Late friday, they issued a subpoena to the white house for documents relating to the whistleblower complaint. They are also requesting ukrainerelated documents from it another intelligencece. Official concerned about the president s dealings with ukraine is reportedly considering filing a second whistleblower complaint. Mr. Trump maintains he did nothing wrong and is pushing back. After this night of fury, these riot police are loading someone they arrested into there van. At midnight, thousands remained on the streets. Many stranded after the citys expansive metro system was completely shut down. This is just some of the destruction at this metro station. The glass has all been smashed in. In fact, this is the first time that every single metro station in hong kong has been closed because of protests. In the suburbs, protesters attacked a Plainclothed Police officer with petro guns. Another teenager was shot, the second in three days. Demonstrators directed their anger toward beijing, targeting chineseowned businesses and burning a banner celebrating chinas 70th anniversary. The protests at first peaceful began almost immediately after carrie lam, hong kongs chief executive, announced a ban on Wearing Masks at future rallies under newly enacted and controversial Emergency Powers. This move can be perceived as a step closer to authoritarianism like in mainland china, your reaction . This is a responsible act to deal with an extremely difficult situation. She died friday after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 84. Carroll garnered critical acclaim for her pioneering work on television. Carroll changed the course of television history. In 1968, she became the first africanamerican woman to star as someone other than a Domestic Worker in the groundbreaking sitcom julia, a role for which she won a golden globe. Carroll spoke proudly about her decades long career. Im happy, delirously so, about having had this career. And for so many africanamerican women, i would i would venture to say all women, she was such a proud woman. And seeing her on dynasty, which is already my favorite show. Police in North Carolina released dramatic video of a deadly encounter with a kidnapping suspect. This happened last month in raleigh. The video shows the armed suspect firing at police as he runs from a vehicle into the woods. Kenneth craig is here with the details. Good morning. Reporter good morning to you. Police released multiple angles of the incident, but perhaps the easiest way to see exactly what happened in the suspects final moments would have been with the body camera on the officer at the center of this case. But it wasnt on. The dash cam footage begins at the tail end of a highspeed car chase involving the kidnapping suspect. 23yearold hugo Cortez Ramirez. After his vehicle was disabled by police, Cortez Ramirez jumps out of the drivers side and sprints into nearby woods, wielding a handgun in his right hand. At least four muzzle flashes can be seen as Cortez Ramirez exchanges fire with police. Raleigh Police Sergeant warner can be seen firing back. [ gunfire ] body cameras from other officers show deputies take cover near the suspects vehicle. They were told the kidnapping victim was still inside. The suspect fires one more shot before more deputies arrive and rescue the victim from the vehicle. The manhunt for Cortez Ramirez continued into the daylight hours. Police say they later found his body in the woods with a pistol in his hand. The officer at the center of that case, sergeant warner, was wearing his body camera, as all of that unfolded. Police say the battery had died before it happened. Hes currently on administrative duty, and the state is investigating. As for the victimpp physically okay. Obviously a lot of emotional scars. Dennis sullivan says the blm, and i quote, is allowing the land to be raped. Thats his quote. He owns it. He can speak to it. Reporter what do you think when you hear that . I dont think i hear much. We dont allow land to be raped. Thats what i known. Reporter the racing Association Says the top layer of salt was once fourfeet thick and is now in most places down to one inch. The blm for their part acknowledges a 7 decrease of the crust package over the last decade and a half. Is there a solution here that makes everyone happy . Our work has shown that over the last 30 years or so the footprints of the 2d surface of salt here in this landscape has been decreasing. Reporter bowen showed us the current state of the terrain. Just millions and millions of shakers stretched out over a changing landscape. Less of it on the speedway. The racing Community Says all that salt has ended up here, up to 250 million tons of it just a couple of thousand feet from the tracks, remnants from all that mining.
