Pete, you are behind one of the many casualties or in front of it, i should say, one of the schools there. Its hard to recognize. Reporter yeah, good morning to you, laura and marcus. Yeah, definitely hard to recognize in santa rosa. If you are familiar with the Hidden Valley elementary off parker road, this is whats left of it, following the north bay wildfires. As you mentioned, fire crews are on high alert because of the heat in this area for a combination of reasons. We are talking about the dry heat and dry hills. Because of those conditions, it makes this area or areas in santa rosa following the fires very susceptible to fire. Think about the hot spots and the combination of the dry heat and the dry hill. With the little bit of rain we got at the end of last week, cal fire says they are keeping their guard up, looking for those hot spots. We have over 400 people out here working on the fire lines. Reinforce the containment. Make sure any hot spot is found and put out. Reporter the crews are clearly on high alert as a result of the heat and following those north bay wildfires. I want to point out the school is one of the many schools that were damaged as a result of the wildfires. All 20 schools in the district had to close as a result. In the northbound lanes near automall parkway. Chp officers were trying to stop that car. The driver has not been identified. A new video of an overnight crash in san jose on montague expressway. Here is what things looked like around 2 00 this morning. Police are looking for people who were in the toyota camry. They all took off after crashing into a semi. That truck driver stayed and cooperated with police. 6 04. The teenager who killed Maddie Middleton will stand trial as an adult. The lawyers will try to fight that decision. New this morning, the Housing Market might be cooling off according to a survey released by the California Association of realtors. If you are looking to sell, the average median price over the last september went up 125,000. If you are looking to buy, chances are you are going to continue to struggle with the low supply that we have been talking about for months. Overall, bay area home sales dropped 4 this september over a year ago the average home price went up 11 according to the California Association of realtors. What really matters is where you live and where you want to buy. Right . We broke it down with the county numbers. The biggest changes were alameda county, a 50 decrease in home sales this september compared to a year ago. Contra costa county saw a 5 drop. Napa 12 drop over last september. The one county with more sales marin, 24 increase in the number of homes sold. The counties largely unchanged were santa clara, San Francisco, san mateo and sonoma. From this graph, sales in blue are down. Supply, in yellow, is down even more and nowhere more than the bay area where there were 20 fewer homes for sale this year over last year. This is going to be a really big problem for folks in the north bay, where so many people lost their homes in sonoma and napa counties. Reporter well, marcus and laura, Stanford UniversityDepartment Says this rape took place on the east side of campus, just after midnight. It was early monday morning, so just over 48 hours ago. Police say that the suspect and victim know each other but didnt divulge the circumstances surrounding the attack. Not clear if officers arrested the suspect as of yet. The Campus Police department is reminding students in the majority of the assaults, one or both people have been drinking or using drugs. That is not an excuse nor defense for the assault. Sexual assaults have become a big issue because of brock turner. He was the stanford swimmer, convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a dumpster on campus in 2015. The judge was criticized for sentencing turning to six months in jail. He was released after three months. Turner is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
