The same fire that trapped 200 people who were rescued earlier yesterday. Evacuation orders are still in place for several communities in the area. Its burned 73,000 acres and is still out of control. The pandemic is changing the way we do all kinds of things including how the red cross will help some of those fire victims. Weve seen red cross volunteers assisting each of the bay area wildfires. Theyre hoping to allow for social distancing and when possible helping place people in hotel rooms instead. We bring food to them in boxes and put it outside the rooms. Were doing a lot of virtual case management. Were calling people that are in those hotels and asking them what they need, how we can help. Obviously that can increase the cost of responding so the red cross is urging people to donate, and they can always use more volunteers. The red cross also calling for blood donations. On the left the bobcat fire which started north in the Angeles National forest. No homes are threatened. On the right the bad news is the valley fire started saturday about 30 miles east of san diego and that fire has already destroyed ten structures and more are threatened. Also in Southern California a family could face jail time for several wildfires burning about 75 miles east of los angeles where some 3,000 homes have been evacuated from the el dorado fire.
