We begin a slow start to a warming trend. It will be warmer this afternoon. This morning, crisp with an offshore flow. Its bringing that drier air. But the winds are calmer compared to yesterday. Temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above average. Not much action. No clouds in the sky. A lot of sunshine today as we look at the Golden Gate Bridge this morning. Santa rosa low 40s so its cool but no strong winds to make things feel even colder. This afternoon, though, warmer weather is on the way. This morning, President Trump is traveling to las vegas following the deadly mass shooting at a concert in las vegas. 59 people were killed and at least 500 injured. This is video of the president leaving washington this morning. President trump is expected to meet with wounded concert goers, those who treated them and fertilizer. This comes as investigators are releasing more information about how this shooting happened. These are photos from inside the hotel room of the gunman. 64yearold Stephen Paddock. Police say he fired on and off for nine to eleven minutes and had bump fire stocks, legal devices that enable semi automatic guns to fire continuously as fully automatic guns. Kpix 5s jackie ward has more details of what investigators are already beginning to question her. Reporter were learning about this, this morning. Investigators say the gunman recently transferred more than 100,000 to a bank account in the philippines. Thats where the vegas shooter encouraged his girlfriend Marilou Danley to go before his attack. According to danleys sisters, she didnt know she was going to the islands until paddock handed her a ticket. Danley flew back from the philippines and landed at l. A. X. Last flight. She was met at the airport by fbi agents. Investigation with her is ongoing. And we anticipate some information here from here shortly. Reporter danleys sisters spoke to 7 news to cnn affiliate in australia. They said marilou loved him and didnt know how he planned the shooting. The women didnt want to be identified by name and requested their faces be blurred, the sisters. Sent her away. So that he can plan what he is planning without interruption. In that sense, i thank him for sparing my sisters life. But thats one little compensation with 59 people dead. Put the puzzle together, no one except marilou because [ indiscernible ] talk anymore. Only marilou can help. The sisters told 7 news that she is a mother and grandmother and imagine she is in shock. The two sisters called her a good person who would have stopped paddock if she had been there. We are getting a closer look at the mayhem the night of the shooting from the point of view of the police officers. Authorities have released the first body camera footage. Sunrise hospital and Medical Center took in the most patients sunday night. Victims brought to the hospitals in droves in private cars and ambulances. Coming up on gurneys, people are bleeding everywhere. Wounded. Um, severe injuries to the chest, abdomen and extremities. It was nonstop patients everywhere. Realizing the death toll many survivors are crediting the physicians and First Responders for helping save their lives. These are some of the people dead in the shooting. Almost all of them have been identified. Some are from the bay area. Michelle vo was a san jose native. She graduated from Independence High School in 2003. She was 32. Denise cohen leaves behind two sons. She graduated from Cal High School in san ramon with a class of 1977. Its the same school that Stacee Etcheber graduated from in 1985. She was also a mother of two. And the wife of a San Francisco police officer. Ahead in our next half hour, a live report from las vegas and a look at the gun control push being made today on capitol hill. An oakland man is being charged with murder in the beating death of his father. Aaron clark is also facing elder abuse charges. It happened friday night in the oakland hills. Police say that 80yearold ernest clark had major trauma to the head and then died in his home. Officers also found the victims daughter injured in the incident. She was treated at a hospital and then released. This morning, we are learning more about an officer involved shooting that happened in San Francisco. Police just released these photos showing bullet holes on the side of a home. They say the suspect used this gun to fire at least three shots at them. It happened in late september when officers got a call about a Domestic Violence situation at an apartment near russian hill. Police say a hostage crisis unfolded as the suspect held his wife and two Young Children at gunpoint inside the apartment. Police shot him after hours of negotiations failed. A rise in bike thefts and car breakins sparked a new kind of crackdown by San Francisco police. Kpix 5s anne makovec reports. Reporter you can go on any city block in San Francisco and you will likely find a pile of glass similar to this. Remnants from a car breakin. Its so common, we call them street diamonds around here. Police say the number of break ins has gone backup 28 in the last year, nearly 85 report each day. Nearly 85 are reported each day. One officer is now at each station devoted to property crimes. Today supervisors are plowing are introducing a new ard nance to create a new unit within the Police Department, specifically for car breakins and bike thefts. Part of the plan would have more officers walking through some of the hardest hit neighborhoods like the touristy lombard street. So much glass on this street, i see so many tourists, i feel for these people. Theres glass all the time. We are just waiting for the next step when they go into the house. Reporter a man stole a purse in july carrying pricy jewelry when utah tourists left their car for 15 minutes. You can see how quickly it happened day or night. Even Law Enforcement isnt immune to this crime spike. In fact, two Law Enforcement cars recently have been broken into. It was just this past winter floodwaters gushed through neighborhoods along san joses coyote creek. Today the Santa Clara ValleyWater District is starting a new project to prevent this in the future. Katie nielsen reports live from san jose. Reporter if you look behind me, you can see a lot of the brush thats here along the banks of coyote creek. Thats going to be the focus of crews from the Water District as they come in and start clearing out that brush today. Its all in an effort to keep water flowing through the creek and prevent it from flooding this winter. Crews will start today clearing 16 acres of plants and debris. The Biggest Issue with giant reeds that grow along the banks. During storms, the reeds trap debris flowing downstream, creating mini dams which then leads to flooding. Theres no way we can say that we can absolutely guarantee that this area will never flood again. Its been flooding for decades. What we can do is minimize the impacts. Reporter the brush clearing project is starting today expected to take a couple of months to complete. Now, the Water District has also gotten approval to build a small levee. It follows significant backlash to the plan among locals in the sunset. Many argued the proposed noriega street location was a bad fit for the neighborhood given its close distance to a church and a preschool. Work is set to improve a bart station in el cerrito. The project will expand the downstairs passenger area and add new fare gates two elevators and new restrooms. Construction is expected to go on for the next two years. Two lanes have been shut down right near eden canyon road and we are seeing travel times in the eastbound opposite commute direction just shooting up into the yellow likely to go into the red here but we are seeing slowdowns even in the westbound direction which is the commute direction as everyone has to stop and take a peek as they are making their way through that stretch. So expect traffic to be slower than usual along this stretch this morning until they can get all that cleared. Chp hasnt given us a time as to when they expect to reopen lanes. 880 southbound direction 20 minutes from 238 on down towards 84. San mateo bridge getting a little crowded in that westbound direction. Just under 20 minutes from 880 to 101. This is the mess we have been talking about all morning long. 680 and 242 backed up. We have had overnight roadwork that has been picked up along this stretch but its costing drives an hour from willow pass road drivers an hour from willow pass road. We are starting to see improvement. Right now its just under 20 minutes. So thats definitely looking better but heres a live look at 680 at 242. You can see those headlights making their way southbound. So tough ride for drivers this morning. The eastshore freeway starting to back up. 580 heading out of the Altamont Pass area, about 30 minutes between 205 and 680. And the bay bridge toll plaza those metering lights are on and traffic is backed up but surprisingly, the bay bridge toll plaza looks lighter compared to everything else. So there was this low that brought some sierra snow, southern portions of the sierra actually saw this storm system work its way through. Got a few flakes from it. But as we can see now, its definitely leaving us nice and clear. All kinds of sunshine for Northern California as that storm system moves out further east bringing snow in idaho and montana and you can see storms coming through the midsection of the country and the midwest. There is a cooler air mass but its moving east. So thats why we will be welcoming a lot of this warmer air thats going to head towards Northern California. So heres that High Pressure thats right there off in the pacific ocean. And yes, its going to slowly creep on in which means temperatures will slowly rise, as well. Then we drop off again monday, tuesday of next week, but this weekend is going to be beautiful to get outside. Low 80s for the bay and upper 70s at the beaches by the time we reach friday, saturday and sunday. Reporter House Democrats will meet on the capital steps in washington today to honor those victims and demand legislation to prevent gun violence. Mental Health Reform is a critical ingredient to try to prevent this. We need have the conversation but right now it is about, for me, bringing relief to those families that are still looking for their loved ones. Investigators say none of the guns appear to be homemade. Instead, police found 12 bump stocks devices added to semi automatic weapons to make them fully automatic. Red flag warning has been lifted. It was breezy earlier in the week but as we start the warming trend, well have more coming up. We are tracking a sig alert in effect for drivers heading along eastbound 580. This is just past eden canyon road. We have a big rig that caught fire and it has two lanes shut down in that eastbound direction. Travel time from 238 to el charro heading eastbound 580 will take you just under 40 minutes. So it is a very slow ride through that stretch. Were also tracking a new accident in the westbound direction near Castro Valley boulevard there. So do expect delays in both directions. South bay starting to heat up. We have hot spots northbound 101 at hellyer a crash blocking one lane and northbound 87 at curtner that over in the Center Divide. San mateo crowded out of hayward into foster city. And we continue to see delays for drivers heading along highway 4, 242 and 680. Its been a mess all morning. We are seeing improvements but its still in the red 17 minutes for drivers making their way from willow pass to highway 24. It was clocking in at an hour so yes, there is some improvement. Richmond san rafael bridge 15 minute ride across the span. And we are tracking the usual slowdowns along the eastshore freeway. 30 minutes to the maze, another 26 into San Francisco. We have two lanes shut down after a big rig caught fire along that stretch. Again, this is eastbound so its opposite commute direction but hey, theres a really slow ride, 50, thats 50, minutes from 238 on over to el charro road and that typically takes you around 20 minutes or so. So were definitely seeing those delays. You will need to give yourself some extra time westbound in the yellow. We are seeing slowdowns as everyone is very curious as they are making their way westbound. So just a heads up through Castro Valley and a new crash motorcycle accident southbound 680, right near bernal avenue, and thats over in the Center Divide but our travel times just shot up in the red just under 20 minutes from 580 on down towards 84. 680 at 242, this has been the rough patch this morning. And it continues to be very slow. We had overnight roadwork along southbound 680 thats been cleared. But those residual delays, they continue. 21minute ride southbound 680 from willow pass on down towards highway 24. Westbound traffic along highway 4 the usual slowdowns as you make your way out of antioch into hercules about an hour commute. Eastshore freeway, a little over 35 minutes from 4 to the maze and from the maze into San Francisco, youre still slow. Its about 25 minutes. Give yourself some extra time, extra space between you tcheck the forecast. At least were starting to see some lights coming up, as well. So there are a lot of traffic lights, but also the sunlight. It is coming up in the next few minutes here. Just after 7 00 this morning. We are beginning our warming trend starting today. We had cooler air settling in, in the past couple of days with that dry air and all the wind but now things are a lot calmer so it is a mild weather kind of wednesday. Get ready for a warm weekend though. Temperatures are going to be all in the red. Sunrise brightening things up a bit. Heres the golden gate. The low Pressure Center will be heading east and then we are welcoming this guy, High Pressure coming through bringing in that warmer weather a whole lot of sunshine and as it makes its way towards the bay area, thats when well start to notice those temperatures rise by a lot. 10 to 15 degrees above average expected for some areas especially inland. Concord 81. Walnut creek 79 degrees. So today will be a very mild condition mild conditions out there, on par for where we should be this time of the year in october. 82 novato. San rafael 79. Petaluma 79, as well. Low 70s right around the bay to the north upper 70s and low 80s. The winds will be calm in the hills. Heres that sevenday forecast. You can see the warmup continuing so tomorrow temperatures will rise about 6 degrees. By friday, saturday, sunday, mid90s for a lot of inland communities and along the bay temperatures low 80s which will be great for fleet week. Yesterday, Richard Smith received significant criticism at a congressional subcommittee hearing. He is stressing he takes full responsibility for the hack and says it was caused by technological and human error. It appears tesla is falling behind on its production goals for the model 3. The Bay Area Company says its delivered 220 model 3s and produced 260 in september. Thats far below the goal set by its ceo.
