And for your amazing support. We rely on our communities to support the work of the red cross, thats how were able to do our work. Weve been on the ground here working on these disasters and wildfires in Northern California since august 17 th. Believe it or not, this is like day 30 for this operation. We had 250,000 people that had to be evacuated for their homes for the three complexes we had here in our area. We have actually been able to supply 70,000 overnight stays in this last month. Not just through the red cross, but our partners and the state helping us we either put people up in hotel rooms or weve had some congregate shelters. Were trying to do as few shelters as possible. We had 75 people in a shelter last night in santa cruz. Many dont have a place to go right now. Were feeding them, thats been about 56,000 meals and snacks. Were supplying distribution relief items to people who may be able to get back to their homes to help them start cleaning up. I think we supplied about 22,000 items. And we currently have 200 volunteers on the ground or with the red cross. Some of them working virtually to help respond at the peak of this, we had 700 volunteers involved. And we rely heavily on volunteers, people donate to the red cross, were able to put as much money as possible into the folks that are healthy. Theres been so many fires burning across the state, its day 30, it probably feels like day 300 for you. Are you overwhelmed . I talk about our volunteers, theyre just amazing. We have close to 6,000 in our region alone. We have volunteers that help us from all over the country. Right now about half of our volunteers are local volunteers and the other half are virtual. We have people from the east coast, hawaii, we have people from washington. We have people from the south, we have people from all over helping us. And we really rely on our volunteers. We knew this was coming. We knew it was a covid environment. We really ramped up our volunteer recruitment and tried to recruit as many local folks as we could. Knowing that people may not want to fly around the country. Or there will be disasters this time of year. Between the wildfires and hurricanes, the red cross is very very busy. How is the fundraiser going today. Zoom made a huge contribution. 25,000 from zoom. We also had a matching gift from trojan tracks usa. It looks like we probably exceeded that.
