Thanks, betty. Well switch gears and talk about the weather. Live look outside. The weather has calmed down tonight. And it seems nice. But meteorologist darren says not so fast. Not so fast. Were not out of this. Its going to rain again tomorrow and if you look at high def doppler, theres a lot of rain on there now. Its all moved far enough east in the Central Valley and turning into snow in the sierra. More on that later. First, lets talk about the rain in the bay area. There may be a few spotty showers on there now. As we put this in the futurecast, those are not the concerns. Its tomorrow. Watch what happens as we get late in the morning. Here comes the third and final. We had one come through saturday. We had another today with good rainfall totals. This one comes in tomorrow afternoon and its going to have the possibility for a few isolated thunderstorms mixed in with it. Take a look at the time there. That gets us into the early afternoon. If you watch, theres a pattern there. Storms are all rotating around from the east towards the west and getting pushed out off the coast. Not until we get to the evening tomorrow. Bottom line is, its going to rain tomorrow. But it wont be as it was today and at times, it could come down heavier than it did today if you get an isolated thunderstorm over the bay area. Thats the main headline. The other one is look how cold its going to get tomorrow up in the north bay. Back in the mid30s. The rest should stay in the low to mid40s. Ill be back in a couple minutes. Well look at rainfall amounts tomorrow and what will happen after tomorrows rain. Ill see you in a bit. New at 11 00, two adults and a toddler are recovering tonight after being hit by gunfire near the freeway. That happened around 7 00 tonight on eastbound 580 in oakland near the transition to 24. And one of the biggest at Home Shopping days of the year put on hold. When amazon is rescheduling prime day. C1 tonight, millions of americans are observing holy week at home. To kick it off, churches across the bay area celebrated palm sunday online. This was christ the King Catholic church back on march 8th. And today . Tough looks. Like all others, the churches have been shut down. The archbishop says historically, there have been Church Closures in certain countries or regions but never anything like this. What ive seen or read, theres no other instance that has come to mind where churches have had to close down universally across the globe. I think this isolation, this hardship will do a lot of good. Its not going to destroy faith. Its going to build up faith. People will come back with desire to belong. At jewish synagogue, the pandemic has canceled the yearly passover observances set to begin on wednesday. Pope francis marked a surreal palm sunday in an empty st. Peters basilica. It usually attracts tens of thousands to st. Peters square. Instead, millions watched on television and online as the pope urged People Living through the pandemic to not focus on what they lack but on how they can ease the suffering of others. And at a time when churches are being forced to close temporarily to practice social distancing, one church challenged californias stay at home order with planned services. The Cross Culture Christian Church in lodi went ahead with palm sunday prayer today outside in the parking lot where people stayed in their cars. The church had been Holding Services up until this week despite the statewide stay at home order. Yesterday city officials ordered the church not to hold services or else they could face a fine or imprisonment. The locks on the building had also been changed. The locks had been changed and thats just not its not constitutional. Its against everything that this country stands for. Its why so many people want to come to this country. Chunks say they understand the severity of the virus but believe they still should be able to gather despite the local or state orders. Muni plans to cut bus service by 40 by the end of this week. The change is in response to low ridership during the coronavirus crisis. Service will be cut back gradually. And beginning tomorrow, the north bays smart train will cut down its services of ridership continuing to decline. The new weekday schedule will operate 16 trips daily at all stations until further notice. Smart had already canceled four weekday trips in midmarch. All Weekday Service remains suspended. And probably the least vital news of the night. Amazon is postponing its major shopping event. Its usually in july and now it wont be held until at least august. They are getting slammed with orders online. The Company Wants to hire 100,000 more workers to meet the demand. If youre heading to walgreens, you may see a few changes. The pharmacy chain is providing face covers for workers and stores and Distribution Centers to protect employees by coronavirus. Theyre testing employees for fever. Theyve changed its hours to allow extra time for them to clean the stores. The rain didnt stop people to brave the elements to shop for essential items. But more stores are adopting new rules which had people dealing with long lines outside. This one in trader joes wrapped around the corner and down the street. Shoppers we spoke to waited about a half hour in the rain until they had a chance to get their shopping done. Theyre understanding the new policies in place to promote social distancing. Nobody is getting mad that this line is long. This has to happen. This is responsible. Everyone is very polite. Theyre pleasant. And, you know, yeah. Were trying to go out of our way to be especially nice to them because theyre here for us. Yep. Major retailers like target and walmart and home depot this weekend implemented new rules to customers in line and inside its stores. Target is going to meter guest traffic at its location on gary boulevard. Just 170 people were allowed in at a time. Meanwhile walmart will allow no more than five people per thousand square feet of space. And speaking of space, look at the space above. Look what happened today, though. Pretty shots of the rain coming down. It looked like this bay area wide today. And i want to show you one more payoff from today. Im going to show you rainfall totals in a second and well talk about how we did in terms of making up in our deficit. But look at the scene right now. A live view using one of the cameras from cal trans outside the lake tahoe basin. This is on highway 50. Right before you come out to lake tahoe. The Sierra Nevada has done wonderful the last two days with snow. Three feet of new snow and theres still more coming. Watch what happens when we look at the futurecast. From now to 11 00 to me, theres still several more inches and still a winter storm warning out there. Travel has been really difficult up there at times. But once we get into the second half of tomorrow, things will quiet down. Thats the sierra. Lets come back home. These are the rainfall totals from the last 24 hours and i just have to draw your attention to san joses number. Almost an inch of rain. Thats excellent. And its a nice reversal from what happened yesterday. The previous 24 hours when the best rain was in the north bay. We didnt get much in san jose. It was nice to see the rain come down for everybody. The youre curious what does all this rain mean for our deficit . Didnt really make as big a dent. We were so far behind. Even with santa rosa. With all the rain weve gotten, were just at 54 from where we should be. At San Francisco, were at 50. The two places with an increase, down here in the south and east bay. San jose got you up to 46 . You were in the mid30s before this last series of storms. And for livermore, we got you at 40 where you should be for rainfall this time of year. That was the biggest jump. And it makes sense when you look at what this storm was doing. All the clouds were driving the majority of the rain into the south bay today. But tomorrows rain is coming from that right there. That little build up of clouds right off the coast. But if we put that in the futurecast, you can see theres a whole complex of thunderstorms out there with that. Thats going to get pushed our way tomorrow. So its another day with rain. Itll probably look and seem a bit different because these are going to be scattered showers and some of this will come in the form of an isolated thunderstorm. You may hear a rumble of thunder in the distance tomorrow. May even get one of these brief downpours down over you. But tomorrows not going to be the long, everybody gets rain like most of the day like yesterday. But tomorrow could be more exciting if you get one of those thunderstorms. And then were done. Once we get to tuesday, were out of the rain. And look what happens from there on out. Well warm back up to mid70s for datetime highs for inland locations and most spots in the inner bay will warm to the 60s. Tomorrow morning will be cold. Especially in the shelter valleys. Everybody else in the mid to upper 40s so shouldnt be too bad. See you later, guys. Thanks so much. Coming up, a sigh of relief in italy tonight as thousands continue to fight the coronavirus.
