack rate of about 56 . That the virus will impact about 56 of us. You do the math in the state of california, thats a particularly large number. Thats more than 25 Million People sickened. Heres reggie. This morning the shelter in place order already in effect in the bay area in Los Angeles County and now extends over the entire state and its 40 million residents. As you know, governor gavin newsom issued that order and jobina at the live desk with more. Local officials are very happy about this decision. This helps pump some money into Seton Medical Center to keep it operating and create some space for victims of the coronavirus. Governor gavin newsom will use response funds from the state budget to secure the daly city hospital. All of us are coming to appreciate our teachers. Were all coming to appreciate each other, i think, a little bit more. We dont see this through the lens of rural urban and we dont see it through the lens of republican and democrat. I think were all human beings deeply capable of loving one another. Officials say the state will lease 177 beds, thats almost half the beds in this hospital. They will dedicate certain floors to the coronavirus patients. The community had been very worried about where people would go if the hospital closed, especially as this pandemic hits. So, there is some relief that the state is using seton. They will still have to move in medical equipment and train staff. No word yet on when the state will be up and running here. That is the largest single day increase since the first case was reported there on march 4th. Santa clara county continues to report new cases. 14 in the last day bringing their total to 189. Six people have died in that county. San francisco announced 19 new cases bringing the total to 70. The number of confirmed cases has risen to five at the atria game facility. All five are in the hospital and the facility is closed to the public. People who live there, theyre staying in their rooms. County Health Officials and the cdc visited the home to launch an investigation. In San Francisco, officials are working to find safe places to house people who are experiencing homelessness amid this pandemic. The Citys Department of Human Service is working to rent 3,500 hotel rooms in the next few weeks. The agency moved four people who were experiencing homelessness who tested positive into hotels where they can be isolated from others. This will be a very common occurrence. We dont want people who do not need to be hospitalized to be there simply because they cant isolate. City leaders could also lease more hotel rooms to house First Responders andedical w educe thr risk ofin touth to answering calls for help risking exposure to san jose pce is recovering after testing positive for covid19. He w rent gathering with a group of other reserve officers. All of them are now selfisolating for several more days. San joses police chief says new policies will protect officers and their families from the virus. Were hoping that the steps weave are eve taken will help any further exposure. San jose firefighter is now recovering at home after being treated for coronavirus in the icu. Ten others also tested positive. Those fires report having mild to moderate symptoms. Researchers in labs at ucsf Mission Bay Campus have been working around the clock to identify which human cells covid19 invades and hijacks in order to survive and spread. The business says its doing business by appointment only and one to two people in the store at a time. Tesla has agreed to suspend production at its fremont plant after initially declining to do so. More than 300 inmates at the Alameda County jail in dublin are being released early because of coronavirus concerns. The ci o oakland is asking Business Owners impacted by coronavirus to shut down to contact them for potential financial help. Oakland said it heard from hundreds of businesses just this week. The shelter in place order is forcing businesses of all kinds to make adjustments and that includes the funeral industry. Chapel of the chimes Memorial Park in hayward is still performing funerals and burials and only ten people can attend. Because of that, theyre taking steps so that loved ones can still participate in the morning process.
