Killers seek freedom before retrial begins

A motion is set to be lodged within days to have killers Tom and Molly Martens released from a US jail, pending their retrial for the murder of Irish father-of-two Jason Corbett (39).
The revelation comes as it emerged defence legal teams are also expected to seek to have any retrial staged outside Davidson County in North Carolina - the venue for their original murder trial and conviction in July-August 2017.
Both father and daughter dramatically won a full retrial after the North Carolina Supreme Court quashed their conviction for the murder of the Limerick businessman.
Tom (71) and Molly (37) Martens have spent almost four years in various prisons serving their 20-25 year sentences for second-degree murder.
