Most extended for a few days, and some, though, will be in effect until further notice. In Walnut Creek Police ended up using teargas on protesters that did not go home after curfew last night. We have chaotic video to show you from what happened. The crowd shutdown traffic on interstate 680 in walnut creek and the window of a car that was on the freeway was broken and teargas was sprayed on the crowd. Police say they used it when somebody threw a rock at officers. This all happened as the curfew kicked in at 6 00 last night. Police made some arrests, they tell us, in the downtown area, and thats where they also used teargas when they said people refused to leave and were violating the curfew order. Police said people broke windows downtown and threw rocks and bottles at officers. One officer they tell us suffered minor injuries. This did started with a peaceful protest yesterday afternoon in walnut creek in downtown in support of george floyd and the black lives matter movement. It was a small group of peeled off from the protest and headed to the freeway. Police say they got the freeway cleared by about 6 30. We have gone through the downtown this morning and dont see any obvious damage this morning, but we see a lot of boarded up buildings and Business Owners protecting their property, putting this into place before all thisnu creek, y hollyfield, abc7 news. 80 of the arrests last night involved the curfew, and 20 were for other crimes where police recovered guns. In the north bay Police Arrested 27 people in santa rosa, most of them for violating the citys curfew order. One person was arrested for shooting business windows with a pellet gun. Nobody was hurt. To help the family pick up the pieces, several Community Members came with brushes and paint in hand to paint over the hate and bring unity.
