The City Council Just approved measures to stop rate hikes and unjust evictions following similar ordinances in redwood city and menlo park. Reporter supervisor matt haney of district 6 wrote this built. That includes neighborhoods in the tenderloin. If this ordinance were to pass, it would apply to 35,000 units across the city. It would help a lot of tenants out. This ordinance would extend renter protections, eviction protections for thousands of tenants who dont have the right now. Landlords in San Francisco have 16 socalled just reasons to evict their tenant. As it stands today, those protections only extend to renters whose units were built in june 1979 or the four. In order to evict someone who lives in the unit built after 1979, the landlord essentially does not need a reason. Lifting the 1979 cutoff date. They are by protecting tens of thousands of renters who live in units built in the last four years. Last week, haney tweeted, quote, eviction protections should not be based on what year your building was built. It is arbitrary, unfair, and call. End quote. Supervisor haney also said this bill will close what he called socalled loopholes of a bill leslie past the state level. It was written by San Francisco the men david chu. It does not help everyone. And mud and bad weather and rats sometimes and it is just, you know, you dont know who you can trust. And so we all have, like, intimacy issues, you know . It is kind of hard to be friends with people. You really want friends. You love people and that the same time, you want to go hide. Then you have the people that are chronically ill, have addictions or whatever. Or, you know, you see a lot of that. I wish they had better until for our situation. They always want to yank out all your teeth. You look so much better as a homeless person. There just needs to be more outreach. I mean, really, we are your neighbors. It is hard out here. And, you know, social classes, the economic things and the housing crisis, i mean, two bedroom is 5000 a month. That is crazy to me. My friend recently passed way. She went to a home. She was happy there. She was off the street. She felt great. We set up shower stations or that houses for the women or anybody. There will be great. I hear that there is ace shower here monday. And theres a big water heater. They can turn that on. They must have forgotten. Trying to eradicate the word homeless. Curbside communities rather than in cabin. A lot of times on the list, they will say, you know about, the homeless situation. The homeless. You know . Curbside community. We interact with people. We are very neighborly. Happy to work and bathed and nobodys problem, i believe. I have about 500 saved on a fundraiser that were doing on facebook but part of that, that money is set aside to get a van, you know, something so that i can go and haul trailers and see my daughter who i havent seen in six years. But really want to be useful, you know . I have time being homeless. I just want to be useful. It is a struggle out here. It is like being a pioneer woman or cowboy or whatever you come out there. You come out here in your rv or whatever and you are selling the curb. It is the last frontier. Maven has been living in oakland for more than a year now. But a month ago, the city of oakland cleared out her encampment so she just moved down the street. That is a practice shes hoping to see stopped. And so because of that, i really want to be able to empower the younger girls. So in that way, because of it is going to allow them to grow into this field that is going to break so much more barriers. So were so excited, almost half of our ninjas now are girls. Yay they are wearing their little pink ninja tshirts. They are enjoying the program as much as the boys are. And they are doing really amazing. Good well, code ninjas san ramon has officially been open for 2 and half weeks now. They are already planning on expanding. And the owner, amy, you know, her background is in i. T. Throughout her career, she has been the only woman in her i. T. Department. So this is really a passion of hers, getting girls into s. T. E. M. And i am so impressed with what they are doing. It is a local. I know. It is impressive. And you know, the more girls see other women in s. T. E. M. , then it inspires them to stick with it. So that is awesome. I love the name, code ninjas.
