Little heavier on the Santa Theresa boulevard just to the west of coyote and heavier showers that were once thunderstorms about to rotate on to the Santa Cruz Mountains. Abc 7 News ReporterJulian Glover is live with what we can expect today. Julian . Good morning, kumasi. What a sign of the pandemic that the Santa Clara Convention center is now accepting patients. This facility now converted to a 250bed hospital, we should say. We know it has taken in the first coronavirus cases so far. One of the many temporary sites that will allow the state to take in more patients, particularly patients who have tested positive for coronavirus but do not need intensive care. Those are the people who will be treated here. Now, more serious patients will still be treated in traditional hospital settings. The center is stocked with beds and medical supplies by the national guard. Were at capacity. Seems to be normalized within our Hospital System today. But if for some reason we do surge up, theyll have the ability to transfer patients to this site where they can then carry out their recovery. This facility will not be accepting any walkin patients. Again, the idea here is that the less vulnerable coronavirus positive patients are treated here while more serious cases can be treated in our area hospitals.
